1986.5 5-speed Porsche 928 S Turbocharged 22,900 Miles, 2-owner Concours Gt Gts on 2040-cars
Austin, Texas, United States
Parting with my beloved after 7 years of great car shows,
OCIC, and ThirdCoast Events, usually placing/winning entered events including
another 1st place at the regional annual 928 Third Coast show last weekend. No wrecks, never been disassembled (engine or body) for any reason Imported in Cali, shipped to the northeast US for a while,
then to Honolulu where I purchased in Hawaii in 2006 with 10,700 miles from
first owner Had been washed 20x and
waxed 3 (yes, he knew). Porsche of Honolulu wouldn't take my $ for a PPI:
car was known by all in the shop to be basically as-new....even the 20-year old
t-belt! I have scans of both the original title from Original window sticker $54,900 new in '86. Window sticker is now hard-laminated and included with sale. Red/black, some leather options such as rear seat backs, door sills, and rear quarters. Mink-oil conditioned Leather is 10/10, interior is 10/10. It is as-new in all respects: texture, softness, stitching, coloration, no stretching, etc. Only the radio unit has been modernized and the ashtray replaced with an AEM Wideband gauge and an AEM TruBoost boost controller. Original ashtray will be included in sale of car, though car has NEVER been smoked in and still smells new. 8-way power on both seats Stored in my Air Conditioned garage and rarely sees sunlight. Yes, the dashboard is perfect. Car did ship to original owner with both a vinyl and a leather sunvisor: weird. Rare side-molding delete option on an exquisite exterior 9.5/10 condition after 27 years. Paint ONLY receives the oily Natty's Red Paste wax to help preserve it's perfectly colored and sun-protected Guard's Red paint and all black trim/rubber seals. Never buffed, no paint burns. Rear-driver's 3/4 shot shows touched up scuffs from original owner. There are a few paint blemishes but overall presentation is stunning and there are panels on the which remain showroom perfect in all respects. No rock chips (except for mirrors which is common), just a few rock scuffs. All lenses, glass, seals, trim, rubber are as-new as if just rolled off the assembly line except for the lower door seals where a linear crack is evident as they are on all 928’s purely based on the pressure placed on them over the last 27 years. Seal itself is perfect and does not accumulate wax nor is the crack noticeable; it’s just there so I must disclose that.
Turbocharger kit was installed in 2007: a single
Dual-ballbearing T67mm Precision unit with the kit manufactured by
Boostlogic.com Performance Racing parts - Boostlogic.com Performance Racing
parts and myself. Tuned to 405rwhp/400rwtq at mere 5.5psi with custom timing
chips by Sharktuner and an SMPT-6 piggy back fuel tuner. A Bosch 044 fuel
pump and new fuel filter was added in ’07 during kit installation. No lag, great sound, super reliable as I’ve
not adjusted/touched a single aspect of the turbo kit since it’s installation
in ’07.
Dual air conditioning converted to R134a by the
Butter-smooth shifting 5-speed with Original clutch. I've
owned 5 other 928's including the pictured race car: this car drives/shifts
as-new in all respects. Other items: 3M tint, 3M clear bra, retrofitted HID
Fogs in factory housings. Lloyd's "turbo" 928 floor mats, adjustable
sway bar, front Koni's, original brake rotors and pads, 18x10 & 18x8 Sport
Edition Cup wheels (245/35), and 295/30 road race R888's in the rear because
spinning the tires at 80mph tends to drain your adrenaline pretty quick.
No oil leaks. Maintenance: 2006 when received: t-belt,
idler bolt bushings, all fluids flushed (redline, ATE Super blue, G05 w/water
wetter and a 75 degree t-stat), new ignition wires, plugs (for turbocharging).
New tie rods and delrin bushings at PS rack + alignment to sharpen steering
after lowering 1.25"
2007: turbo kit, front Koni's, epoxy-painted calipers, SS
brake lines, ATE Super blue. OIl changed every 2k miles: Valvoline Racing 20/50
with OE Porsche filters.
Factory air box, air tubes, catalytic converters available
with car...car passed Texas emission testing EASILY while
turbocharged...without cats. Video's available on Youtube under
PorscheMark69
All records, hard-laminated window sticker, factory
books/manuals, luggage cover, cargo net, three keys, and OEM '86 Porsche car
cover all included with sale.
