Porsche 914-6 Conversion 2.4t With Cis on 2040-cars
Youngsville, North Carolina, United States
After a torrid 12 year love affair, it's time to let the old gal go. Got my eyes on a younger, sleeker model! Purchased in 2002 as a bone stock 2.0 car, and spent the subsequent years (and a good chunk of my kids' potential college money) upgrading to where it is at today. The suspension has been gone through and all new, high end parts replaced all the originals...Tarrett Engineering, CFR, Koni to name a few. The engine conversion was done to a high standard, utilizing a bulkhead engine mount, real 914-6 cooling tin, Vellios oil tank, professionally made wiring harness that plugs into the original harness, and original bell crank throttle assembly. The engine is a bone stock 2.4T with CIS injection that runs strong(ask the turboed Miatas at our local AXs!). The external oil cooler keeps oil temps under control on hot days on track. The interior is in great shape, the original dash has absolutely no cracks or blemishes. It has been used as primarily an autocross car, but has spent a fair amount of time on track (VIR, CMP, Rockingham) and has always been a solid performer. It won its class last month in our local autocross! Its also a fun weekend driver, always turns a lot of heads and gets a lot of comments at the gas station! The car looks great and handles amazingly - one ride and you will understand the meaning of the saying "it handles like a go-kart". Engine: 1973.5 2.4T with CIS. - Pressure fed tensioners -1-1/2” headers – Triad Muffler – Magnacore Wires -Bulkhead Motor Mount – Aftermarket Vellios style oil tank, stock 914-6 filter console and filler neck/dipstick. Mocal external oil cooler
Transmission: Rebuilt by Richard at Blue Sky Motorsports. Flipped 3rd and 5th gears and replaced 4th gear with an S gear to yield A-F-KA-S-Z ratios. Great autocross gearing!!
Brakes: Front- Custom billet hubs that allow the use of a vented rotor from an SC. Rebuilt M Calipers, cooling ducts built into the backing plates. Rear – stock rebuilt calipers(with functioning e-brake), stock rotors, 19 mm master cylinder/ Master Cylinder brace (to firm up pedal feel) Suspension: Rear – factory sway bar, Delrin bushings, Koni SA shocks(yellows) with adjustable coil overs and 200 LB springs. Front- Polyurethane bushings, de-cambered ball joints (allows 0.5 more degrees camber), Tarrett Engineering sway bar, Tarrett engineering Monoball strut mounts (camber plates), 21 MM hollow torsion bars, turbo tie rods, Koni SA shocks(yellows) Interior: Rebuilt pedal cluster, Aluminum pedal covers, dead pedal, fuse box replaced with modern blade type fusebox, “Engman” chassis stiffening kit installed, Cobra racing seats (both are currently fixed in position, driver’s seat mount may require modification for you to fit) 1-1/2” 0.120 wall rollbar., new carpet on floor, dynamat and felt on rear firewall, Momo steering wheel and custom billet spacer, Momo aluminum shift knob, 5 pt. harnesses (out of date for track use), 911 tachometer (for -6) Thanks for looking, there are more pictures available - please request via email. Please ask questions, they will be answered as soon as possible.

Porsche 911 Targa Turbo for Geneva debunked, 919 Hybrid and 911 RSR racers coming instead
Fri, 28 Feb 2014Porsche has proven adept at making sure there is a version of its venerable 911 for practically any wealthy driver's desires. If you just want a great all-rounder then buy a standard 911; open-air driving, then the Cabriolet is for you, and if you need a compromise between them, there is even the new 911 Targa.
Gossip earlier this week surfaced on various websites that at next week's Geneva Motor Show, Porsche had designs on introducing an even higher-performance Targa variant, a Targa Turbo. The rumored mashup would combine the wide body from the 911 Turbo with the super-complicated power roof from the Targa (see right). Assuming no changes in power, that would mean 520 horsepower or even 560 hp in a Targa Turbo S model. Unfortunately, we're hearing that this tasty bit of scuttlebutt is incorrect. Autoblog asked Nick Twork, Porsche North America Product Communications Manager, about the rumor, and his response couldn't have been clearer: "Totally false."
Twork did elaborate that company will be "debuting the Porsche 919 Hybrid, our new LMP1 race car" at the Swiss show, and Stuttgart has also announced this morning that will show its 911 RSR racecar, too - either of which we reckon is a lot more exciting than another Targa variant.
James May's 1984 Porsche 911 is priced to sell at Goodwood
Thu, Jun 18 2015James May needs money. He's out of work, has payments to make on his Ferrari, and has resorted to doing less than stellar work to make ends meet. He and his colleague Richard Hammond sold their motorcycles to raise some extra scratch, and now Captain Slow is selling his Porsche, too. Of course, with years of paychecks form Top Gear and other TV appearances, several books, and a weekly column in The Daily Telegraph, it's unlikely that May is worried about debtor's prison. Mostly because that doesn't exist in the UK anymore, but also because he's probably loaded. The vehicle in question is a 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera, complete with air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six. He became acquainted with the car in 2007 when he borrowed it from specialist Paul Devyea to record a Radio 4 documentary, and evidently fell in love, so he bought it. He even had it on air for a couple of specials for Top Gear and James May's Toy Stories. He loaned it to his dad for a while, but with his time on Top Gear now at an end, he's consigned it to Bonhams (the same house that handled his bike sale) to auction off at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed. Its pre-sale estimate is quoted at GBP28,000-34,000 ($44-53k), which would seem a bit low – especially considering its celebrity provenance and low 55,000 miles on the odometer. Bonhams specialist Sholto Gilbertson tells Autoblog that "the estimate placed on the car has been designed to attract interest and ultimately achieve a stronger price for Mr. May."
