I just added some photos of the engine, etc. along with the vin#. and some addtl. info provided by a fellow Ebayer. For sale is a very nice example of the first year Porsche 928. It is an extremely rare European delivered model. The American -vs- European models differ in that the Euro models are sleeker. Euro models only have one side rear view mirror on the drivers side, and do not have the considered unsightly rear side reflector markers. This 928 is completely original, interior, exterior, etc. This 928 is in very very good condition. No rust that I can see. The pictures will speak for themselves. The only reason I am selling her is because I just dont drive it very much. It starts, runs, and drives excellently. This 928 is a 5 speed manual model. Tires and brakes are in excellent working order as well. The only thing that does'nt work is the in dash cassette/radio. I realize that most folks would likely want to upgrade the radio anyhow. An interested party did some research on my 928. Here is what he kindly informed me of;

Regarding the vin# 9288102430, the 8 after 928 indicates the Model Year, 8 for 1978.
The 1 incicates that it is the European Model with 177kW/240PS, American models have a 2 instead (169kW/229PS)
The 0 means Coupe
and the last 4 digits are the ongoing serial number. So, the European models like this one have more horsepower (240 hsp -vs- 229 hsp) than do their American counterparts. The auto can be seen, and driven in Carmel, Indiana. Pls. feel free to call me with any questions. Thank you! Brian 317 771 9294

Watch Porsche's 918 Spyder break a sweat while hot weather testing

Wed, 19 Jun 2013

With five months left until the 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder enters production, Porsche engineers are still putting the hybrid sports coupe through a battery of last-minute tests. To give us new reasons to ogle over the car - as if we needed any more - Porsche has released a short video showing the 918 Spyder undergoing shakedown tests in the hot Nevada desert. And you can't drive through Nevada without visiting Vegas, too, right?
Although there's really nothing new to see in this video, it's still fun to watch as Porsche approaches one million test miles logged on this exciting new high-performance model. One interesting part (at around the 0:37 mark) shows the car taking off under electric power and then transitioning to engine power, which results in a mix of whirs and growls as the 918 Spyder switches from a 127-horsepower electric vehicle to an 887-hp hybrid supercar. Scroll down to watch - and hear - Porsche's latest creation in motion.

Porsche's Tesla-fighter could have 600 hp and 300-mile range

Sun, Feb 22 2015

Will this be the Ragin' Pajun? Some details on the all-electric "Tesla fighter" from Porsche have been revealed by UK's Car magazine, and, to put it bluntly, the model that has preliminarily been dubbed the 717 will be an absolute beast when it hits the road as early as 2019. With some technological help from parent company Volkswagen, Porsche is planning a model that will have about a 300-mile single-charge range, and a version that may deliver as much as 600 horsepower. The four-door will also be four-wheel-drive, with one electric motor per axle, and four-wheel steering, all for the sake of consistency, Car says. Additionally, unlike the Tesla Model S, with its battery packs running flat along the floor of the vehicle, the 717's battery layout will be far more complex, complete with bulkhead walls and 108 separate battery pouches. Last month, German publication Auto Motor und Sport reported that the Panamera's junior variant, aka the Pajun, was indeed going to be an all-electric affair. Still, beyond a few digital renderings and an estimated single-charge range of 250 miles, few details were revealed.

World Car of the Year finalists announced

Fri, 07 Mar 2014

To say the 2014 Geneva Motor Show was packed full of news is an understatement as big as the show's home at the Palexpo convention center. Despite everything that we were able to cover during this year's show, there's still more coming out of Switzerland, including the announcement of the finalists for the 2014 World Car of the Year Awards.
We reported on the original list of finalists over three weeks ago, and now, that initial list has been pared down to three finalists for each of the five awards. The finalists were announced at a press conference by frequent Autoblog contributor and co-chair of the awards, Matt Davis (above).
The finalists for the overall title of 2014 World Car of the Year are the Audi A3, the BMW 4 Series and the Mazda3. The World Luxury Car of the Year will be either the Bentley Flying Spur, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class or the Land Rover Range Rover Sport, while the Performance Car of the Year will be awarded to the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, the Ferrari 458 Speciale or the Porsche 911 GT3 (which, um, yeah...).
