The Porsche 930 is a legend to enthusiasts all over the world, impressed by its incredible power and stunning looks. This Classic automobile was Porsche’s top-of-the-line model throughout its intermittent production from 1975-1989. Known to every car enthusiast simply as the Turbo, the 930 was always among the fastest sports car money could buy.

Porsche experts agree: the 930 in its final version (1986-’89) was the best Turbo ever built as it struck the perfect balance between old school and jet age.  It was the first to incorporate technological advancements which dramatically increased horsepower and improved road handling. It was the last to feature the "classic" body style; free of complex emissions equipment, stability control, and other electronic systems that limit the driver's input.

A mere 1,605 U.S. spec Turbos were built in 1987; few of these monster Porsches have survived, even fewer are in pristine condition. Here's one!

In January 1987, VIN *WP0JB0932HS050782* left the gates of Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, West Germany and sold new at Hoehn Motors in San Diego, CA.

Living a sheltered life among a private Porsche collection owned by a prominent businessman in Monterey, the car has never left the Golden State.

Hence, a unique opportunity arises to obtain a coveted Turbo, one that enjoyed a most beneficial climate, pampered beyond belief by a mature owner with big pockets and the willingness to pay up for the best service money can buy.

Let's check out this dream find now, inside and out!

We start our inspection with the trunk, since this area can deliver valuable clues about a Porsche's true condition.

Complete tool roll and original tire inflation compressor kit are still present. Extra treats seen here are a 6-disc CD changer and tool box.

Below the perfect gray felt mat, everything looks pristinely original.

The naked trunk reveals the naked truth. From the untouched VREDESTEIN Space Master spare to the corrosion free battery area; everything is as virginal as it gets.

Concours ready, literally.

And yes, the Guards Red (factory code G1G1) paint is 100% original!

To call the paint "well preserved" would be a gross understatement; the truly marvelous finish has retained its magical luster over the years and still appears stunningly beautiful today.

This Turbo has never suffered any damage; there are virtually no door dings or rock chips to report.

Hood and door gaps are in perfect alignment; confirming the Turbo's pampered existence for the past 27 years.

A very desirable option: the electric sunroof.

Let the sunshine in!

Other Turbo options include power brakes, power/heated mirrors, power windows, headlight washer jets, and rear window wiper.

The lowered stance, deep front valance and large rear spoiler are no visual gimmicks, mind you.

With acceleration from zero to sixty in the sub 5-second range and a top speed of nearly 180mph, aerodynamics are a vital part of survival.

So are the brakes, by the way, hugely sized multi-caliper units grabbing drilled discs, derived straight from the famous Porsche 917 Can-Am race car.

Larger 17” replica FUCHS forged alloy wheels are a dramatic improvement in both looks and performance on the Turbo

…especially when fitted with fresh Bridgestone Potenza RE11 255/40R17s, out back and 225/45R17s in front.

While we’re down on one knee, let’s have a look underneath.

More important than shiny paint is a healthy undercarriage.

This original chassis presents itself free of any kind of damage or corrosion.

What looks like a brownish layer of dust or baked-on road dirt here and there is actually the original Cosmoline coating, a waxy corrosion inhibitor liberally applied with a spray gun to the undercarriage after final assembly at the factory, for the sake of protection.

Area below trunk, including the front suspension pan, looks marvelous as well. It's damage free, clean as a whistle, with all factory finishes preserved in reference quality.

Again, there's no rust, no flaking, no damage, just the all-original finishes.

Cosmoline certainly lived up to its promise on this fine survivor!

Frog's eye view. Notice stainless steel exhaust system.

Engine's bottom end, dry and clean.

Not a single oil leak to note.

Most importantly, there is absolutely NO evidence of rust, or any other mishap that would cause the enthusiast sleepless nights.

Peeking inside this Turbo, luxury is abundant.

This Carrera comes with the full leather interior that exudes a fantastic aroma; let's investigate!

The inviting, Factory Optioned, 6-way power Sport Seats with height adjustment were special order and will easily accommodate a 6'6"-tall NBA player.

Italian cow hides grace virtually every surface inside: dash, front and rear seats, door panels, and side panels; all this is complemented by deep velour carpeting and plush mats exclusive to the Turbo.

Books, manuals, and documents found inside the red vinyl pouch include the owner's manual, maintenance book, dealer directory, accessories brochure and radio instruction manual.

There are also spare keys.

Fully optioned with ice cold A/C, power disc brakes, heated mirrors, power windows; and everything works perfectly, of course.

The iconic 911 cockpit featuring five large, circular, white-on-black dials with bright orange pointers are a timeless design.  You can't improve upon perfection!

