1974 Porsche 914 Base 1.8l on 2040-cars
Renton, Washington, United States
This is a 1974 Porsche with a 1.7 engine.
The engine has recently been re-built, mildly warmed over breathing through dual Dell's. It runs and shifts quite smoothly The engine has ~9,100 miles since the rebuild; enough to know it was done properly but not nearly enough to be ready for another rebuild. Unlike most folks on CL, I can truly say those are mostly highway miles. In the past year I have driven this car up Pikes Peak, down to Oklahoma, to Ohio, then out to Washington; with a few other trips in between. The 914 has been perfectly reliable through all of this. If you're looking for a reliable car that you can hop in tomorrow and go to Florida, this is it. Included with the car is a logbook with every fill-up, oil change, maintenance item, etc.. Since the first start-up of the rebuilt engine. This is an Oklahoma car, no rust. The paint is presentable, but it's not a show car either. As would be expected to make a car this old extremely reliable, it's had a lot of new parts put on it. Essentially every important piece of rubber has been replaced. All parts installed in 9100 miles, most of them in the past year. Some of the ones I remember: -New tires, still look really nice. -New BMW 320i front calipers -Rebuilt Rear calipers -New Tranny input seal -New 1st gear syncro -New rear wheel bearings -New Clutch disc And many more things I can't think of right now. Needs: Flashing light that comes on with parking brake no longer works. Wipers don't work. Please give me a call with any questions: 405-714-8703 |

Meet Buster, this 1968 Porsche racecar transporter from Mercedes
Thu, Dec 11 2014If you're thinking about Porsche and Mercedes-Benz when it comes to motorsports, your first thought is probably on the two German brands battling on the track. However, for decades, whenever Porsche's factory team went to compete, a custom Mercedes was right along with them hauling the racecars. These days the truck lives in the Brumos Collection in Jacksonville, FL, and goes by the nickname Buster. However, its story goes back to 1968 when Porsche ordered two commercial vehicles from Mercedes and then handed them over to a Stuttgart-based outfitter for customization. The results were these racing transporters that hauled models like the 917 and 956 until the '80s. The other survived, too, with a place in Porsche's collection. Well-known racers in their own right, Brumos scooped up the transporter in 2003 and have kept driving it to vintage racing events. The interior now boasts the signatures of many of the great drivers from the era of this historic truck. Watch the video for the whole story on the Mercedes with a whole lot of Porsche inside.
40+ cars that barely avoid the gas guzzler tax
Thu, 24 Jul 2014
The Gas Guzzler schedule, with mpg ratings and charges that haven't changed since 1991, lays out which fuel-swillers owe what to Uncle Sam.
I started thinking about the "Gas Guzzler Tax" - considerably less well known as The Energy Tax Act of 1978 - when I was driving Dodge's new Challenger SRT Hellcat last week. Unsurprisingly for a car that can burn 1.5 gallons of gas per minute at max tilt, theoretically able to empty a full tank of premium in about 13 minutes, the Hellcat will be subject to the Gas Guzzler Tax schedule when it goes on sale.
Top Gear's latest trailer shows off a golden Bugatti Chiron
Thu, Feb 23 2017Top Gear is returning on March 5, and after a lackluster first series with the new hosts, the new group seems determined not to hit a sophomore slump. Chris Evans is gone, and the latest teaser trailer shows the new trio of Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris, and Rory Reid strapped into some pretty fantastic cars, including the Bugatti Chiron and the Ford GT. All of the typical Top Gear segments appear to be present, though the quick cuts don't give us many details. The trailer shows a copious amount of powerslides from an assortment of cars, and even Chris Harris racing around Daytona. Aside from the Bugatti and Ford, cars from Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, BMW, Aston Martin, and Alfa Romeo are all present. Co-hosts Eddie Jordan and Sabine Schmitz don't appear at all, so it seems their roles may be downplayed to focus on three guys, as was the case pre-reboot. We have some hope for this re-relaunched show and will be keeping an eye out for more details in the lead-up to the series premiere.
