1987 928 S4 Auto, I took this car in on trade for a GTO Convertible it had been sitting for a year or so after the transmission cooler line started leaking (common for 928 S4 with catylitic converters as they cook the original rubber lines). The transmission lines have been repaired, and since we have put several hundred miles on this car. This 928 runs and drives very nice it is solid, and I would not be afraid to jump in it and take it on a road trip. The A/C is cold there are no lights on on the dash and everything works as it should. This car shows some almost imperceptible paintwork but has no signs of damage anywhere all panels have the Vin tags on them. The Kumo tires have 90% tread left on them, however there is a little cracking on the sidewalls. The timing belt and water pump has been replaced by previous owners. The original spare tire and Porsche air compressor is in the car. The original tools are missing. I have lots of pics of this car and if you would like something in specific let me know. Porsche announces works team for United Sportscar Championship
Tue, 24 Sep 2013Porsche is undoubtedly the most successful manufacturer in sportscar racing, and it's only upping its game. The German marque is launching its new LMP1 racer for Le Mans in pursuit of overall victory once again, and now that sportscar racing in North America is coming together under one banner in the United Sportscar Championship, Porsche has announced it is entering the fray with a works team here as well.
The new Porsche North America racing team will field two cars in the entire inaugural season of the Tudor United Sportscar Championship that's been formed out of the former Grand-Am and American Le Mans Series. The team will be based out of the Porsche Motorsport North America facility in Santa Ana, California, and will partner with three-time ALMS LMPC winners Core Autosport in getting a pair of the latest 911 RSR racecars to the front of the GT Le Mans class.
Drivers have yet to be announced, but are projected to be drawn out of Porsche's factory driver program, which includes such talents as Patrick Long, Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas and Neel Jani. Keep reading below for the official announcement.
Can a Corvette really be compared to a 911 with options costing more than the Chevy?
Wed, 29 Jan 2014In this latest video from Drive, Chris Harris asks straight away, "Can you still compare a base Corvette to a Porsche Carerra?" That's an particularly interesting question in this film, as the 911 in question is a 400-horsepower Carrera S model that's been fitted with $60,000 in options. Base price of a Corvette Stingray? $51,995. Harris' tester features an automatic and some other goodies that push it right up to that $60,000 range. So yes, the options on the Porsche cost as much as this entire 460-hp Chevrolet.
Harris stresses that this isn't a full review, but he does exercise both cars in a more composed manner before reverting to his traditionally exuberant driving style. The impressions are, as always, spot on, with Harris favoring the pointy nature and V8 power of the Stingray, while enjoying the gearbox (Porsche's exceptional PDK transmission) and just about everything else on the 911.
