Opening bid is less than 1/4 of what I have in this car. NO RESERVE -- I will sell to highest bidder.
I bought this March of last year because I always wanted one and this one a) was in Texas, not too far from me; b) had a bunch of work & restoration done to it; and c) seemed like fun to work on and drive w/ my teenage son.
We subsequently did, and have had done, more work, while driving it very little. Odometer had 143,831 when I bought it, and quit working right after I got it home. It now shows just under 145,000 but I probably put it up to right at 146,000.
I was going to sell this before the holidays, but my brother drove it and parked it in his driveway and his wife backed her mini-van into the passenger-side front fender and scraped the door -- see the pics. I've been wrestling w/ whether to keep this and further restore it or just sell it -- unfortunately high school varsity baseball uses up a lot of nights and weekends so we decided to let someone else take it from here.
I always wanted one of these. Had fun working on it with my son and driving it, but ready for something else. You could say I scratched that particular itch.
The guy I bought it from was the 2nd owner. He bought it in 2007 and had it shipped from CA to TX.
Adult, non-smoker, non-racer owned (both the previous owner and me). Well maintained and garaged (previous and owner and me).
I am also offering this locally for sale and reserve the right to end the auction if I sell it locally.
Features:
- 5-speed manual
- headers and custom, stainless exhaust
- power driver's seat
- power windows & locks (w/ keyless remotes)
- A/C upgraded to R132 by previous owner. I subsequently put on a new condenser last summer -- blows cold
tinted windows
- 16x7 and 16x8 deep-dish porsche "phone dial" rims w/ zero road rash -- VERY nice!
- performance tires w/ plenty of tread
- Alpine CDR-9857 head-unit, ipod ready, w/ Kenwood power amp and Pioneer sub-woofer -- it CRANKS!
I have a ton of maintenance records, as well as a repair and owners manual (latter, printed out on a laser printer, not the original)
Interior is particularly nice for a 27+ year old car -- seats are excellent and headliner is very good. Carpet is decent, but also has new front floor mats.
Key Notes:
clear title, ready to go
car runs great. starts right up, idles smooth. no smoke.
painted in 2006 and garaged since
see the pics for the good, as well as the damaged fender and scraped door. still drives great!

No known major mechanical issues.
Known minor mechanical issues:
1. Rear hatch does not release/unlock w/ interior release switch -- you must unlock w/ key. Struts were unattached when I purchased the car but I subsequently re-attached and the hatch will stay ope on its own
2. Side mirrors, motors do not work. Glass is flat, aftermarket replacement, as shown in pics.
3. Rear wiper motor does not work. I was going to just remove the whole thing and install a "delete plug" where the arm is mounted. Never got around to it.
4. Odometer quit working at mileage shown in pics (144,794), but there shouldn't be more than 146,000 total
5. Sometimes you have to tap on the Tach to get it to work, but it does work
Other:
1. repainted in 2006. Looks to me like the original color was black. Check out the pics.
2. seller I purchased it from claimed no accidents (according to CarFax) but the driver's door was clearly previously RED, before it was painted along w/ the rest of the car.
3. dented front, passenger-side fender and scraped passenger door (doesn't look to me to be dented).
I have a leather bra and matching mirror covers that came with it (used) that I will include. I also have a new brand-new, lined car-cover that has never been on the car that I will also include.
Feel free to contact me through ebay with questions, or call me at 713-429-1516, but note that I DO NOT answer calls that don't show caller-ID. I also have more pics if you want to see something in particular.
Happy to work w/ YOUR shipper if you buy it. But I'm not interested in arranging shipping.

Porsche was first rumored to be working on a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the Cayenne over a year ago. However, we had never seen it, until now. The new model was caught almost completely undisguised while testing. In another stroke of luck, we got a glimpse of the upcoming facelift for Porsche's SUV (pictured above) as well.
According to the spy shooter, it was windy during the cars' cold weather testing. The cover blew off of the facelifted Cayenne, and there was enough time to snap these pictures before it could be hidden again. The changes are all quite minor but jive with what we saw the last time it was spied. The rear still wears some cladding but is expected to be hiding lights similar to the Macan.
The second gallery shows off the upcoming Cayenne PHEV. It looks nearly identical to the standard model, except for the extra panel on the driver's side of the car that hides the electric port. One image even shows the car plugged in. The new version is expected to use the same supercharged 3.0-liter V6 and 9.4-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack with a combined 416 horsepower and 435 pound-feet of torque from the Panamera S E-Hybrid. We enjoyed the system when we tested it last year. It's rumored to debut on the SUV sometime this year.

Believe it or not, between the 918 Spyder, the Cayenne and the Panamera, Porsche offers more plug-in hybrid models than any other brand. Yes, Porsche. But don't expect that trend to continue. At least, not in the immediate future.
According to Top Gear, the E-Hybrid powertrain in the Cayenne and Panamera is too big to fit into the smaller Macan. A future hybrid system could be small enough to fit, but with the current technology still fresh, that'd still be some ways down the twisting road.
It stands to reason, then, that if the system wouldn't fit in the Macan, it wouldn't fit in the Boxster or Cayman, either. But what of the 911? Surely Porsche would like to stick it to BMW and its new i8, and proved it could do a hybrid 911 when it rolled the GT3 R Hybrid (pictured) out onto the race track over four years ago. But Zuffenhausen is reportedly in no rush to put that idea into production - not for the current 911 and not for the next one, either.

"Pics or it didn't happen!" You could almost hear the Internet shouting this when news started to trickle in about a sub-seven-minute Nürburgring lap by the new Porsche 918 Spyder. Well, after an official press release, which we ran earlier today, we have your "pics." Moving pics, to be more exact. Porsche has released on-board footage of the 6:57 lap.
The video, which runs about eight-and-a-half minutes, and shows the 918 from inside the car on a flying lap of the German track. Perhaps what's remarkable is just how undramatic it all looks. Sure, there's some sawing at the wheel from test driver Marc Lieb (one of three testers, including legendary rally king Walter Röhrl), but he makes wrangling the Martini-liveried 918 look kind of easy.
Take a look down below for the full, on-board video, and then click over and read our initial write-up from earlier this morning and take a glance at the more stylized video that Porsche originally posted.