The 034,408 miles shown on the 6-digit odometer are original!

The condition of this leather interior is consistent only with a cherished, low-mileage car that's been garaged all its life.

Factory-prescribed, large whale tail rear spoiler feeds huge air-to-air intercooler with all the fresh oxygen it needs.

How about a quick peek under the deck lid?

Inside the toothbrush-clean engine bay, lives Porsche's fabled 3.3-liter turbo power plant, developing 287 Teutonic horses @5,500 rpm.

Even the factory decals are still in place.

Please, note that this matching numbers engine is completely stock and unmodified; even the emissions equipment is still present and fully operational.

This turbo runs super strong and displays no ill manners whatsoever--like smoking, oil piddling, or drinking.

Recently turned, cleaned and serviced, all fluids were changed. Dry as a bone and clean as a whistle.

Drivability:

The car runs, drives, handles, and stops flawlessly. Docile around town but above 4,500rpm, it sounds like a STIHL on steroids and it runs like a crazed ape!

Driving this collectible, exotic Porsche truly is an unforgettable, uniquely pleasurable experience. Its low mileage--the car has covered less than 1,300 miles annually, on average--certainly provides an extra dimension of satisfaction: there are no squeaks or rattles; this 930 feels as solid as a rock!

Here's your chance to acquire one of the last, all-original, Porsche 930 turbo supercars. This Porsche will deliver everything its aggressive exterior promises: extreme driving pleasures, undiminished prestige, and unlimited appreciation potential.

A scant 1,600 U.S. Turbos were made in '87; almost three decades later, not many low-mileage, rust free examples are left to choose from. As always, the best of the best are destined to appreciate steadily.

Presently, we have a clear, CA Title. Local sales tax, DMV license and transfer fees apply to residents in CA. All questions must be answered and all inspections must be completed PRIOR TO BIDDING. Top Gear brings together LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918

Mon, Jan 26 2015

Earlier this month, Top Gear released a brief video of the comparison test between three hybrid hypercars we'd all been waiting for: the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder. The story was done by the print magazine and not by the television show, and the video they released was barely over half a minute long, reserving the full version for subscribers of the iPad edition. Now the British mag has put the full video on YouTube, and while it's still only a minute and a half long – three times the length of the previous teaser – it's packed with electrified exotic goodness. The test surely took some serious wrangling to put together, and though the metal (or carbon fiber, as the case may be) was apparently furnished mostly by private owners, to hear Top Gear tell it, the manufacturers – Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche – were eager and helpful in putting the showdown together. For the final conclusions, we're afraid you'll still have to buy the magazine, but for a rare chance to watch all these three world-beaters on the same road at the same time, you'll want to scope out this latest video clip. Porsche Cayman GT4 looks sexy, rapid in the nude

Mon, Jan 5 2015

Porsche doesn't officially have a name for its more hardcore version of the Cayman, yet. The speculation is that the coupe is called the GT4 as a little brother to the 911 GT3. However, the German sports car maker apparently is not interested in keeping the model's looks much of a secret because these latest shots show it without a hint of camouflage to speak of. The GT4 reportedly takes the GT3's ethos of more power, less weight and stickier-than-glue handling and brings it all to the Cayman. As these photos show, there's a much lower air dam up front with a cooling vent at the tip of the hood. Larger wheels are another obvious addition and are likely shod with some very sticky rubber. At the back, there's a double spoiler combining a wing and a ducktail. The power and gearbox for the GT4 remains a mystery, though. The rumor is that it uses a tuned version of the 3.4-liter flat-six in the Cayman S and GTS to make between 370 and 400 horsepower. A similar overhaul of the Boxster might be on the way, as well. A version of the convertible wearing some of the Cayman GT4's goodies was recently spotted testing. That one even had a manual transmission to make the prospects behind the wheel even more exciting.

Porsche 911 RSR in bizarre, terrifying rally crash

Sun, 22 Sep 2013

As far as rally crashes go, this one is pretty terrifying. At this month's Hellendoorn Rally, Harry Kleinjan failed to negotiate a turn and drove his Porsche 911 RSR straight into a Jersey barrier, flipping the car into the river.
While it's unclear what caused the accident, German Car Scene notes, "We can see his brakes locking up ahead of the impact, which also ripped both driver's side wheels off, so it may be a case of ill-judged late braking, locking brakes or a jammed throttle." Us? We're betting it might have been bad pace notes. Fortunately for Harry and his co-driver, all indications are that no one was hurt. Check out the videos below to see the spectacular crash for yourself.
