For your consideration:

1986 Porsche 944 Turbo with 137,000 miles.
I have owned this car since 09/2011, during which time it has been a fun and reliable weekend driver. Runs as drives as a 944 Turbo should. Great oil pressure. No water leaks. Shifts and boosts reliably.

Interior color is black. Previous owner had died the original Can-Can Red leather seats black, and they were worn. I removed them and installed a pair of leather Merlot-colored front seats in their place. The rear seat was removed and replaced with a carpeted fiberglass delete panel. The sunroof was converted from a problematic motor-operated system to OEM Porsche manual latches. Fiberglass rear header panel installed after removing motor/cable assembly. Minor upholstery work needed to make the headliner 100%.

Within the past 500 miles:
Rod bearings replaced
Motor mounts replaced
Rubber vacuum tubing replaced with silicone
Venturi delete kit installed
Forge piston style recirc valve to replace Bosch diaphragm valve
Timing and balancer belts replaced
Cam Tower gasket replaced
K&N cone filter
Short shifter with needle bearings and a Delrin knob.
All fluids changed (engine oil to synthetic, transaxle, coolant, steering and brake fluids)

Dash has typical cracks
Air conditioning not working
High quality stainless steel exhaust
LSD

Listen to the Porsche Macan's exhaust note ahead of its LA debut

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

As if we need further proof that the Porsche Macan won't just be another small CUV, it'll be a small Porsche CUV, the German automaker has released a video of the vehicle's raucous exhaust note. In short, the Macan will sport a far racier soundtrack than most of its competitors.
The raspy sound coming from one of the Macan's two turbocharged V6 engines sounds great (the video isn't clear as to whether we're listening to the base 3.0-liter or the Turbo model's 3.6-liter engine), and it's accompanied by a nice crackle on overrun. It isn't like a 911 or other flat-six model, but it is more or less what we expect a Porsche to sound like. We'll have all the details on the newest member of the Porsche lineup when it debuts later this month at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show. Scroll down for an official press release from Porsche, as well as the video of the Macan, and be sure to turn your speakers up.

Noted Porsche collector Magnus Walker learns what a TED Talk is firsthand

Wed, 23 Jul 2014

Porsche collector Magnus Walker has the name and looks of a Viking, but once he starts talking about his life story and what drives him, he's an absolutely fascinating guy. Walker recently gave a Ted Talk at a Tedx conference at UCLA and claimed he didn't really understand the idea behind the speeches. You would never know it, though. Walker is as gifted a speaker as he is a talented restorer of some seriously cool Porsches.
Walker's talk is titled "Go with Your Gut Feeling," and it amounts to his autobiography. He recounts his birth in England, dropping out of school at 15 and moving to the US at 19. Once in Los Angeles, he started selling second-hand clothes and grew it into a fashion business.
Of course, what makes him interesting to us is his passion for Porsches. He fell in love with them when he saw a white 911 as a child at the Earl's Court Motor Show in England, but Walker waited until the '90s to buy his first one. From there he started racing and eventually restoring them. Since the documentary Urban Outlaw about him was released, Magnus has become famous for the love of the brand.

Our hats are off to Porsche's 2014 911 Turbo Cabriolets

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

Porsche has just debuted its two latest decapitated rocket sleds today at the LA Auto Show, the new 911 Turbo Cabriolet and Turbo S Cabriolet, which share their coupe counterparts' 520-horsepower and 560-hp 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engines. That kind of power ought separate a lot of hats (and toupees!) from heads.
The rear-engined Porsches put their power down through all four wheels, which allows them to launch from 0-60 in 3.3 seconds or less (the Turbo S Cab takes just 3.1 seconds), and both of them top out at 195 mph.
The 911 Turbo Cabriolet starts at $160,700, while the Turbo S Cabriolet can be had for a grand total of $193,900 (plus $950 for destination). Is the S model's 40 extra horsepower worth $33,200? We're not so sure, but we imagine Porsche won't have any trouble selling it.
