1982 Porsche 928 Base Coupe 2-door 4.5l on 2040-cars
Atlanta, Georgia, United States
Selling a classic, 1982 Porsche 928 with only ~ 87000 original miles. This is a beautiful car for the Porsche enthusiast.
1982 Porsche 928 V8 front engine Automatic 3 speed with close to 87000 original miles (the odometer has recently slowed down while counting mileage, the issue is a broken plastic gear behind the dash that can be replaced) The mileage shows 86500 but is closer to 87000 since the odometer reading has not been working properly just recently .Rebuilt transmission, new tires, new brakes, rotors, calipers, new brake lines, new battery, new belts, new fuel pump, new filter, new alternator, regular oil changes, new belts. A/C blows COLD, Heat is HOT. Recaro driver and passenger seats. Old style wooden Porsche steering wheel. Upgraded Porsche wheels. Runs and drives great. Car has been repainted with the original color however can use some touch ups in a few places. Rear hatch needs some minor paint and body work as well due to previous owner removing spoiler. Car comes with a GT style spoiler that has been taken off. The spoiler needs to be repainted and can be mounted on. At highway speeds occasionally front caliper may stick for short period of time causing a vibration but then goes back to normal (this does not effect braking by any means and can be further investigated to determine cause if you wish, possibly master cylinder needs adjustment) This issue can be fixed however this car is ready to drive as is. Interior overhead light does not work, probably just a light bulb needing replacement. Cruise control does not function but I never had to use it. The car has been serviced and worked on by a master Porsche Ferrari Lamborghini specialist here in the Atlanta area while in my possession. Email with questions. Serious buyers only who want to own a piece of Porsche history and know what it takes to maintain a 928. Great car for a Porsche enthusiast restoration project or weekend ride. |

Magnus Walker and Alex Ross stop by Leno's garage with their 997 GT2
Mon, Feb 9 2015The market is littered with Porsche 911 tuners, with names like 9ff, Gemballa and TechArt leading the field. Seldom do any two ever collaborate on a joint project, but that's just the kind of match that was made at Jay Leno's Garage. That's where Alex Ross of SharkWerks and restomodder Magnus Walker first met, sparking a collaboration that yielded the car you see here. And fittingly, they've brought it back to the garage to show off what resulted. Though Walker usually deals with older Elfens, this time he applied his eye for style on a more contemporary 2008 997 GT2, decking it out with grey stripes, orange bumpers, gold wheels and decals and a tartan-upholstered interior. He left the mechanical bits to Ross and company, who dropped the suspension and increased output to 650 horsepower at the wheels (775 at the crank), surpassing the stock GT2 and even the later GT2 RS. The result is pretty hard-core and old-school, but you'll want to watch the video above to see for yourself.
Ferrari return to Le Mans looking more likely?
Wed, 18 Dec 2013Statements made by Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo may indicate that the Italian brand could return to a form of racing it's been absent from for 40 years - prototype racing. That's right, LMP1 could see a factory Ferrari team for the first time since 1973, if a report from ESPN F1 is to be believed.
"We have won with the 458 GTE, but I also quite like the idea of racing at Le Mans in the highest category: who knows, maybe one day we can return and win, say thanks and come home," Montezemolo said. "Maybe we should give it some consideration..."
These seemingly idle, off-hand comments might not hold much water, were rumors about Ferrari's return to prototype racing not swirling as recently as August. There's also the fact that the upcoming, 1.6-liter, turbocharged V6 being used for Formula One complies with the Automobile Club de l'Ouest's own LMP1 regulations, according to ESPN. Finally, Ferrari returning to Le Mans might also explain this video of a camouflaged Ferrari LaFerrari testing a new turbocharged engine, which we showed you a few weeks back. There's a fair chance that what we're actually seeing in that video are the early stages of a new Ferrari prototype testing.
Horn, Hackenburg, Hatz to be fired as VW diesel scandal deepens
Thu, Sep 24 2015Volkswagen will sack three more high ranking executives, including the head of its US division, as the company's diesel scandal deepens. Reuters reported Thursday morning that the executives are: Michael Horn, who has led VW's US operations since January 1, 2014; Ulrich Hackenberg, who oversaw Audi's research and development; and Wolfgang Hatz, who was in charge of R&D for Porsche. A VW spokesman wouldn't comment in response to an Autoblog email. The moves come in the wake of longtime VW chief executive Martin Winterkorn stepping down on Wednesday. Volkswagen's board said at the time that it expected more personnel changes to follow. Volkswagen's board is scheduled to meet Friday, and Porsche CEO Matthias Muller has reportedly been named as Winterkorn's successor. The German auto giant was plunged into crisis last Friday when the EPA charged that the company manipulated software in its diesel-powered cars to pass US emissions tests. About 482,000 vehicles in the US are affected, and VW estimates 11 million around the world could have the rigged software. The revelations have prompted outcry from governments and regulatory agencies, and in the US, Volkswagen could face a fine of up to $18 billion. The departure of Horn, Hackenberg, and Hatz is a stunning downfall for three of the company's top and most visible executives. Horn had led US operations for less than two years, taking over from Jonathan Browning, who was well-respected but failed to reach VW's ambitious sales targets. Before overseeing Audi R&D, Hackenberg was hailed as a visionary for work in developing VW's modular architectures, which allow the company to save time and money by building many vehicles off the same chassis. Hatz had led Porsche R&D since 2011 and also was in charge of engines and transmission development for all of Volkswagen.
