1989 Porsche 928 on 2040-cars
Paso Robles, California, United States
Feel free to email: verdellvlleavens@manufans.com . The 928 might have failed to replace the 911, but it is bold and beautiful, breaking the mold as Porsche's first
clean sheet design.
Many savvy second-hand buyers less concerned with such high ideals as they were with the business of driving a
fast, capable, sophisticated car at a fraction of list price snapped them up early on. These second owners enjoyed
their 928s until something expensive broke or needed servicing, leaving the car looking a bit less bargain-like.
Flipped onto third, fourth, and sometimes fifth owners, deferred maintenance, inexpensive (and incorrect) fixes,
and plain old abuse has taken its toll on most used 928s, leaving it very difficult to find a clean, low-mileage,
and unmodified car until very recently.
While the 356 and 911 are consistent good earners, the 928 has flown under the radar of many and now it is
experiencing quite a rise in value. Over the past 3 years, prices have risen considerably according to many car
enthusiasts, with S, S4, GT, and GTS models at the tip of this trend - in fact, these cars have seen closer to a
30% increase one year alone.Zero rust, and the paint is factory original in amazing shape with the leather interior being just as well.
Nothing hacked up about this car, rubber is good and the engine is tight. All 90K mile service has been recently
completed and the car is ready for the road. She enjoys cruising for admiration, but performs better with speed -
just like a racehorse who loves to gallop. Smoke free, two owner car. This Porsche is a dream to own!!

2015 Porsche Panamera Exclusive Series is a seriously quick way to spend $260k
Wed, 19 Nov 2014Porsche is usually associated with being a sports car brand, but with vehicles like the Cayenne and Panamera it takes a step into the world of luxury against firmly established players like Mercedes-Benz. One way for the company to poke its head above the high-class fray is by taking things further, and in the case of the Panamera Exclusive Series at the Los Angeles Auto Show, it means pushing grandeur to extreme levels.
Coming in at an absolutely eye-watering $263,900, plus $995 destination, the Panamera Exclusive starts its life as the already sumptuous Panamera Turbo S Executive with a 4.8-liter, twin-turbo V8 making 570 horsepower on an extended wheelbase. To help justify the extra $63,000 for the Exclusive, though, the model gets 20-inch black Sport Classic wheels and an interior in swaddled in Nappa leather with dark walnut and piano black trim. Rear passengers also get 10.1-inch touchscreens mounted on the back of the front seats. A set of fitted Poltrana Frau leather luggage is included with each one, as well.
The luxurious sedan earns it Exclusive moniker because just 100 of them are being made worldwide. Scroll down to read about Porsche's ultimate limousine.
Porsche revisits the 911's dirty side with rally history film
Fri, 03 Jan 2014It might not be a coincidence that there are rumors of Porsche revealing a safari version of the 911 at April's Beijing Motor Show, just as the Dakar Rally is about to begin. Adding fuel to the dusty desert fire is a just-released official video of Jeff Zwart driving the Porsche 953 that Jacky Ickx drove to victory in the 1984 edition of the race.
In the video, the seven-time Pikes Peak International Hill Climb winner talks about how he grew up with the 911; it wasn't only the car he learned to drive in, it was his choice of racecar no matter whether the course was tarmac or the dirty stuff.
You can decide for yourself if these recent events are mere coincidence while you enjoy the 953's exhaust note in the video below. If you've got the time to see the 953 during its race-conquering drive and find out what the ersatz Paris-Dakar Rally used to be, we've also included a broadcast of that 1984 race below as well. Fast-forward to 19:44 to see the Porsches cross the open dessert and 29:09 to watch one of them tackle the dunes.
Production Porsche 918 Spyder images leak out of Chinese patent office
Wed, 26 Dec 2012A few images of what looks to be the production Porsche 918 Spyder are here to say hello, courtesy of a patent office in China. If these provide an accurate look at what the hybrid supercar will look like, there are a few differences between it and the latest examples of the pre-production prototypes our spy shooters have seen.
The jerry-rigged turn signals inside the headlight enclosures and on the front fenders on the prototype are replaced with more polished units inside the headlamps located underneath the main beams. Behind that, the door handles have been swapped from horizontal latches on the door to vertical openings located just behind the door shutline.
We've also seen a Martini-liveried version of the 918 Spyder that has extra carbon elements that don't appear on this car. It was at the Nürburgring with carbon lips on the front fenders and another carbon element that hung from the rear fenders and ran down to the rear diffuser. When we saw the car on our Deep Dive piece, the front lips were gone but that rear piece remained, and we can't tell from the brochure and options sheet that we've seen so far what it comes with. The wheels from the concept and the green brake calipers, minus the polycarbonate covers, should be the standard fitment while the ten-spoke magnesium wheels will be a 29,750-euro (about $39,000 US) option.
