RE-LISTED DUE TO NON PAYING BIDDER (jhusard is the eBay handle, beware) WHO COULDN'T ADHERE TO THE SIMPLE POLICY THAT IF YOU HAVE ZERO FEEDBACK (& no money) PLEASE DO NOT BID. HE JUMPED IN LAST MINUTE AND 'WON' THE AUCTION, AND THEN, OF COURSE, VANISHED, AND NEVER RESPONDED OR FOLLOWED THROUGH, MAKING ME LOOK LIKE I'M PLAYING EBAY GAMES, WHICH I AM NOT. I'M SIMPLY TRYING TO SELL A VERY NICE, ORIGINAL PORSCHE 924, TO AN APPRECIATING ENTHUSIAST OR COLLECTOR. SO HERE GOES ROUND TWO... You are witnessing a rare opportunity at a true 'time capsule' Porsche 924, from 1978. When released in 1977, the 924 represented not only an entirely new direction for Porsche A.G., but also a number of big firsts for the company as well: First front engine model, first water cooled model, first optional automatic transmission. With the 1978 model year, came complete galvanizing, and comprehensive rust proof protection. At the top of the order, was the rare 'Limited Edition' model, loaded with every modern luxury and amenity available at the time. The example you are considering today, is among the cleanest, most original, well kept remaining anywhere. It was purchased new at Williams Porsche/VW by Dr. Gordon Devries, and has been owned by he and his family ever since (until this summer). With the vehicle purchase, comes not only the original window sticker, but also the original, hand written bill of sale (see pics). There is even a dash plaque presented from Porsche to Dr. Devries. The vehicle is even still titled in the original owner's name. Dr. Devries enjoyed his 924 on nice days on the short commute from home to the hospital for nearly 30 years before his retirement. It was only ever driven in friendly weather conditions. Any service and needs were always taken care of promptly through the years, and the 924 has also in the last year had a complete freshening, with new or updated battery, belts, brakes, and any other mechanical needs addressed. We even upgraded to R-134, and now the A/C blows ice cold. The car runs and drives as well as it did in 1978. There are subtle signs of loving use (a couple buffer marks, random scratches and nicks) that come with 35 years of careful use. They help to show the originality of the car. Early entry level Porsches (non 911 cars!), have shown an interesting pattern in the last several years. From the 912 to the 914, the once shadowed cars have really emerged as valuable and rapidly appreciating assets. Many feel the excellent handling (50/50 balance transaxle set up), and exceptional fuel economy will propel the 924 in value in the near future. The limited number of well kept original cars, will of course make those the catalysts of the curve. In their excellent and comprehensive collector vehicle evaluator, this is what automotive authority Hagerty has to say about the 924: "Today, the tables have turned somewhat and to some entry-level collectors, the 924 (particularly those in bright colors with the wild op-art checked “Pasha” interiors) can occasionally be more desirable than the more complex and maintenance-intensive. With fully galvanized bodies after 1977, the 924 can be a durable, simple fun first Porsche. The remaining few good ones are worth seeking out." The overall amazing original condition, coupled with the single ownership, loving care, and rare limited edition package put this example at the top of the 924 heap. Obtain yours now, before the world catches on to the unique combination of fun, high performance handling and economical value that the 924 represents. This is a NO RESERVE auction. High bid takes it, so bid to win & own! I encourage all potential buyers to come inspect the car in person prior to buying or bidding. Your bid is a binding contract. Feel free to call me with any questions or for more information. Car condition is subjective. I have owned over 100 Porsches, and am picky about my cars, but potential owners should decide for themselves if this car is for them. Car is sold AS IS, WHERE IS. I reserve the right to end the auction early for any reason. Transportation is ultimately the responsibility of the buyer. International bidders are welcome, but please have U.S. funds and transportation arranged prior to auctions end. Zero or negative feedback bidders please contact me prior to bidding or your bid may be cancelled. Please only bid or offer if you are serious. Finally, feel free to email or call me at 574-361-5315 with any questions, more details, or if you'd like to make an offer. Good luck! On Oct-11-13 at 15:40:48 PDT, seller added the following information: Due to a few requests, I shot a quick video of the car. Here is the link. Hope it's helpful! http://youtu.be/QYG_45BqrWk |

Ruf RGT 4.2 offers 518 hp of naturally aspirated power
