1975 Porsche 914 Targa Base Coupe 2-door, 2.0l on 2040-cars
Middletown, California, United States
Original California car with no rust issues. It is very attractive and I have had people actually run after this car wanting to know more about it--I think it's the color and sleek lines that attract. The body is very straight and original engine has been replaced with 912 case, counter balanced crank, aluminum rods, racing pistons, performance cam, solid lifters, dual 40 Webers. Car is built for speed.
Interior is in good condition-classic sport steering wheel has great feel and carpets are new. Corbeau classic bucket sport seats are a beautiful and functional addition to the vehicle. Heat exchangers have been removed for weight and power savings ..The windshield is new, and all glass is tinted. Dash has a few cracks but nothing major. CD player is added. Battery tray has been removed as battery has been relocated to rear trunk for better weight distribution and room in the engine bay. Engine bay, undercarriage and front and rear storage areas are coated with a protective spray (similar to truck bed liner material.) Custom carpet panels and carpeted battery box. Electronic ignition is new, front brakes are upgraded BMW 320i and rear brakes have been rebuilt ( new rotors and pads all around.). Transmission is smooth and all linkage bushings have been replaced. Car comes with one pair of original 911 seats which we replaced with the Corbeau bucket sport seats for a better fit in this car.One 911 seat has a slight tear . The car had several bubbles under the green paint which we tried to eliminate. Unfortunately the paint company sent the wrong color and it is much lighter, and shows in two small spots on each side of the car near the doors. We left it alone, not wanting to do any more harm than we already had. Properly matching the existing color paint would be the fix here. This 914 is capable of great speed and handling if that's your thing. |

Porsche Cayenne diesel V8 may not be long for this world
Fri, Jan 23 2015Goodbye, Porsche Cayenne V8 Diesel. We hardly knew ye. Nor did the Europeans, apparently. Porsche's V8 oil burner is still on the European model list for the Cayenne SUV, but the mill won't go through the likely pricey process of being updated to adhere to new and stricter European emissions standards, Just-Auto says. A Porsche spokesman confirmed to the publication that it's a fairly complicated process to update the diesel V8 to be so-called "Euro-6 compliant." With Cayenne diesels selling in relatively low volumes anyways, the German automaker might just dump the V8 diesel altogether, as it'd be quite cost-ineffective to make the necessary upgrades. The V8 diesel was a 4.1-liter engine that delivered 385 horsepower in addition to what sounds like a little too much exhaust for European clean-air regulators. While that's a pretty powerful profile, the most recent gas-powered V8 for the Cayenne delivers about 570 horsepower, so the diesel engine won't likely be missed by European auto enthusiasts. Besides, there's still the V6 diesel that's also sold in the US. That's a 4,800-pound beast that moves from 0 to 60 miles per hour in about seven seconds and gets a relatively (for diesels) modest 20 miles per gallon city. For those who are curious, Autoblog's First Drive review of that model can be found here.
See what the Chevy C7 ZR1 may be benchmarked against
Tue, 07 May 2013One of the greatest things every Corvette has had going for it, and also one of the most re-used arguments against it, is its price-to-performance equation - long before the Nissan GT-R became the de facto Porsche 911 comparator the Corvette spent decades as Exhibit A. Depending on which side of the argument you stressed, supporters crowed about how much performance you got for how (comparatively) little, detractors carped on how little you got everywhere else in the bargain.
It appears Chevrolet is working as hard as ever to render the argument meaningless. Spy shooters at KGP captured a convocation of European birds of prey leaving the General Motors test center, and aimed at benchmarking the C7 Corvette ZR1. The road train comprised of two C7 Corvette Stingrays, a 2013 Corvette ZR1, McLaren MP4-12C, Ferrari 458 Italia, Audi R8 V10 Spyder and Porsche 911 Carrera S and it was last seen heading down the same kinked-up back roads used to hone the Corvette Stingray.
The C7-series ZR1 and its possible 700 horsepower are still a ways off. If it really is being positioned to compete with the celestial exotica in the testing group, could it be the first Corvette to regularly be the first answer to the question "Cost no object, which would would you rather have?"
Watch a Cayenne Turbo S, Range Rover SVR, and Cherokee SRT drag race
Thu, Mar 17 2016We live in a weird world where high-performance SUVs could win a 60-mile-per-hour sprint against sports cars from just a few years ago. Here, Top Gear sets up a three-way drag race against the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR, and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, and the results show just how quickly these high-riding models can cross the quarter mile. The Cherokee SRT is the patriotic choice among the three, but it's down on power in this fight. Meanwhile, the Range Rover's menacing growl sounds the best, and the Cayenne Turbo S has the most horsepower. You'll have to watch the video to see which SUV will win this battle. Related Video:
