This Porsche 928 was purchased in 2011 from another private owner.  It was taken care of by the previous owner and I just fell in love with it.  I called this beauty "The Red Rocket".  I have maintained the Red Rocket with regular oil changes and always put Premium Gasoline in the tank.  This car was driven for work over the last couple years and has 121,115 miles (not too bad for a 1979 car).  The body, paint, and tires are all in good condition.  We rebuilt the transmission and installed a brand new alternator two months ago to ensure a smooth and reliable drive.  Power Windows have been worked on and are in good working order.  A new hatchback lock has also been installed.  The dash lights and the Blaupunkt radio are in good working condition.  This car is a automatic transmission, but can be converted to manual if buyer desires.

I am currently moving across the country and regrettably this Porsche 928 is going up for auction and I hope that someone will enjoy driving it as much as I have over the last couple years.

The interior is a black leather, very comfortable but considering the car is 34 years old there is some normal cracking of the leather.  New leather seat covers have been installed for comfort.  The external red paint is original.  The body is in good shape.  There are storage compartments in the dash, in the doors and between the seats.  The driving position is fully adjustable.  The breaks on this car work well, but I think they need to be tightened a little.  The passenger side mirror is cracked, but still attached to the car.

The Red Rocket corners superbly and rides well.  This car has been Smog Tested and has passed all California emissions tests.  The exhaust has been beefed up and sounds great on the road.  This car has MUSCLE and it will MOVE on the road when you hit the gas!  This is a great car for a muscle car enthusiast or a guy/gal that wants a classic automobile.

If you have any questions or if you would like to see the car (located in Venice California), please feel free to contact us at brownscott2000@yahoo.com or call 773.230.3197.

A fun little movie fact:  The 1979 Porsche 928 is the car driven by Tom Cruise in the movie "Risky Business".  Although this is not the car from the movie I am sure the new owner will feel pretty cool driving a classic automobile like this on the road.

I am a very good Ebay seller and I will answer any question for you and work with the buyer in the best way possible to pickup or ship their new Porsche 928.

HAPPY BIDDING!!!

'Faster. Farther.' dives into the history of Porsche racing tech

Wed, 07 Aug 2013

No doubt, Porsche has produced some of the best endurance racecars around, such as the turbocharged, slant-nose 935 of the 1970s and the ground-effects-enhanced 956 and 962 of the 1980s. But the company's most famous racecar, its first overall winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, was the 917.
The 917 embodied many of Porsche's technological achievements up to that point, such as the company's first 12- and 16-cylinder engines (the flat-16 was never used in competition), fiberglass bodies that implemented early aerodynamic practices and the use of new, exotic materials, such as magnesium and titanium.
The racecar was commissioned by the head of Porsche Motorsports, Ferdinand Piëch, to win overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970, after he realized a loophole in the rules that allowed cars to compete with engines up to five liters in the Sport category if they were also production models. Piëch saw opportunity: the top prototype class was restricted to three liters; the production minimum to compete in Sport was 25 cars. And so, with much effort, Porsche assembled 25 "production" 4.5-liter 917s and had them parked in a neat line for the race inspectors to verify their legitimacy. It didn't take long before people realized the new Porsches were much faster than the prototype racers, with a top speed approaching 250 miles per hour.

The mid-engine Porsche backstory

Thu, 09 Oct 2014

As an automaker's identity evolves over years, its signature becomes defined by any number of factors - heritage (Mercedes-Benz), image (Lamborghini), or market share (Toyota). In the case of Porsche, it was an engineering quirk that forged the German company's most enduring character trait.
Porsche would not have survived - let alone, thrived - in today's saturated landscape had it not been for the 911, and that slope-tailed sports car wouldn't have sprung to life without its predecessor, the 356. While phenomenal success of those rear-engine icons built the company, forays into the mid-engine configuration have played a significant part in establishing the brand's identity.

The exotic '80s: Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus and the Porsche 959

Thu, Apr 9 2015

There's no secret that we are big fans of the MotorWeek Retro Review series around here. In an automotive world that often focuses on the latest tech and what's coming in the future, it's refreshing to take a look into the past to get a new perspective. That said, the show is really outdoing itself this time by posting a full episode from the '80s to YouTube, complete with the original, jazzy opening. The video is an absolute standout, too, with drives of some of the best supercars that Europe could offer at the time. Among the now classic sportscars that MotorWeek got to drive are the Ferrari 328, Lotus Esprit Turbo, Lamborghini Jalpa and Autokraft AC Mark IV. There's even a preview that sings the praises of the tech in the Porsche 959. The episode is basically a showcase of most of the exotics from young enthusiasts' walls and school folders during the '80s and is not to be missed.
