75 914 Beach Boys Wide Body Roadster on 2040-cars
Richmond, Virginia, United States
Im selling a 1975 Porsche wide body roadster that i have been building for the passed few years. The body kit i bealive is called the beach boys kit was on the car when i got it. The car dose not have a roof it has been cut off to make the kit work but i did have a welder reinforce the area of the car in place of the roof support . The 1.7L engine runs good, i ran the numbers on the block but im not sure if im 100% correct on the size. The trans shift good and it has a full after market race exhaust system with a Weber 32/36 carburetor. The front breaks have been up graded to 911 and the back have been drilled to fit the 911 15x7 wheels, the tire are track tires 215/50/15 in the back and 205/50/15 in the front . The intor door panels are new , the seats are in fair condition, and the dash has cracks, i have a new carpet kit for it but i didn't instal it that comes with the car. The paint is spray painted on, i was not sure if some one wanted to repaint it or do more body work to make it look perfect so i did not worry about that too much and the kit is bolted on to the body. The headlight and tail light are working and wired up and mounted. The engine cover and trunk are held on by hood pins but the support brackets have been done correctly by my welder. This is a kit car so by no means it not perfect but it would be a cool looking car to drive around for fun or take to the track .

Porsche 911 GT3 dukes it out with MP4-12C on track and GT-R on spectacular roads
Thu, 22 Aug 2013The Porsche 911 GT3 has always been a favorite among auto journalists and car enthusiasts alike, but with the introduction of the new 991-generation GT3, which is the first GT3 with electric power steering and no manual gearbox option, how does it stack up to the competition from McLaren and Nissan?
Evo's Jethro Bovingdon attempts to answer that question by pitting the rear-engine Porsche against the mid-engine McLaren MP4-12C on a racetrack and the front-engine, all-wheel-drive Nissan GT-R on some amazing, twisty European back roads. We won't give away the victor of either comparison, but we will say that, in Evo's test, the McLaren's 141-horsepower advantage doesn't give it as much of an edge over the Porsche on a racetrack as one might think, and the lack of a manual gearbox and the inclusion of electric power steering on the GT3 isn't detrimental to enjoying the car on a back road.
Watch the video below to find out which car Bovingdon prefers on road and track - we think you'll be happy to see him drift around turns every chance he gets.
Porsche releases new images of LMP1 racecar
Mon, 26 Aug 2013Porsche has released another batch of images of its LMP1 competitor preparing for its debut season in 2014. This isn't the first we've seen of the new car, as June saw four images of the new racer undergoing testing. Where those images looked merely like someone taking pics during the test, the 11 new images seen above have all the hallmarks of highly polished PR shots.
That aside, the camo-covered cars still provide another look at what the new LMP1 car will look like when it arrives next season. The taillights follow the example set by Audi, by vertically mounting ultra-thin LEDs on the tips of the rear wing, while the LED headlights sport the four-prong look that Porsche has been pushing of late. Besides those two items, its difficult to make out many details due to the amount of camo.
Porsche's LMP1 effort will be focused on the FIA World Endurance Championship, which will see the revered brand return to the top flights of the 24 Hours Of Le Mans with F1 ace Mark Webber behind the wheel. As we've mentioned before, the German brand has set up a dedicated microsite that will cover its newest racer's progress.
Porsche 918 Spyder burns to ground in gas station conflagration
Mon, 29 Sep 2014There's one fewer Porsche 918 Spyder zipping along the roads of Toronto, Canada, today. A fire at a gas station over the weekend claimed one of the hybrid supercars in a massive blaze, and a portion of the inferno was caught on video.
According to our partners to the North at Autoblog Canada, the cause of the fire hasn't been officially confirmed yet, but witnesses reportedly claimed gasoline somehow came into contact with the hot exhaust outlets that exit out of the top of the supercar's engine bay. This was just one of two 918s believed to be in the Toronto area.
Other than a possible broken heart from the owner, the fire reportedly caused no injuries, and only the Porsche and gas pump appeared to sustain serious damage. Warning, the video of the conflagration does contain some explicit language.
