1969 Porsche 912 on 2040-cars

Engine and transmission are original. Engine Serial # is 40959086.
As the 911 market rises to stratospheric levels, these 912 models will be the next to jump. Get in early on the 912 market and enjoy the classic 911 lines with a peppy engine and even better handling. The lower and more central mass of the engine on the 912 makes it a more eager companion on twisting back roads, while still providing all of the classic thrills of vintage Porsche ownership.
This 912 has a beautiful interior with leather-lined microsuede seats. It also has the highly-desirable five-gauge dash configuration found on the 911, rather than the three-gauge setup on many 912s. The carpet is in great shape (with NO rust underneath) and the dash has no cracking or pealing. All of the dash lighting works, as well as the exterior lights.
At some point, according to the previous owner, the 912 has been repainted in it's original color - Ossi blue. In person, it is incredible to behold: deep and rich in tone, while absorbing and reflecting the natural colors around it. Pictures can't do it justice!
The engine is a 1600cc flat four-cylinder with Weber Carbs. When I bought the car, it was running slightly rough, but a trip to my local aircooled Porsche specialist fixed that! I would honestly say the engine is the high point for the car. Everything has been gone through in meticulous detail to make this a strong-running and RELIABLE 912. It may take a few seconds to crank over in the cold, but it ALWAYS starts and has never left me stranded in a parking lot over the time I've owned it. After its most recent trip to the mechanic earlier this year, the car hasn't leaked a single drop of oil. Most aircooled cars will lose a few drops a day, but for some reason I got lucky with this one.
On that first tune-up visit in June of last year, the car had the following installed:
-Correct "031" Distributor
-Pertronix Ignitor
-Distributor Cap-
-Rotor
-Spark Plug Wire Set
-Rebuilt mechanical fuel pump
-Spark Plugs
-Fuel Pump Spacer
-New Belts
-32mm Venturis
-Emulsion Tubes

Porsche Macan to debut at LA Auto Show
Wed, 29 May 2013Auto Express reports Porsche will unveil the upcoming Macan SUV at this year's LA Auto Show. Citing an unnamed "insider," AE says that the five-door will bow with engines, suspension and interior architecture that will help differentiate it from its Audi Q5 chassis mate. Big shocker there. We've been hearing the same line since we first caught word of the Macan back when it was still rolling around under the Cajun name. The report does shed some light on the model's pricing, however. That same insider says the Porsche Macan will carry a price tag of 36,000 pounds.
What does that mean for American buyers? Do some quick math based on current conversion rates, and average UK and US prices, and we come up with a sticker of roughly $42,000 here in the land of the free. That fits in line with the rest of the company's stable, with the larger Cayenne starting at $49,600.
Still, we'll wait for more concrete word before jumping behind the AE report wholeheartedly. The 2013 LA Auto Show gets going in late November.
Chevy Corvette Z06, Ford F-150 Raptor join Lego Speed Champs
Tue, Oct 20 2015Get ready to park some performance machines on your desk: Lego's 2016 line of Speed Champions kits will add seven new vehicles for next year, according to an update to the database Brickset. These include some serious muscle like a Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and Ford Mustang GT. There's also a listing called "Chevrolet Camaro Drag Race" and a very cool combo titled "Ford F-150 Raptor Ford/Model A Hot Rod". Fans of European performance don't need to be jealous, though. The database shows a kit called "Porsche 919 Hybrid and 917K Pit-Lane." Plus for fans of the Four Rings, the Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro and R8 LMS Ultra are also getting their own Lego models. Fourtitude appears to have some leaked shots, if you want to see what these kits will look like. Lego has partnered with Porsche, McLaren, and Ferrari and offers Speed Champions kits for vehicles like the Porsche 918 Spyder, McLaren P1, Ferrari 458 Italia GT2, and LaFerrari. The models in the series aren't as heavily detailed as the massive Mini Cooper or Volkswagen Bus sets, but they make up for that in value. The individual cars retail for a fairly affordable $14.99. The Formula One playset tops the current range at $99.99, but it comes with a truck, racecar and team figures.
Jay Leno plugs himself into Porsche's 918 Spyder
Mon, 24 Mar 2014As one of the greatest sports car manufacturers of all time, when Porsche puts out a new, ultra-exclusive hypercar, enthusiasts tend to stand up and take note. Jay Leno is no exception, and now, the funnyman is finally getting his time with awesome 918 Spyder.
With his 1963 Porsche 356 and his 2005 Carrera GT flanking a Liquid Silver 918, Leno takes us through the basics of this plug-in hybrid roadster alongside Daniel Eastman of Porsche North America. Following the chat, Leno and Eastman take the German-plated car through the streets of California, testing it in a number of modes and even going on a short, all-electric freeway cruise.
If you're looking to learn more about the 918, or to just here its glorious gas engine at work, you'll want to scroll down and take a look at the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage.
