You are bidding on a very original '73 914 1.7  that was recently brought out of long term storage. At that time, some new 205/65 Bridgestone Potenza tires were installed on the original 5.5 inch steel wheels. All wheels are dated 10/72, 12/72 and 1/73. Build date on car is 3/73 so it's highly likely they are in fact
original to the car. A new battery was also installed at this time.


Car has 88K miles since new. While I have no supporting documents to verify this mileage, the overall condition of the car coupled with the pristine original interior with uncracked dash obviously substantiates the mileage. Plus the elderly original owner confirmed the mileage to be correct.

This is a VERY straight accident and rust free example of one of the best handling models that Porsche ever built!  It has had one repaint in it's Original "Signal Orange" which is a very desirable color in the Porsche community. Factory panel fit, doors fit and close nicely. Targa top is in very nice shape still with factory
Perlon material glued on the inside.

Still has the factory D-Jetronic fuel injection and engine starts right up and runs smoothly. 5 speed trans shifts smoothly up and down through all the gears. All the guages, lights, wipers, horn and radio work. Original Porsche key works in the ignition, both doors and the glove box lock.

Before driving daily again, the car should have a major service performed on it. I would at a minimum recommend a brake flush, oil change and valve adjustment.
 
The license plate does not go with the sale of the car.

Porsche is continuing celebrations for the fiftieth anniversary of its iconic 911. In its latest video, it's gone to Taiwan, to interview some of the folks that have grown passionate about the rear-engined sportscar over the years.

There's no secret that we are big fans of the MotorWeek Retro Review series around here. In an automotive world that often focuses on the latest tech and what's coming in the future, it's refreshing to take a look into the past to get a new perspective. That said, the show is really outdoing itself this time by posting a full episode from the '80s to YouTube, complete with the original, jazzy opening. The video is an absolute standout, too, with drives of some of the best supercars that Europe could offer at the time. Among the now classic sportscars that MotorWeek got to drive are the Ferrari 328, Lotus Esprit Turbo, Lamborghini Jalpa and Autokraft AC Mark IV. There's even a preview that sings the praises of the tech in the Porsche 959. Porsche 919 Hybrid revives Porsche's factory Le Mans efforts

After months of teasing with camouflaged testers, Porsche has finally unveiled its prototype entry for the 2014 World Endurance Championship, the 919 Hybrid. Porsche, you may recall, hasn't had campaigned a factory team at Le Mans in years, so the 919 is nothing less than their recommitment to endurance racing.
Combining a 2.0-liter V4 (yes, a V4) that revs to 9,000 rpm, the 919 produces around 500 horsepower with a pair of energy recovery systems. The first system recovers the heat energy from exhaust gasses as they pass through an electrical generator, while the second system is a bit more familiar. Using a setup similar to what is found on the production 918 Spyder, a generator on the front axle recovers kinetic energy from the brakes, which is subsequently stored in a battery system. That power can then be sent to the front wheels at the driver's command, effectively turning the 919 into an all-wheel-drive racecar.
Despite these various forms of motivation, Porsche doesn't claim to be seeking outright power supremacy, with Chairman Matthias Müller saying, "In 2014, it will not be the fastest car that wins the World Endurance Championship series and the 24 hours of Le Mans, rather it will be the car that goes the furthest with a defined amount of energy. And it is precisely this challenge that carmakers must overcome. The 919 Hybrid is our fastest mobile research laboratory and the most complex race car that Porsche has ever built."
