Rare car in this condition. As you are more than aware these 914's were driven hard for many years and for the most part thrashed. So to find one in this excellent condition is very rare. The car was painted fire engine red before I owned her and paint is still very shiny and clean. The targa top and sides were also painted all vinyl has been removed. I have owned her for over 21 years and when purchased in 1993 had dual carbs on it. Of course California has smog issues, so by 1997 the carbs had to go and the motor had a lot of miles on it. I was told rather than start trying to fix the issues, it was much better to just replace the entire motor with a factory fuel injection 2.0 motor. This motor was done by someone still in business and well respected in the porsche community George Vellios in Gardena CA. Motor is very strong and now has approx 1800 miles on the new motor. When the motor was done, so was the ball socket @ transmission. Then new tires front and back, and all front end parts, bushings, shocks, brakes and the exhaust system complete from motor to catalytic converter and chrome pipe.

Car has been one of many cars in my stable. I have owned and still own 6 cars, corvettes, muscle cars and several classics. This car was NEVER raced, or driven fast or hard, because I have always had faster muscle cars, so this car was truly admired and babied.

2000-2007 car mostly sat in the garage at my home or at my warehouse at my office. The car had been driven monthly to car shows or to the beach, to keep it nimble. 2007 I had knee surgery and from that point on it was much more difficult to drive the stick. 2007 I ran out of room in California for cars, so I trailered it to my home in Lake Havasu, AZ, summer home to be stored in the garage right next to the boat. Occasionally I would drive it to car shows in Lake Havasu or just local cruises when the weather was cooler.

Of course like any car that sits around, when you start to drive it, being almost 40 years old, it started to need things and because I am not a mechanic and have never worked on the car myself, I had to find a trusted Porsche mechanic in Lake Havasu, so I started asking around. I found well respected and well known Porsche mechanic Matt Adragna, who has been working on Porsches FOR EVER and rarely didnt have a Porsche or two in the garage at his home that he was working on for his friends too. 4/2010 - took to Matts shop, where he did a complete oil change, tune up with cap, rotor, wires, points condenser kit, new plugs, adjusted valves, replaced rocker cover gaskets, set timing, replaced fuel lines for cross over., vacuum lines, fuel hoses, throttle position switch, ECU from reputable company called BRAG. He renewed all grounds and made it run right.

12/2013 - Car needed to get more work done on it and found Mark Tuttle, who has been working on Porsches for over 40 years. He took the car and really went through it. Actually while doing the work, he had several offers on the car to buy it, but nobody came up to bat with a true real price to get it. Mark rebushed the pedal clusters, replaced the clutch cable and had a "special" sheath put over the cable to prevent the cable from rubbing and shearing the cable. A reputable guy named Gerhardt (not sure of spelling) came from northern California on the way to visit family in Arizona, stopped on christmas break to install the sheath. New fuel pump was replaced, as well as the throttle body, oil cooler gaskets and cold start injector. A new battery was added as well. Hell holes were punch tested, and I have a lot of pictures I can send of the inside of the car, seats, dash, trunk, under the car, engine areas etc.

Car is now ready for someone to come enjoy it.

All parts are on it. Cars needs very little, but to make it a #1 car this is what is needed that I am aware of.
Targa rubber seal that is on top of windshield and rubber around windows.
It does have 1 spot of rust just starting to appear under windshield trim, directly under the wiper blade
Will need a stitch on 1 small spot on the drivers seat, 1 small spot on the passenger door.

This is by far one of the nicest 914 2.0 cars I have ever seen, including the ones I have seen at Barrett Jackson or Meccum auctions going for BIG BUCKS.

Hagerty rates #2 car $19,000 - $20,000.

Supercar parade entering highway is mesmerizing

Thu, 09 May 2013

In what must have looked and sounded to motorists on the M6 like an invasion of The Swarm, a parade of 50 enthusiast gems leaving a charity event were caught shooting down the on-ramp and merging into traffic. There were plenty of Porsches joining the 959 and Ducktail above, Aston Martins going back to the badboy V8 of the last millennium, a Ferrari Testarossa, a TVR and numerous other Easter eggs.
There were not, however, plenty of turn signals, with someone counting just five among the fifty engaging in proper use of the blinker. One reason put forth for that is the same reason we're posting this video, which is from last Summer, below: "because supercar." Enjoy.

Guess which brand's not on a top 10 list of best EVs (hint: it's Tesla)

Thu, Jun 22 2023

Few surprises lurk in Autotrader’s list of its 10 best electric vehicles of 2023, but there is one that stands out: no Teslas. There's Hyundais and Kias, Porsches and Fords, a BMW and a Nissan. But Â… no Teslas. Although many of us admit to being over-Musked and tired of reading about him, the lack of a Tesla model on a selection of the 10 most desirable current EVs is conspicuous by its absence. Asked about this particular omission, we received this rather vague response from Autotrader spokesperson Brenna Buehler at Cox Automotive: “Tesla models were included in consideration but didnÂ’t get sufficiently high scores by the Editorial team to qualify for the top 10.” At least some Tesla offerings appeared to meet all the requirements set by the website. The manufacturers must offer 2023 model year vehicles, and they have to be sold in at least 15 states. Check. Only pure EVs were allowed on the list; there are no hybrids, plug-in hybrids or hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles. Check. The base manufacturer's suggested retail price must be less than $100,000. Check. Let the debates begin. Moving on, it should be noted that two Genesis models, a G80 sedan and GV 60 SUV, are listed, along with a Lucid Air midsize sedan, the Rivian R1T pickup, and the Porsche Taycan. Here is the full list, with the remarks and comments from Autotrader's raters. (And we've included links to Autoblog's own reviews for a deeper dive). The EVs are listed in alphabetical order by brand, so don't read anything into the order of presentation: 2023 BMW i4 BMW reboots its EV approach and comes up with a winner: Whatever you thought of BMW's first run at EV, the i3, it was missing a certain something – it didn't look or perform like a BMW. The 2023 BMW i4 corrects course with a Gran Coupe that our editors agree looks and drives like a BMW. 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning Ford's electric pickup gathers steam in its second year: The F-150 Lightning somehow synthesized decades of pickup truck knowledge with the latest and greatest EV technology and infused thoughtful details and user-friendly features. 2023 Genesis Electrified G80South Korea's luxury brand shows how to elevate the executive EV sedan without breaking the bank: Genesis, Hyundai's luxury offshoot, rethought the gasoline-powered luxury sedan, the G80, and developed the 2023 Genesis Electrified G80. Precisely as the name hints, the Electrified G80 replaces the G80's engine with an all-wheel-drive EV powertrain.

Petrolicious details why the Porsche 911 is something special

Thu, 26 Sep 2013

The Porsche 911 is a special car, if for no other reasons than it's been continuously produced since 1964, with nearly every generation regarded as being at or near the top of its class. But why the rear-engined icon has done so well among enthusiasts and regular drivers alike can't always be explained easily. To truly understand the 911, you have to experience the whole package, and that means driving one.
While just about every publication has raved about the Porsche, commercial director, race driver, photographer and 911 owner Jeff Zwart explains to Petrolicious why he was drawn to the legend as a young child, and why he still loves them today.
Zwart's professional and personal life are inextricably linked to the 911, and hearing him talk about the car and its history makes for fascinating viewing. Watch the video below to hear Zwart's story and see him drive a couple examples from his collection: an early 911 and the 964-generation Carrera 4 he won Pikes Peak with for the first time - a car that happens to be equipped with the 959 Paris-Dakar's fascinating torque-split transmission. Enjoy!
