NICE 914-6 conversion.  2.2 liter 911 motor with 5 speed.  I bought it  from a guy who had it for 10 years.  He advertised it as "totally rust free" and it was very nice-BUT- the belly pan was in need of replacement.  I had a complete new pan welded in at the factory seam-with original weld points.  It is now rust free- no "hell hole" issues- completely dry and clean.  Carbon Fiber Trim and body panels look great.  Paint is ok- but not concours. Interior is very nice with yellow accents and black and yellow cocoa mats.  Yellow rain hats on carbs with a 916 style vented engine cover- all in all a very cool 914 for track or street. Car is currently shod with polished Fuchs with 205/15 tires on all corners.  The fender lips were rolled- but there is very little clearance without maximum (track type) camber.  tires are new on rears and very nearly new on front.  Also have a set of 185/14 s on Fuchs if you want a more street tire friendly set up.

I have 3 other Porsches and this is not getting much use.  If you ever wanted a 914-6 this is a good one.  I have a nearly perfect stock 914 2.0 which is a blast to drive but not as "hot" as the 2.2.  No disappointments in the quality of the conversion- 911 5 lug rotors and a 911 SC front suspension upgrade with integral roll bar.  Long time PCA member with plenty of experience with many different models.  This is a very sound sporty 42 year old Porsche.  My best description is "go cart on steroids"

Check out the undercarriage pictures- call me at 304-639-5907 if you need details or to make shipping arrangements.  I have my own car hauler and can work with you or your carrier on shipping .  Mileage is undetermined- eBay needs a number entered- but I have no idea what the real mileage is after 42 years.

Porsche 918 Spyder roars electric through London

Sun, Jun 29 2014

The Porsche 918 Spyder can be an object of lust for anyone who appreciates the finer things in the automotive world, but for us greenies with penchant for speed, the car is an icon. This gorgeous, all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid offers 887 horsepower and 940 pound-feet of torque, can do 0-60 in just 2.5 seconds and is capable of 214 miles per hour. It lapped the Nurburgring in a record 6:57. Still, it is capable of near-silent, relaxed cruising through one of Europe's busiest cities. In a new video from Porsche, chief driving instructor Gordon Robertson takes the 918 to London and does just that. While driving in E-Power mode, he describes some of the things that make the car special, as well as how the technology has developed through the 911 GT3 R Hybrid and the 919 LMP1 car to eventually be passed onto the Panamera S E-Hybrid. If you're interested, you can learn more about the car in our own drive review, here. It's great to see, for the first time, the 918 Spyder driving alongside London's black cabs and double-decker buses. The rubbernecking from pedestrians is noticeable and completely understandable. I'm sure we'd all love to see this car come silently sneaking down our own city streets, but until Porsche makes that happen, you'll just have to enjoy the video below. Porsche Cayman GT4 spotted at the N?rburgring

Tue, 13 May 2014

It was just the other day that we first caught wind of Porsche's plans to build a GT4 version of the Cayman, and now we're already looking at spy shots of the vehicle in question undergoing testing at - where else? - the Nürburgring.
With more aggressive front-end aero, a GT3-style air vent ahead of the front hood, a large wing at the back, and spindly alloys packed with over-sized brakes at each corner, this Cayman is clearly more extreme than even the range-topping GTS. The rear diffuser and central exhaust tips look about the same as those you'd find at the back of the Cayman GTS, though.
What we can't see, of course, is what Porsche has slotted in under the rear glass, how it's upgraded the interior and how much weight it's stripped out of the thing to get it down to fighting weight, but you can bet it'll come with a substantial power bump and a stripped-out interior with racing buckets and little else to open the gap between it and the GTS... and close the gap to the 911 GT3 which it will join as the baby brother in Porsche's performance-focused lineup. Click above to view the double-batch of spy shots.

Porsche rules out Macan, 911 hybrids

Fri, 24 Oct 2014

Believe it or not, between the 918 Spyder, the Cayenne and the Panamera, Porsche offers more plug-in hybrid models than any other brand. Yes, Porsche. But don't expect that trend to continue. At least, not in the immediate future.
According to Top Gear, the E-Hybrid powertrain in the Cayenne and Panamera is too big to fit into the smaller Macan. A future hybrid system could be small enough to fit, but with the current technology still fresh, that'd still be some ways down the twisting road.
It stands to reason, then, that if the system wouldn't fit in the Macan, it wouldn't fit in the Boxster or Cayman, either. But what of the 911? Surely Porsche would like to stick it to BMW and its new i8, and proved it could do a hybrid 911 when it rolled the GT3 R Hybrid (pictured) out onto the race track over four years ago. But Zuffenhausen is reportedly in no rush to put that idea into production - not for the current 911 and not for the next one, either.
