Super clean well-maintained 930 Cabriolet.  Straight dry and unmolested.  This is my second 88 930 Cabriolet.  Very stock and original except for the following:  Ruf dual outlet exhaust- K27 Turbo- 1.2 bar spring- Andial Fuel enrichment Module- Rennline front tower strut with brace on brake booster- 18 inch wheels on car in pictures.  The original owners manual, air compressor, tool kit, tonneau cover and Certificate of Authenticity included- as well as four beautiful Gran Prix White matching Fuchs 16 inch wheels and tires.

I have 3 other Porsches (as well as a dozen other performance cars) and am trying to thin the herd a little.  I spent a couple grand on this car in the past year doing preventative maintenance and replacing some overdue parts- recent work includes: valve cover service, distributer cap, rotor, plugs, waste gate diaphragm, updated 1.2 bar spring, new oil cooler and lines, and A/C service.

There does not appear to be any evidence of any collision anywhere- all original factory parts and seams.  Interior is good- I had a new panel sewn into the Sport Seat bolster on the driver's seat (where your backside rubs the bolster getting in and out)  the work was well done and not noticeable.  Black carpet with "Sand" colored Turbo script on rear seat-back and front mats to match.  Electric top goes up and down smoothly.  If I keep the car I would consider a transmission freshening, everything works fine- but the 2d to 3d syncro is a little grumpy- not a problem if you're used to race cars and can match revs- but there is a little wear on it.  That is the only "flaw" worthy of mention.

I have a file of old maintenance records for the car to prove the old girl has been well maintained.  I am a long time PCA member and will answer any questions I can.  call me at 304-639-5907 if you need more info

All Porsche 911s to get turbos in 2015?

Sun, 19 Oct 2014

Currently, Porsche builds two turbocharged 911s - the Turbo and the Turbo S (and their cabriolet counterparts). The rest of the 911 range, meanwhile, is motivated by either 3.4- or 3.8-liter flat-sixes of varying outputs. This clear separation could be set to change in the very near future, though, as rumors continue to swirl that Porsche's rear-engined range could switch exclusively to turbocharged power.
This time, it's Car projecting that the 911 range will go turbocharged as part of a mid-cycle refresh, with the base Carrera's 3.4-liter dropping to 2.9 liters and adding an iron lung, bumping the entry level 911 up to 400 horsepower. Yes, a 400-horsepower, entry level 911. The Carrera S, meanwhile, will retain its 3.8-liter engine, but will also benefit from turbocharging, increasing output to 530 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of torque. So basically, it sounds like the current, 520-hp 911 Turbo will become the next Carrera S.
What does that mean for Porsche's traditional high-performance models? Well, it's a safe bet that the Turbo, Turbo S and eventual GT2 will be producing seriously huge power figures. Based on pure speculation, we wouldn't be shocked to see a 600-hp Turbo, with the S and GT2 increasing output markedly from there.

Jack Olsen built a Porsche 911 to drive every day and conquer Willow Springs

Mon, Dec 15 2014

Almost two years ago we wrote about the 12-Gauge Garage Jack Olsen built to house his multifarious Porsche 911 - its 1972 bodywork hides four decades of Porsche parts, like the transaxle from a 1977 911 and the engine from 1995 911, for example. It weighs 2,400 pounds and has 272 horsepower, and Olsen uses it daily driving and for track days, the latter excursions featuring homemade, bolt-on aero parts. German magazine Auto Bild stopped by Olsen's house to look in on the Porsche called "Black Beauty II," and we get a few more details about the mods he's made, like swapping out for fiberglass body panels and welding Fuchs wheel centers to wider Corvette barrels so he could run different tires. Most importantly, though, Olsen divulges his passion for lowering his lap time at Willow Springs. Randy Pobst set the lap record for a production car around the 2.5-mile Big Willow track in a Porsche 918 Spyder at 1:23.54 during a Motor Trend test (the outright record, according to Willow Springs, is held by Michael Andretti at 1:06.050 in a CART car). Further down the list, Steve Millen drove a 415-hp 911 GT3 RS around the same track in 1:33.14 - a car 600 pounds heavier than Olsen's. Over the past 14 years of tinkering with his car, Olsen says his data shows his lap time is now down to 1:26.88, achieved on the day of filming the Auto Bild video. That time would put him in between the 1:26 flat posted by Dominik Farnbacher in a 608-hp Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR and the 1:28.93 put up by Pobst in a 400-hp, 991-series 911. You can hear Olsen tell it in his own words in the video.

2014 Porsche Cayman S

Second Fiddle Moves To First Chair
In the interest of full disclosure and a bit of bloodletting, allow me to admit that while I've always coveted the Porsche Boxster and its hard-hatted Cayman cousin, I've never really warmed to them visually. They've always had a certain push-me, pull-you, can't-decide-which-way-they're-going aesthetic that I've never really wrapped my head around. Porsche achieved the same thing with the original 550 Spyder's overturned bathtub bodyshell that would come to inspire the Boxster, but somehow that classic's even more symmetrical nature works for me. Fast-forward to this third generation, and at least for this enthusiast, Porsche's manchild has well and truly come of age as a design.
It's all there - a piercing stare thanks to squircle headlamps inspired by the 918 Spyder hypercar, newfound directional thrust afforded by a longer wheelbase and elongated greenhouse, and muscular rear haunches with a wider stance emphasized by larger side ductwork and snubbed overhangs. The body's teardrop shape terminates with an active spoiler that integrates into a gorgeous arc with the taillamps like a budding ducktail nod to 1973 911 Carrera RS. Despite casting a longer shadow than its predecessor, the 2014 Cayman still looks tidily proportioned, smooth and wieldy, the perfect skipping stone to ricochet down a canyon river road.
