1971 Porsche 914-6 Vintage Race Car

It is not a "real" 914-6 but it was built in the early to mid 1970's as a conversion race car
1971 911e 2.2 Mechanically Injected Six
5 lug Conversion with Upgraded 911 style brakes
Clear California Title
BBS 2 Piece wheels
Engine does run, but the fuel tank is a corroded and we did not want to run long like that. The tank needs to be boiled out and clean along with the fuel system to be cleaned up, and most likely a valve adjustment.  But mechanically the engine is good.
Schnell racing seats
Racemark Thick steering wheel
Wild!! 70's race car paint job.  The paint and body definately have some flaws but the paint is still shiny, and doesnt look to bad for being a 40 year old race car.
There is a little bit of rust in the passenger side "hell hole" area but it's not real major (see pics)
The car is licensed for the street use as it has a vin # and clear title and all lights are still intact (but may need work), It is street legal

The car was purchased in the Bay area by a friend of my Dad in about 1977 and the car was in its current state,  he drove it for a few years and then stored it up until about 7-8 years ago when I purchased the car from him and have done little to it since other then get it running and cleaned it up a bit.  I just don't have the time for the project as I have many other cars that I'm currently building.  Nothing has been changed physically on the car since it was built in the 1970's so it is definately a time capsule.

2015 Porsche Macan S

Thu, 31 Jul 2014

I'd be willing to bet that 99 percent of all Porsche Macan owners will never take their vehicle on a track or see any more off-roading than a dirt path to a summer cottage, yet I maintain that there is no better venue to explore the absolute outer limits of the automaker's newest small family transport than on a racing circuit and an off-road course. It's testing at each extreme of the vehicle's operating envelope, with both challenges requiring very different capabilities. With that in mind, and looking forward to dirty floor mats and corded tires, I jumped at the opportunity from Porsche to wring out its new Macan S at Willow Springs International Raceway, located in Southern California's high desert.
The range-topping Macan Turbo (base price $72,300 plus $995 destination), with its 400 horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V6 gets most of the glory these days. But many, including myself, would argue that its slightly less powerful sibling, the Macan S, is actually the pick of the new litter. Despite having 60 fewer horses under the hood and giving up six-tenths of a second in the sprint to 60 miles per hour, it costs a massive $22,400 less - money better spent on equipment that improves the crossover's ride comfort and capability, or perhaps a well-used Boxster for weekends.
Despite a reasonably attractive starting price of $49,900 (plus destination), very few Porsche buyers will leave the showroom with a base model. My Dark Blue Metallic Macan S tester was equipped with a slew of mechanical upgrades, including air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), Sport Chrono Package and 21-inch 911 Turbo Design wheels. A Premium Package and a few other miscellaneous options bloated its price to $69,870. That's a very steep price for the premium compact crossover segment, but it's still less than a base Macan Turbo.

Porsche 911 GT3 dukes it out with MP4-12C on track and GT-R on spectacular roads

Thu, 22 Aug 2013

The Porsche 911 GT3 has always been a favorite among auto journalists and car enthusiasts alike, but with the introduction of the new 991-generation GT3, which is the first GT3 with electric power steering and no manual gearbox option, how does it stack up to the competition from McLaren and Nissan?
Evo's Jethro Bovingdon attempts to answer that question by pitting the rear-engine Porsche against the mid-engine McLaren MP4-12C on a racetrack and the front-engine, all-wheel-drive Nissan GT-R on some amazing, twisty European back roads. We won't give away the victor of either comparison, but we will say that, in Evo's test, the McLaren's 141-horsepower advantage doesn't give it as much of an edge over the Porsche on a racetrack as one might think, and the lack of a manual gearbox and the inclusion of electric power steering on the GT3 isn't detrimental to enjoying the car on a back road.
Watch the video below to find out which car Bovingdon prefers on road and track - we think you'll be happy to see him drift around turns every chance he gets.

Porsche CEO Oliver Blume will be installed as head of the VW brand

Wed, Jun 3 2020

Volkswagen Chief Executive Herbert Diess is planning to promote Porsche CEO Oliver Blume to take over as the head of the VW brand, according to a report from Auto Motor und Sport. Citing company sources, the German site said Bernhard Maier, who currently sits at the head of VW's Skoda brand, will lead Porsche in Blume's place. A shuffle at VW isn't surprising. The last thing Volkswagen needs as it transitions away from its long-running "clean diesel" TDI fiasco and into a clean electric ID future is negative press surrounding its burgeoning electrified lineup. Unfortunately, the ID.3 launch has been marred by software issues, with Manager magazine citing company engineers saying "the basic architecture was developed too hastily." Because of that underlying issue, various modules "often do not understand each other" and suffer dropouts. The brand-new eighth-generation Golf launch was also troubled and pushed back due to software problems. And more recently, Volkswagen was forced to pull an advertisement after admitting it was racist and insulting. That marketing misstep, according to the report, will lead to the firing of Chief Marketing Officer Jochen Sengpiehl. Related Video:
