1976 Porsche 912e (time capsule edition)
This is a very rare one-owner car with 158k miles. 99% original, including a circa 1975 “FuzzBuster” radar detector, Porsche designs driving glasses and driving gloves.
Car has a very rare color combo of Talbot Yellow (code 106) with red leather interior – only 10 of these were made!

I have never seen another Porsche with this color. The owner also special ordered this car with  rare and expensive “Sport Seats”. They have been redone at some point and need to be recovered back to factory leather.

This is a nice driver quality 912e that has been looked after. I purchased it from the 85 year old original owner who gave up driving it many years ago. It has been parked in his garage with a cover on it for a couple of decades. He or a family member started and regularly drove the car every month. He kept its registration and insurance current (I have all the documents going back 25 + years)

This 912e was a daily driver from April of 1976 to around 1984. In that time the owner put approx 80k miles on the car. The car was then regulated to backup car and then 3rd car. I bought the car in a three car package and need to liquidate these two.

The car is in driver quality shape. Many nicks and chips in the paint and the seats need to be redone.

No dings or dents but the car could use a repaint.

Car starts, runs and rides well for its age. Floors are perfect and is under the hood (no rust)

Clean Nevada title in hand (you will be the second registered owner)

As a nice bonus he passed onto me a few nice period accoutrements:
1. Original window sticker!
2. Owner’s manual
3. Manual for the original radio
4. All reg. cards for many, many years
5. Jack and un-used spare tire
6. 1975 circa “FuzzBuster” radar detector
7. Porsche designs driving glasses
8. Circa 1980’s driving gloves

It’s an original, nice running 912 that will continue to increase in value in this crazy market with a very unique and rare color combo.

eGarage video features Helmuth Bott's personal Porsche 959 prototype

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

"We thought we were going to build a super-911," said Peter Schutz, former CEO of Porsche AG of the development of the Porsche 959. That was before it started getting expensive. At that point, Helmuth Bott, Porsche R&D director got frightened. Costs ballooned because of the all-wheel drive, sequential turbocharging and other technology Porsche had never even thought about when it set out to build a 911 to compete in Group B. Schutz continued, "The amount of resources we were committing got totally out of hand." Instead of pulling the plug, Bott doubled down and drew on the strength of his brilliant team to build a car whose impact is still echoing aross the industry.
"It's probably one of our most prized possessions" says Don Leatherwood, Director of the Brumos collection where Dr. Bott's personal prototype resides, and where Frazer Spowart went to see the car and create a video for eGarage. Check out the sights and sounds of the 959 before it was the 959, and get personal takes on the car from Hurley Haywood, Peter Schutz and Don Leatherwood. Keep reading to see the video.

Amelia Island 2013: Porsche 911 swarms the field marking 50 years of rear-engine goodness

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Perhaps one of the most iconic sports cars in the world, it was no surprise that the Porsche 911 showed up in numbers to the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance. Although the original 911 launched 50 years ago, the original and current models are instantly recognizable as 911s, and since the 911 has a storied racing background, there were probably just as many racing versions of the coupe as there were street-legal versions.
As the show's 2013 honoree, one of the prime racing examples was a 1970 Porsche 911 S raced by Sam Posey. There were so many cars in attendance, we didn't know where to look, but a 1985 911 Speedster concept and a Porsche-owned, rally-ready 911 Type 953 were definitely among the more impressive standouts. As an added bonus, Jacksonville-based Brumos Porsche had many of its classic racecars on display including a beautiful 959.

Production Porsche 918 Spyder images leak out of Chinese patent office

Wed, 26 Dec 2012

A few images of what looks to be the production Porsche 918 Spyder are here to say hello, courtesy of a patent office in China. If these provide an accurate look at what the hybrid supercar will look like, there are a few differences between it and the latest examples of the pre-production prototypes our spy shooters have seen.
The jerry-rigged turn signals inside the headlight enclosures and on the front fenders on the prototype are replaced with more polished units inside the headlamps located underneath the main beams. Behind that, the door handles have been swapped from horizontal latches on the door to vertical openings located just behind the door shutline.
We've also seen a Martini-liveried version of the 918 Spyder that has extra carbon elements that don't appear on this car. It was at the Nürburgring with carbon lips on the front fenders and another carbon element that hung from the rear fenders and ran down to the rear diffuser. When we saw the car on our Deep Dive piece, the front lips were gone but that rear piece remained, and we can't tell from the brochure and options sheet that we've seen so far what it comes with. The wheels from the concept and the green brake calipers, minus the polycarbonate covers, should be the standard fitment while the ten-spoke magnesium wheels will be a 29,750-euro (about $39,000 US) option.
