This is a FUN car to drive!!! . I purchased this car 2 years ago from a friend in the local Porsche Club. He was living in Southern California and found this rust free 914 in the 1990s. His neighbor owned the original Renegade Hybrids Company so the car was converted to a chevrolet small block V8 in the 1996-97 time frame using a proven Renegade kit. The goals of the project were to have a reliable car, good performance, and no overheating problems.
The 914 body is all original. It is very solid. The car was repainted and looks very good. The targa top is painted black. The Interior is in very good condition. The original seats are in good shape. There are a few cracks in the dash board. It has an aftermarket sport steering wheel.
Drivetrain - The Porsche 901 gearbox works great. Starting out in 2nd gear is recommended to avoid "over torquing" 1st gear. These 901 transmissions are reliable up to 325 hp if not abused. A KEP - Kennedy Engineering Products Clutch and Pressure plate adapt the transmission to the engine. The Chevrolet engine was built specifically for the 914. Using a 305 block to reduce torque (and therefore save the transmission) , the engine uses a higher duration cam, and ported stock heads to achieve around 280-300 horsepower. This is a great combination for low maintenance and performance. It really moves!!!
The car is nice, fun to drive, starts, stops and puts a smile on your face.

Le Mans-winning Porsche 935 K3 'seized' by DEA agents
Thu, 16 Jan 2014Porsche has won Le Mans more than any other marque, but only one of those overall race winners was actually based on a 911. That was the 1979 Porsche 935 K3, chassis number 009 00015 that was entered by brothers Don and Bill Whittington. It went on to win at the Nürburgring and Watkins Glen, and scored podium finishes at Sebring and Brands Hatch as well. In short, it's a historically significant and hugely valuable piece of motorsport history. And it was just seized by the DEA. Sorta.
After the Whittington brothers ran afoul of a handful of lawsuits and were implicated in smuggling narcotics, the car changed hands a few times before ending up in the noted collection of one Bruce Meyers. He had it at Laguna Seca earlier this month when a black Suburban, Dodge Charger and transporter truck pulled up with government plates, asked to speak with Meyer, presented him with a court order, loaded the car onto the truck and drove off.
Though familiar with the legal disputes surrounding the ownership of the car and the misdeeds of its famous original owners, Meyer was left understandably distraught over the events that had just unfolded in front of him to separate him from his pride and joy. (Or one of them, anyway; Bruce has got an eminently desirable collection of classic cars.) But here's the kicker: those DEA agents weren't actual DEA agents. Fortunately they weren't thieves, either. The actual story could have been the plot right out of Ocean's 14 if they ever made one and it focused on classic cars. (Is anyone in Hollywood listening?)
Porsche inspecting 2,500 Euro-spec Macans for damaged brake boosters
Thu, 29 May 2014Porsche is investigating a potential brake issue with 2,500 of its new Macan CUVs. The inspection focuses on the state of the brake systems following tests that discovered the brake boosters may have been damaged during assembly.
Porsche has pointed out that, despite the concern, the affected Macans still meet safety regulations. The issue is predominantly found in European-spec Macans, which according to Porsche, have been delivered to consumers. Owners of affected vehicles in Europe will be notified and asked to come in for a brief, no-cost inspection.
American consumers, though, have no reason to worry. We reached out to Porsche Cars North America, who confirmed that the vehicles in question were assembled before US-spec cars were screwed together.
Porsche recalls new 911 models over exhaust pipe issues
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Porsche, though the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, announced a voluntary recall on about 2,200 911 Carrera and Carrera 4 models built during the 2012 and 2013 model years. On cars equipped with the standard exhaust system it was found that the tailpipes could separate from the mufflers and become dangerous road debris; models that added the optional sport exhaust system are not included in this recall.
Affected vehicles were built between March and November of last year, but there have been no reports of the problem on any customer-owned vehicles. Porsche first noticed a cracked tailpipe weld on a test vehicle back in May, and since then has found similar problems on other internally owned vehicles, all with more than 25,000 miles on the clock. To fix the problem, dealers will be replacing the mufflers. Scroll down to read the official notice.