open to other '85-00 Porsche partial trades
Will deliver within 200 miles of This
car is known to be the lowest mile 86.5 in the country. It’s probable that it’s nicer than any GTS
you may be looking at currently…so why
pay more for a car that’s not in as good of condition and is slower or worse,
is an automatic. You REALLY want the 5-speed…makes all the difference on 928s! It's reserve is
priced accordingly but is also the best out there in addition to the low
mileage. It's light, fast, not too quiet, smooth, classic, it handles, it
brakes, and draws attention wherever it goes. I reserve the right to cancel
this auction due to it being posted on the PCA national site as well as a few
other places. Email me if you really want it now. :) Good luck. |

Recharge Wrap-up: 2015 Fuel Economy Guide available, how Porsche ships 919 Hybrid
Fri, Nov 7 2014The EPA and Department of Energy have released the 2015 Fuel Economy Guide. Unsurprisingly, the groups say that this year features more fuel efficient and low-emissions vehicles than previous years, and they span a greater variety of vehicle types. The guide also provides "best-in-class" lists, greenhouse gas ratings and estimated fuel costs for each vehicle. The EPA and DOE hope that car buyers will use the guide to help choose cars that are better for the environment and the climate. Check out the guide for yourself or read more in the press release below. To get from one WEC race to the next, Porsche ships its 919 Hybrid LMP1 cars by air. As the team travels around the world - from continent to continent - it must take 35 tons worth of cargo with it, including two LMP1 cars. That means draining fluids, partially dismantling the cars, and fitting everything into a 747. The team also ships items by sea, which requires shipping extra sets of items due to the longer shipping times. "It's all about efficiency," according to Porsche. The A4000i, which features smartphone connectivity, will be the company's European flagship model. Terra Motors will begin selling in Italy, and plans to make arrangements to sell in several more countries shortly after. Terra hopes to set up manufacturing in Europe, as well. Also on display at EICMA is the company's Bizmo II electric scooter, which has a driving range of 93 miles on a single charge. Read more in the press release below. Volkswagen is providing a 2015 e-Golf to Stanford University for research. The car will be used to study electric mobility, improvements in the driving experience and people's driving behavior and attitudes toward EVs. "Volkswagen's longstanding relationship with Stanford has allowed us to push the boundaries of automotive research and innovation," says Volkswagen's Ewald Goessmann, "and we look forward to extending our work together to drive advances in electric vehicles." Roger Rodas' Widow Suing Porsche Over Carrera GT Crash
Tue, May 13 2014Investigations undertaken by local law enforcement may have vindicated Porsche from any wrongdoing in the crash that killed actor Paul Walker and racing driver Roger Rodas last year, but the latter's widow is apparently not convinced. According to emerging reports, Kristine Rodas has filed a lawsuit seeking unspecified damages from Porsche Cars North America. In her suit filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court, Rodas' attorney Mark Geragos reportedly disputes the findings of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which asserted that the vehicle was traveling at an unsafe speed of 90 miles per hour on city streets, identifying the speed as the cause of the accident. Instead the lawsuit claims that the vehicle was only going 55 mph and that the cause of the crash was improper equipment – namely a faulty right rear suspension and the lack of a crash cage and proper fuel tank. "The Carrera GT was unsafe for its intended use by reason of defects in its manufacture, design, testing, component and constituents, so that it would not safely serve its purpose," according to the specifics of the suit obtained by the Los Angeles Times. When reached for comment, Porsche Cars North America spokesman Nick Twork told Autoblog: We are very sorry for the Rodas and Walker family's loss. The crash was the subject of a detailed investigation by the proper authorities (L.A. County Sheriff and California Highway Patrol), and their investigation disproves the allegations in the lawsuit. The investigation found that driving at a high speed in a negligent manner caused the crash and concluded that there was no mechanical defect. The Carrera GT is known as a difficult car to drive. As the LA Times report points out, Jay Leno spun one at Talladega in 2005, and the following year, Porsche paid part of a multi-million-dollar settlement after two were killed on a track when their Carrera GT struck a slower-moving Ferrari. The Rodas lawsuit could very well point to that previous suit from San Diego Superior Court. Whether the court in LA will hand down a similar ruling remains to be seen.
2015 Porsche Cayenne GTS proves performance is relative
Thu, Nov 20 2014The Turbo may be the most powerful model in the Cayenne range, but the GTS is arguably the enthusiast's choice. (In so far as a 4,500-pound crossover can be considered an "enthusiast's choice," anyway.) And now, after refreshing the rest of the Cayenne lineup, Porsche has revealed the new Cayenne GTS, alongside its new 911 GTS stablemate, here at the LA Auto Show. Like the new Cayenne S, the new GTS drops the previous version's atmospheric V8 for a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6, but ups the output to 440 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque to propel Zuffenhausen's portliest to 62 in a scant 5.2 seconds. Alongside the power upgrade, the GTS gets a lowered air suspension and sportier exhaust, the beefier brakes from the Cayenne Turbo and an upgraded aero kit to help with the whole barn-door-profile thing. Just don't expect all that extra kit and the prestige of a Porsche badge on your crossover to come cheap, with prices starting at $95,500 (plus $995 destination).
