I am re-listing this car. The person who selected the buy it now option last Sunday never contacted me or provided any deposit even after I wrote him.
I have owned this car for 30 years. During all the years I used this car it took me during the week to work, got me countless dates on the weekends and transported me on many vacations trips all over California, Arizona and Nevada. It never let me down. It is the most fun to drive car I have owned. The car has always been stored in a garage in California since I have owned it. I am retiring, need space in my garage and it is now time for someone else to enjoy it. This is a 1969 912, the most desirable model year. It is distinguished from the other 912's because it was the last year they made these and has the longer wheel base, flared rear fenders and more modern interior.
This car was my daily driver form 1983-2001. After that it sat in my garage. Every couple of weeks I would start it up and drive it around the block until about 3 years ago. The battery is now dead, the brakes frozen and the carburetor needs to be cleaned in order to start it. I semi restored the car in 1985. All the trim was removed, the bumpers dismantled and the car painted by Bob's Paint and Body in Orange, California. Bobs was featured in a Porsche magazine centerfold (not my car) and that is why I had him do the work. The color was changed from Orange to Guards Red (027) I had a fiber glass "S" style bumper installed. I also have the original steel bumper with the trim (see picture). In the late 1990s I had the engine completely rebuilt by Cooper Automotive in Huntington Beach California. Cooper was the most respected 912 mechanic in the United States. The wheels are reproduction Fuchs. The ones on one side are a different brand than the other. They are slightly oversized for the car. I had the inside lip of the fenders bent upward to keep the tires from hitting the fenders when I went over large bumps. While backing out of a parking space another car was also backing out in reverse and we did not see each other and "touched" bumpers. The rear bumpers need to be bent up a little bit. The driver side door pocket is out. I have a replacement one (see pictures). Both door locking mechanisms need adjustment as well as the drivers side window regulator. The plastic piece that retains the passenger door handle has a small crack. There is a small stress crack on the inside of the drivers door you may want to repair. There is one small rust spot on the front inside of the trunk (front of car). The drivers seat naugahyde has a tear. The dash has a crack. You can see it in the picture. The car is available for your inspection by you or your mechanic in Redondo Beach, California. The white stuff on the hood is pieces of my acoustic garage ceiling that have fallen down.
These cars (particularly 1969 912) are very rare and rapidly appreciating in value. Here is your chance to get one and restore it the way you want to. To often these cars are restored incorrectly, sold at a premium and the new owner either has to live with it or pay to have it restored again properly, essentially paying for the car twice. Due to the age of the car, it is exempt from smog certification in California.
This vehicle is sold where is, as is. I have the California Ownership Certificate (Pink Slip).

World's largest toy car collection is in Beirut, and it's remarkable
Fri, Jan 31 2014It's common for auto enthusiasts to have a few miniatures of their favorite cars around their home or office. They provide a respite of happiness knowing that if you can't have the real things, at least you can look at them in miniature. However, Billy Karam of Beirut, Lebanon, has taken collecting toy cars to its extreme. His collection of over 30,000 model cars and 400 dioramas is certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's largest collection of car toys. "You cannot buy the big ones, so you buy a thousand of the small ones instead," says Karam in the video. Karam is a former amateur racing driver with a weakness for all things Porsche, and many of his dioramas depict races that he drove in or attended. Looking at them gives him a chance to relive the experiences again, but unlike a photo or video, they are right there in three dimensions. Scroll down to watch this astounding Cool Hunting video narrated by the collection's captivating owner. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. All the crazy stuff we saw at McCall's Motorworks Revival
Thu, Aug 18 2016Every year, Gordon McCall puts on a lavish event packed with rare cars and planes (and the type of people that can afford rare cars and planes). And every year, more ridiculous stuff shows up. It's the good kind of machine overload. It's likely the only place in the world where you'll see a line of BMW 3.0s next to some Paganis next to a Porsche 911 by Singer Design next to a Ferrari salt racer next to a custom Olds Riviera next to the latest from Koenigsegg next to he coolest stuff Shelby ever made next to a hangar filled with McLarens, including a few P1 GTRs. And then all of that is surrounded by private jets, fighters, and planes that could have flown in directly from WWII. In a word, it's insane. Walk through the gallery above to get a taste for what was there this year for the event's 25th anniversary.