Thu, Mar 5 2015Ruf has a reputation for building some fast interpretations of the Porsche 911, and the company's latest RGT 4.2 at the Geneva Motor Show provides an interesting point of comparison compared to the new GT3 RS that's debuting there. In terms of pure power, the Ruf wins out. The company crafts a flat six with 4.2-liters of displacement making 518 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque with a top speed of 200 miles per hour. In contrast, the latest GT3 RS gets 500 ponies and 338 lb-ft of twist from its direct-injected 4.0-liter mill. Depending on your desires, the RGT 4.2 might have the preferred gearbox too with its six-speed manual versus the Porsche's PDK. Styling is also going to come down to personal tastes between these two. The RGT 4.2 has an almost old-school racing look with its bolted-on fender flares, five-spoke wheels, thick carbon fiber rear wing and lower front air dam. Inside, there's also an integrated roll cage. The RS, on the contrary, appears thoroughly modern with its big fender intakes at the back, slashes just behind the front wheels, CFRP hood and magnesium roof. Check out Ruf's naturally aspirated monster on the Geneva show floor in the gallery, above. The RGT 4.2 maintains a long tradition of Ruf supercars with its outrageous driving performance. Unveiled in 2000, the first RGT was characterised by its powerful, torquey normally-aspirated flat-six engine. With a significantly reduced all-up weight and sports-oriented suspension system, the RGT was an extremely impressive driving machine. Now, in 2015, the RGT remains true its original concept, though its external appearance is clearly more athletic. The wheel arches are more bulbous and the front facade presents huge round air intakes for more effective cooling. The chassis is reinforced by RUF's hallmark Integrated Roll Cage (IRC). Propulsion is provided by its virile 4.2-litre six-cylinder, normally-aspirated engine, developing 525bhp and 500Nm of torque, featuring dry sump lubrication with external oil tank. Are you the next Porsche 911 GT3 RS or GT2?
Thu, 17 Apr 2014Porsche typically keeps to a suitably fast schedule when it comes to rolling out increasingly hard-core performance versions of the 911. After the 997 Carrera debuted in 2004, the GT3 version followed in 2006, and by the end of the 2007, Porsche had rolled out both the GT3 RS and GT2 versions. Then the facelifted 997.5 came out in 2008 and it was back to the start: the GT3 came in 2009, the GT3 RS and GT2 RS in 2010, and the GT3 RS 4.0 in 2011. But things have slowed down some with the latest 991 generation.
The new Carrera came in 2011 and the GT3 followed in 2012. By recent history's example, we should have at least two more hardcore models by now, but we don't. Maybe the engineers in Zuffenhausen have had their hands full fixing the spontaneous-combustion issues with the existing GT3, or maybe their attentions have been focused elsewhere altogether. But if these spy shots are anything to go by, it seems like they're back on the job.
Now we don't know if this prototype foreshadows a new GT3 RS or a GT2, but it sure looks more hard-core than the existing GT3 that many purists have derided as too soft, what with its automatic transmission and four-wheel steering.
Coronavirus prompts VW to stop production throughout Europe
Tue, Mar 17 2020FRANKFURT — Volkswagen Group, the world's biggest carmaker, is suspending production at factories across Europe as the coronavirus pandemic hits sales and disrupts supply chains, the company said on Tuesday. The German carmaker, which owns the Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Ducati, Lamborghini, Porsche, Seat and Skoda brands, also said that uncertainty about the fallout from coronavirus meant it was impossible to give forecasts for its performance this year. "Given the present significant deterioration in the sales situation and the heightened uncertainty regarding parts supplies to our plants, production is to be suspended in the near future at factories operated by group brands," Chief Executive Herbert Diess said on Tuesday. Volkswagen's powerful works council concluded it was not possible for workers to maintain a safe distance from each other to prevent contagion and recommended a suspension of production at its factories from Friday. Production will be halted at VW's Spanish plants, in Setubal in Portugal, Bratislava in Slovakia and at the Lamborghini and Ducati plants in Italy before the end of this week, Diess said. Most of its other German and European factories will prepare to suspend production, probably for two to three weeks, while Audi said separately it would halt output at its plants in Belgium, Germany, Hungary and Mexico. Volkswagen's vast factories in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in Puebla, Mexico, and plants in Brazil were not affected, but that would depend on how the coronavirus spreads, VW said. Volkswagen has 124 production sites worldwide of which 72 are in Europe, with 28 in Germany alone. "2020 will be a very difficult year. The coronavirus pandemic presents us with unknown operational and financial challenges. At the same time, there are concerns about sustained economic impacts," Diess said. Â Production in China resumes Volkswagen Group sold 10.96 million vehicles last year, putting it ahead of Toyota based on the latest figures from the Japanese carmaker. Globally, VW employs 671,000 people and it delivered 4.86 million vehicles to European customers in 2019. Only last month the car and truck maker based in Wolfsburg, Germany, predicted that vehicle deliveries this year would match 2019 sales and forecast an operating return on sales in the range of 6.5% to 7.5%. "The spread of coronavirus is currently impacting the global economy. It is uncertain how severely or for how long this will also affect the Volkswagen Group.
