What you are about to fall in love with and bid to win, is a purpose built, fully caged, monster of a 1977 Porsche 930 track car! It has tons of goodies. The engine is a 1980 3.3 liter intercooled turbo motor (engine code 930/60), that was pulled from a 30K mile car, was thoroughly inspected by one of the most respected Porsche shops in South Florida, and found to be so perfect, that the owner of the shop recommended the studs be replaced (there was nothing wrong with them, but if you know Porsches, you know why), and put back together. It runs absolutely perfect. Has custom exhaust with a single middle outlet. This car is as mean as they come! The sound is incredible. The pull is incredible. The car is incredible! I’ve owned a few Porsche’s, and this is the baddest one I’ve had! One of the greatest things about it is that it's a true 930! Gets lots of looks, and draws crowds everywhere I go. Not uncommon to hear the words “This guy is nuts”, when people are looking it (mind you, they have to scream it out if they are standing behind the car!)! Scares old ladies and children just by sitting there idling! And best of all, it’s street legal. The roll cage was built to NASCAR specs by a person that builds roll cages for NASCAR. Suspension has been modified from torsion to full race coil overs. Has a carbon fiber hood, fiberglass period correct whale tail, and fiberglass front and rear RS bumpers. Wheels on the car right now are the factory 15X9 Fuchs. For those in the know, I'll repeat that... FACTORY 15X9 FUCHS! It has the 15X8's up front. Again, if you know Porsche, you know they aren't a big deal... They're a HUGE deal! Needless to say, the car may be sold with a set of 16x8 and 16x7 Turbo Fuchs, so bid fast, or hit buy it now. If I go ahead and remove the wheels I will update the listing. Either way, it has very new tires right now, and will have new one’s if I swap out the wheels. Brand new 4-spd transmission. The interior boasts a carbon fiber Sparco race seat, Momo Steering wheel, RS door panels, full roll cage, Lexan windows on the rear qtrs., and doors, and a VERY clean job at gutting the interior. This is one of, if not the cleanest 930 track car, and maybe even one of the cleanest 930’s overall that you will find. Great track day or vintage racing car. Also good to just run around to car meets and shows. I do not have any documentation on the car, but PPI's are very welcome! If you want to do a PPI, you must pay for it, and it must be done prior to your bid winning, or before hitting buy it now. I will not allow any PPI's after the auction has closed, as I know the game, and a post auction BS PPI is the easiest way out of a deal. PPI's are to be done by local, respectable Porsche only shops. No backyard mechanics are getting anywhere near my car! You will not be disappointed. Car is located in Miami, FL., and is listed locally for sale. I reserve the right to end the auction early should I sell it locally. If you are local, or want to visit sunny South Florida, please call Ralph at 786-587-3991 to arrange a viewing. Also, if anyone wants to see it in person there are a couple caveats… No dreamers, NO tire kickers, and definitely NO joy rides. As a matter of fact, no test drives until I see $$$$$. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Clean and clear title. Vehicle is sold AS-IS without any warranty whatsoever, expressed or implied.

Le Mans-winning Porsche 935 K3 'seized' by DEA agents

Thu, 16 Jan 2014

Porsche has won Le Mans more than any other marque, but only one of those overall race winners was actually based on a 911. That was the 1979 Porsche 935 K3, chassis number 009 00015 that was entered by brothers Don and Bill Whittington. It went on to win at the Nürburgring and Watkins Glen, and scored podium finishes at Sebring and Brands Hatch as well. In short, it's a historically significant and hugely valuable piece of motorsport history. And it was just seized by the DEA. Sorta.
After the Whittington brothers ran afoul of a handful of lawsuits and were implicated in smuggling narcotics, the car changed hands a few times before ending up in the noted collection of one Bruce Meyers. He had it at Laguna Seca earlier this month when a black Suburban, Dodge Charger and transporter truck pulled up with government plates, asked to speak with Meyer, presented him with a court order, loaded the car onto the truck and drove off.
Though familiar with the legal disputes surrounding the ownership of the car and the misdeeds of its famous original owners, Meyer was left understandably distraught over the events that had just unfolded in front of him to separate him from his pride and joy. (Or one of them, anyway; Bruce has got an eminently desirable collection of classic cars.) But here's the kicker: those DEA agents weren't actual DEA agents. Fortunately they weren't thieves, either. The actual story could have been the plot right out of Ocean's 14 if they ever made one and it focused on classic cars. (Is anyone in Hollywood listening?)

Porsche 918 Spyder burns to ground in gas station conflagration

Mon, 29 Sep 2014

There's one fewer Porsche 918 Spyder zipping along the roads of Toronto, Canada, today. A fire at a gas station over the weekend claimed one of the hybrid supercars in a massive blaze, and a portion of the inferno was caught on video.
According to our partners to the North at Autoblog Canada, the cause of the fire hasn't been officially confirmed yet, but witnesses reportedly claimed gasoline somehow came into contact with the hot exhaust outlets that exit out of the top of the supercar's engine bay. This was just one of two 918s believed to be in the Toronto area.
Other than a possible broken heart from the owner, the fire reportedly caused no injuries, and only the Porsche and gas pump appeared to sustain serious damage. Warning, the video of the conflagration does contain some explicit language.

Editors’ Picks July 2022 | Volvo XC60, 911 GT3 and a hot Hyundai

Tue, Aug 16 2022

This latest rendition of Editors’ Picks sees us recognize some enthusiast-focused vehicles on both sides of the price spectrum and a luxury SUV. The 911 GT3 was an easy shoo-in, but the Hyundai Elantra N is what surprised us the most. WeÂ’re sad to see the Veloster N bow out after this year, but at least the N model in its place is a worthy one. In case you missed our previous Editors' Picks posts, hereÂ’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in July that earned an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2022 Volvo XC60 2022 Volvo XC60 Recharge View 36 Photos Quick take: The Volvo XC60 is one of our favorite luxury crossovers, and the PHEV option is a killer setup. We dig the interior design, and the exterior is attractively Swedish, too. Score: 7.5 What it competes with: Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Genesis GV70, Jaguar F-Pace, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, Audi Q5, Lexus NX, Acura RDX, Volvo XC60, Lincoln Corsair, Infiniti QX50, Porsche Macan Pros: Great design, epic PHEV option, intriguing interior design options Cons: Tech can be cumbersome, big wheels lead to a stiff ride From the editors: Road Test Editor Zac Palmer — "When it comes to plug-in hybrids, there's no better compact crossover option than the XC60 Recharge. I really dig the extra-powerful electric motor and larger battery Volvo added this year. The interior wool option is my pick of the bunch, but I am a little disappointed that there aren't as many physical buttons throughout the interior as there were before." News Editor Joel Stocksdale — "Although it's got some age, the Volvo XC60 is still an excellent premium SUV. It's as handsome as ever with its clean, modern design inside and out, and feels genuinely luxurious. But what really sets the XC60 apart is its available plug-in hybrid powertrain. It's smooth and refined, and best of all, it's still great in electric mode.
