Okay Porsche fans- up for sale or trade is a real nice bullet proof 1987 -928 S4. Car is a 7 out 10 for a 26 year old vehicle. Has same history as all 928's when it comes to fuses ,relays ,old connections. Ocassionaly you need to replace relays or clean contacts on items as they oxidize over the years. If I was going to keep car ( and had the physical ability ) I would just spend a saturday and clean all contacts and grounds and be done with it rather then doing it as things crop up. Everything works ,air is blowing only cool, not cold, has front and rear air probably just needs recharge ,seals leak after 26 years, has been sitting in garage for 2 years with only being driven once a month to keep it lubed up. I bought it 3 years ago from a Porsche fan in Penn,( he had car for years ,) to have fun with but conditions changed. Wheels have been refinished 1 year ago, perfect, new Z rated Avon special tyres from Europe. Brembo brakes. Devek racing equiped headers and chip. 5 spd . Perfect 50/50 balance front to back. if you are not familiar with these cars, google them. Front edge of clear coat on sunroof wearing off. Simple fix, oh, same on windshild wiper valence. Probably 200 dollar job at paint shop for respray. Have all printed 9 volume manuals for car and some miscellan new parts, window switchs, relays ,porsche goodies, original blauplaunt radio etc. Car has flip-face Kenwood remote control stereo and sounds great. Seats have lite cracking and patina but are overall pretty good. No dents , rust or broken glass. Car always draws comments and many wonder what kind of new car it is. Was WAY ahead of it's time. 80,000 dollar in 1987! Techno wonder and still a very fast car even by todays standards. Most rice burners are just a joke when they want to try and run with a 928. Timing belt serviced 6 months ago and adjusted , new plug wires installed at same time. All alum body V 8- 32 valve engine , puts out about 375 hp with the Devek factory mods. Sounds awesome , even better than a ford boss 302 sounds. Super cool, real nice ,rare 5 spd true sports car. NADA value 10,800 low, 13,800 average, 18,300 high . I will consider a trade for a 2004-2006 Jaguar XJR only. Let me know what you have. Call James 239-691-3533 with all questions.

Auto journalist ordered to pay big money for blowing up Porsche 917 engine [UPDATE]
Tue, 22 Jan 2013Racecars blow engines all the time, but a Porsche 917 isn't just a run-of-the-mill racecar. British automotive writer Mark Hales reportedly borrowed a 917 from 82-year-old former Formula One racer David Piper for a magazine article, and mechanical tragedy ensued. Nobody is arguing that the engine failed after being spun to 8,200 rpm. However, Hales was warned not to exceed 7,000 rpm, says owner Piper, and the affair landed in English courts with Piper seeking £50,000 - over $79,000 US - in reimbursement funds for an engine rebuild and loss of use of the car while it was being repaired. Judge Simon Brown ruled in favor of car owner Piper, putting Hales on the hook for £110,000 ($174,000) including legal fees - a whole lot of money in any language.
Hales says the Porsche suffered a mechanical fault while lapping that allowed it to slip out of gear and over-rev. Piper wasn't convinced, and sought to have the repair paid for by the guy who broke the racer, saying "If you bend it, you mend it." It's not like Hales is a novice driver, having seat time in both professional and amateur races over 30 years, notching about 150 wins, but even the best drivers sometimes miss a shift, and that's what Piper contended happened to his car.
According to reports, Hales has had to sell most of his valuables to pay his lawyers and is now facing bankruptcy with the ruling against him. Members of the Pistonheads website are trying to coordinate a collection to help him out, as well.
MotorWeek proves '90s were awesome with Supra, Stealth, RX-7, Corvette, 968, 300ZX comparo
Thu, 24 Jul 2014Oh, the heady days of 1993, back when the Clinton Presidency was just getting underway, and it seemed like every hot new rock band was coming out of Seattle. Sports cars in the US had finally shaken off the shackles that slowed them during the '70s and '80s, and you could buy any number of legitimately quick vehicles again. MotorWeek recently went digging into its archives to find this six-model test from 1993 showing off some of the best semi-affordable performance coupes that money could buy at the time, and it's priceless.
Featuring the 1994 model year Toyota Supra in twin-turbo guise and MY 1993 versions of the Porsche 968, Nissan 300ZX TT, Mazda RX-7, Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo and Chevrolet Corvette LT-1, MotorWeek definitely covered all of the bases. One thing that might surprise younger readers is these cars' performance. The video only provides 0-60 acceleration times, but several of these vehicles would still be considered pretty potent today - over 20 years since going on sale. The Supra is especially impressive, hitting 60 miles per hour in just 5 seconds. Even today, that's nothing to sneeze at.
Given their performance potential and still-attractive looks, it's amazing that some of these coupes are old enough to drink now. The progress of interior design and safety equipment in the intervening years is pretty shocking, though. In most of these models, having two airbags is touted as a big deal. Scroll down to watch a Throwback Thursday blast from the past about some of the '90s best sports cars.
All the crazy stuff we saw at McCall's Motorworks Revival
Thu, Aug 18 2016Every year, Gordon McCall puts on a lavish event packed with rare cars and planes (and the type of people that can afford rare cars and planes). And every year, more ridiculous stuff shows up. It's the good kind of machine overload. It's likely the only place in the world where you'll see a line of BMW 3.0s next to some Paganis next to a Porsche 911 by Singer Design next to a Ferrari salt racer next to a custom Olds Riviera next to the latest from Koenigsegg next to he coolest stuff Shelby ever made next to a hangar filled with McLarens, including a few P1 GTRs. And then all of that is surrounded by private jets, fighters, and planes that could have flown in directly from WWII. In a word, it's insane. Walk through the gallery above to get a taste for what was there this year for the event's 25th anniversary.
