For Sale 1987 Porsche 911 Turbo ( VIN#  wp0jb0937hs051152 )

The turbocharged version of the Porsche 911 is also known as the "Porsche 930 Turbo." Porsche released the first 911 model in 1963 as a luxury two-door sports coupe. The original 911 classic model was released from 1963 until 1989, and was succeeded by the 964 and 993 variants of the 911. From 1975 to 1989, Porsche produced a turbocharged version of the 911, known by many as the 930 Turbo. The 1987 930 Turbo is one of the last classic 911 models produced, before the car was succeeded by the 964 Turbo versions.

In 1987, the 911 was released in three models -- the base model coupe Carrera, the Targa and the Cabriolet. Targa models were based on the standard two-door coupe model with a removable roof panel and rear window, while the Cabriolet sported a two-door convertible design. All models are rear-wheel drive vehicles with a steel monocoque body and chassis. In the 1987 models, the rear fog light was also integrated under the rear spoiler, which was previously located in the rear bumper on earlier models. A "slant nose" package option is also available and it was aerodynamically designed to make the 930 run faster.

The 930 Turbo version is equipped with an air-cooled six-cylinder 3.3-liter turbocharged engine with an overhead camshaft valve train. It has 282 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and a torque of 278 foot-pounds at 4,000 rpm. The engine has eight main bearings, and a compression ratio of 7.0:1. The Turbo engine is standard on the Targa and Cabriolet models, while it was an option for the base coupe Carrera.

All models are equipped with a power front-seat with cushion angle and height adjusters and backrest-angle movement. Additional standard features included air conditioning, a premium audio system with cassette capability, leather seats, a leather-trimmed four-spoke steering wheel and a central locking system. As of 2010, a 1987 930 Turbo costs $25,000 up to $80,000. The price varies depending on the vehicle's condition, model and aftermarket modifications.

The 930 that we are selling has only 153,805. Overall this vehicle is in great working condition. It has red interior with leather power seats. The leather is not bad considering its age, however there is one cigarette mark on passenger seat. The exterior paint has few chips on the right fender and the front bumper lips. This car had been painted, few over-spray sports are visible here in there. Engine has a custom exhaust system, it sounds really nice but its not too loud. Overall the motor sounds healthy and runs strong. Transmission works good and the clutch feels strong. Carefully maintained by the owner, this vehicle has never been abused and always treated with respect and love. This is a Texas car and was brought to Boston about one year ago. It has been stored in a garage and has never seen snow.  I drove this car personally, and want to share with you my driving experience. My first impression on this was was simply "Awesome!". This car makes the heads turn. One truly bad ass turbo. It drives and feels very strong/responsive.. The tires are almost brand new. The car pulls slightly to the right, almost can't even notice. Could be incorrect tire pressure on the right side or may need a simple alignment. The high beams don't work, but regular lights work just fine. Possibly a burned fuse? Has a break light on and seatbelt light on at all times. These lights are located in the middle kind of next to the after market cd player. E brake doesn't work, feels like the cable needs to be tighten. It comes with 2 keys. This car has been serviced by a professional German cars specialized mechanic.

Porsche names new motorsport chief

Fri, 11 Jul 2014

Though it may have expanded into crossovers and sedans, Porsche is still a company with racing at its heart. You might even argue that Cayenne and Panamera sales only serve to fund the company's motorsports activities. Competition-spec 911 coupes still make up a large portion of the grid in any GT racing series, and those activities are presided over by the Porsche GT division (separate from its LMP1 program), which has just announced a changing of the guard.
Porsche's GT unit - which is responsible both for racing models like the 911 RSR and road-going models like the 911 GT3 - has until now been steered by Hartmut Kristen (pictured above, left) in his capacity as Vice President of Motorsport at Porsche AG. During his ten-year tenure, Kristen gave birth to the RS Spyder that competed in the American Le Mans Series and the pioneering 911 GT3 R Hybrid. He also fostered what Porsche characterizes as "arguably the most comprehensive youth development program in motor racing" and saw the marque return to Le Mans last year with a dominant 1-2 class victory.
Kristen, now 59 years old, is leaving the German automaker, but will remain an advisor to the company's R&D department. Taking over as VP of Motorsport will be Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, who has until now been head of the 918 Spyder project (a responsibility he will continue). Walliser (pictured above, right) was previously Porsche's general manager for motorsport strategies and will now be responsible for Porsche's GT projects on and off the track, while Fritz Enzinger continues at the helm of the LMP1 program in pursuit of better results next year than the 919 Hybrid achieved at Le Mans last month.

2015 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S gets faster, more powerful [w/video]

Tue, Jan 13 2015

Porsche just isn't letting development of the Cayenne Turbo S cease. The 2014 edition was unveiled at last year's Detroit Auto Show boasting 550 horsepower from the brand's 4.8-liter twin-turbo V8, and it could hit 60 miles per hour in 4.3 seconds to a 175 mph top speed. Those seemed like very impressive specs for an SUV, but only a year later, the German brand has revealed an even more powerful take on its flagship trim in the model lineup. The 2015 Cayenne Turbo S now makes 562 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque from the same V8. The key to seeing such a significant boost in grunt so quickly is that the two turbos are now integral and are located directly in the exhaust manifolds. Porsche's eight-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox still routes power to all four wheels. All of the tweaks let the SUV hit 60 miles per hour in 3.8 seconds and a 176 mph to speed. Stopping should come quite rapidly too thanks to 16.5-inch diameter ceramic brake discs up front with 10-piston calipers. Of course, the Cayenne needs to be able to put that added grunt to good use. Porsche claims that the model can lap the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 7:59.74. Comparatively, the 550-hp Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR previously touted its SUV 'Ring lap record with a circuit in 8:14 in 2014. The Turbo S doesn't try hard to show off its added prowess, though. Up front, the bumper and undersides of the door mirrors are done in high-gloss black paint. Meanwhile, the roof spoiler and wheel arches are body color. The 21-inch wheels with black edges provide a little flash, and LED headlights are standard. The interior should be comfy too with black and creme leather and carbon fiber accents. The whole package rings up for $157,300, plus $995 destination and delivery, and US deliveries start in late April. Check it out in Porsche's video below. This content is hosted by a third party. The new Cayenne Turbo S The top athlete among SUVs At the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Porsche is also introducing the new Cayenne Turbo S – the top model of the sporty SUV model series. Its re-engineered 4.8-liter V8 biturbo engine now develops 570 hp (419 kW) and 800 Nm (590 ft lb) of torque. A chassis that is tuned for maximum driving dynamics and packs a wide range of control systems also makes the Cayenne Turbo S a genuine top athlete.

Porsche 911 Targa leaks out ahead of Detroit debut

Mon, 13 Jan 2014

With the doors of Cobo Center opening for the 2014 Detroit Auto Show this morning, Porsche is set to reveal its new 911 Targa in a matter of hours. But before it gets the chance, the first batch of images have already leaked out, courtesy of Chinese car site autohome.com.cn.
As expected, the new Targa appears to ditch the complex sliding glass roof panels that adorned recent versions of the semi-convertible 911 in favor of a more back-to-basics approach. An entirely removable roof panel opens up the sky, backed by a metallic B-pillar hoop in front of a large curved-glass rear window.
We'll have to wait just a little longer for the full scope of images and all the official details, but we're expecting the new Targa to carry most of the same technical specifications as the 991 on which it's based. Watch this space for more.
