Up for sale is my restored California 1967 Porsche 912 This car is in excellent condition with original interior. I have 3 classics from the 60’s and sadly have to sell one of them to help fund a real estate venture. Details: I purchased this car a year ago when it had a bit under 121, 200 miles – have put a bit over 2,600 miles on it since – it is a blast to drive. The previous owner:
Since purchasing the car, I have:
Those are the highlights. I have all receipts for my work and the previous owner’s work. I have been told that the engine and body are matching numbers. Car was also re-painted Polo Red a few years ago – correctly with all glass pulled out - and shows very well with even shine. Car has all new window and door seals. The body has no rust and is straight. Interior is the original and for it’s age in excellent shape – has signs of wear, but no tear or cracks anywhere – a nice patina. Car was garage kept for over 30 years before I bought it and I continue to garage it. In short, this is a fantastic example of a 1967 Porsche 912. It drives firm, fires up from cold every time, and with the little extra CC, has a nice engine growl and extra pop in the pedal. Have driven it mostly on the weekends, around town or up the coast and it works great as a city or vacation car. I am sad to give it up, but of my three classics, this is the least rare. I hope it finds a good home with an owner who will continue to care for and enjoy it. I was even able to find an original ad from the original dealer here in SoCal – it’s framed and comes with the sale. This car comes with a reasonable reserve for a car in its condition. I’m located in Los Angeles if you want to come by and look at the car. E-mail me at litzewen@gmail.com if you have any questions. I will be advertising this car through other sources so I reserve the right to end the auction if someone makes me an acceptable offer. Thank you and good luck! |

Porsche 960 could come with quad-turbo flat-eight engine
Thu, 24 Jan 2013Getting a bead on the target that is the so-called Porsche 960 is not easy, as the target keeps moving. First labeled the 960, then the 961, and now back to being called the 960, it is Porsche's take on a supercar specifically aimed at Ferrari - the latest report in Automobile says that Porsche's internal moniker for it is "FeFi," which stands for "Ferrari Fighter." Because it is expected to cost as much as the top-tier V12 Ferrari, Porsche wants the engine solution to justify the price tag. That means, according to author Georg Kacher, a 3.9-liter, quad-turbo flat-eight engine with 650 horsepower.
Last summer, the engine was mooted to be a twin-turbo flat six. A few months later, the rumor was that it would use the 4.6-liter V8 from the 918 and have about 570 horsepower. This new mid-engine configuration would be quite the leap, giving the 960 more power than the 918 Spyder (pictured) and 911 GT2 RS, and utilize other tech features like four adjustable camshafts and "a complex multistage intake manifold." In this scenario, power would be run through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive.
Build materials are still slated to be a hodgepodge of materials including aluminum, steel, carbon fiber, titanium and magnesium. The boosted flat-eight, all-wheel drive and a 3,000-pound weight could get the 960 from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 2.5 seconds. Since it is looking squarely at Ferrari, the idea that the 960 will be a "four-door coupe" can probably be put to rest. For now.

Magnus Walker and Alex Ross stop by Leno's garage with their 997 GT2
Mon, Feb 9 2015The market is littered with Porsche 911 tuners, with names like 9ff, Gemballa and TechArt leading the field. Seldom do any two ever collaborate on a joint project, but that's just the kind of match that was made at Jay Leno's Garage. That's where Alex Ross of SharkWerks and restomodder Magnus Walker first met, sparking a collaboration that yielded the car you see here. And fittingly, they've brought it back to the garage to show off what resulted. Though Walker usually deals with older Elfens, this time he applied his eye for style on a more contemporary 2008 997 GT2, decking it out with grey stripes, orange bumpers, gold wheels and decals and a tartan-upholstered interior. He left the mechanical bits to Ross and company, who dropped the suspension and increased output to 650 horsepower at the wheels (775 at the crank), surpassing the stock GT2 and even the later GT2 RS. The result is pretty hard-core and old-school, but you'll want to watch the video above to see for yourself.
