1968 Porsche 912 Pastel Blue Coupe Rare & Beautiful on 2040-cars
Denver, Colorado, United States
Unique opportunity to complete your own Porsche restoration. All of the hard work is done: disassembly, rust mitigation, body work and paint work. The suspension has been repainted, new bushings installed, hardware re-plated and installed. The balance of the project will be reassembly. Almost every part has been rebuilt, refurbished or purchased new. I have all receipts for parts purchased and for the rebuilding or refurbishing of various systems. For a pictorial narrative of our project please Google "Lunde Porsche Project".
Below is a list of work to date: Body - Entire body stripped to bare metal by top-tier Porsche restoration shop here in Denver. Front steering pan and battery box replaced with original Porsche stampings. Additionally, both floor pans replaced by drilling out over 200 spot welds and re-installing Porsche floor pans. Body was stripped to bare metal and finished to a very high level. Paint is original Pastel Blue as ordered from the factory. Engine - Original engine disassembled and carefully packed in container. Needs complete rebuild. A recently rebuilt 1969 912 motor is included with the purchase. The 1969 motor has been inspected and verified as in excellent running condition by a factory trained Porsche mechanic. Report included with purchase. Transmission - Original 4-speed is included with purchase but internal condition unknown. A recently rebuilt 1967 5-speed is included with the purchase. This transmission was sourced here in Denver from a local PCA member who had the unit professionally rebuilt prior to selling it to me. Brakes - All four calipers have been rebuilt and painted. Rotors are near new and within spec. Braided stainless steel hoses are included. Wheel & Tires - 6j x 15" Fuchs wheels in excellent, mildly refurbished condition are included. Gas Tank - Original gas tank shows no leaks but needs to be flushed and sealed. Windshield & Other Glass - Purchaser will need to source a new windshield. Side windows, quarter glass and rear glass are in very good condition. Interior Vinyl - Headliner has been replaced with original German vinyl by well known interior restoration shop. The balance of the interior parts, upper and lower dash, headliner, parcel shelf, rear seats, door panels, rear side panels are either in excellent original condition or have been refurbished (in German vinyl) by interior restoration shop with the exception of the seats. The original vinyl seats need complete restoration but an outstanding pair of full leather 1973 911 seats are included with the purchase. Instrumentation - All instruments, tach, speedo and multi-gauge, have been rebuilt by a VDO specialist. The clock was cleaned but is not operable. Miscellaneous - Original hard-to-find parts are present or have been sourced, such as the original break-away rear view mirror and rear quarter window latches. Nearly every rubber, seal, grommet, gasket, decal, etc. has been recently purchased. Two new Durrant mirrors, a new Hirchmann antenna, new drive axles, windshield washer motor and related check valves and hoses are included. Porsche offering short-term loans to Macan waitlisters
Wed, 02 Jul 2014Walk into a Porsche dealer today, place an order for a Macan and you'll be looking at a waiting period of six months or more before you can expect delivery. That may be common enough for high-end European automakers, but the Macan is meant to lure new buyers to the brand, and the waitlist could be enough to deter them from sticking around.
The solution? Offer to lease them a Boxster or Cayman until their new Macan arrives. Shorter in term that the usual new-car lease, these six-month terms are designed to keep buyers from turning their backs, all the while experiencing the kind of vehicle Porsche does best.
Of course it doesn't hurt that the dealer then gets a used sports car to sell again once the short-term lease is up. And we wouldn't be surprised to see some buyers asking to hold on to their mid-engined sports car for a little longer, either.
Recharge Wrap-up: Porsche 911 hybrid possible, Ecocruise EVs coming soon
Thu, Oct 9 2014The next-generation Porsche 911 could use hybrid power, according to Porsche CEO Matthias Muller. "There is no reason against it and we will see if we have some reasons to do it," Muller says of the model due around 2018. He also suggests that hybrid technology could eventually make its way into all Porsche model lines, but that the Boxster and Cayman would first get four-cylinder versions. Muller cites carbon emissions and "sportiness" as reasons to use hybrid power, pointing to the 918 Spyder as a good example of both. Read more at Car Advice. A B-Class F-Cell from the Mercedes-Benz fleet has hit a benchmark of 300,000 kilometers (about 186,411 miles) in everyday use. The achievement won Daimler an "f-cell award" for hydrogen fuel cell technology and innovation. The 300+ fuel cell cars in the Daimler fleet have driven a collective 9 million-plus kilometers (more than 5.5 million miles). The information gathered from this testing is being used to improve development as the company looks toward expanding commercialization of fuel cell cars. "We have clearly demonstrated that the fuel cell electric drive is ready for the road," says Professor Herbert Kohler of Daimler. "The last hurdles we will overcome in intensive cross-industry and cross-border teamwork." Read more in the press release below. A company called Ecocruise has new EVs coming out soon. Along with electric scooters and service vehicles, Ecocruise develops street-legal neighborhood electric vehicles like the three-wheeled EZip-3, the four-wheeled EZip-4, and the fun looking Cruser Sport (see a prototype in the video below). The EVs are scheduled to go on sale in January of 2015, which is right around the corner. Ecocruise was started after the founder of Kasea Motorsports decided to switch to electric vehicles with the goal of offering providing affordable emissions-free driving. Learn more about Ecocruise and its vehicles at the company's website. The new EU Fuel Quality Directive (FQD) does little to discourage dirty fuels like tar sands and coal-to-liquid, says Transport & Environment (T&E). The FQD requires suppliers to reduce greenhouse gas intensity for transport fuel in the EU by six percent by 2020. The much-delayed FQD doesn't do as much as it could, though, say critics, and it doesn't label dirtier fuel sources as such despite the urging of scientists. T&E, an organization focused on cleaning up EU transport, blames Canada, the US and Big Oil.
There's a Porsche Cayman under here somewhere
Wed, 15 Jan 2014What we have here is the work of Dubai tuner Royal Customs that is controversial even beyond its styling. The Middle East aftermarket house says it spent fourteen months developing a bodykit for the Porsche Cayman, and the results seem to be aimed at those who wish their coupe were a 918 Spyder - the nose, strake-filled and widened rear fender, carbon fiber wing and massive diffuser all cribbing some from Stuttgart's new hybrid supercar.
Even without a buyer, the Alpha One Concept is already controversial. When WorldCarFans posted on the Royal Customs car recently, German tuner Alpha-N Performance wrote in alleging that the Dubai package copies their design from two years ago, which was also called the Alpha One, a design with which it's clear the Dubai Alpha One shares numerous cues. We asked Royal Customs about its relationship to the Alpha One car, we were told, "Yes, there is a lot we can say about the remarkable similarities all of which will be explained by our press release by Mr. Emil from Autogespot. Please wait for the official release and you will have the full exciting story. It's an 'actual success story' and not a 'replication' story."
The response is referring to an "extensive report" on the car coming out of Autogespot. Royal Customs doesn't have the Alpha One Concept on its site yet, so we're still missing quite a few details on it, such as whether the Porsche engine has been given a similarly 918-ish workover. We do know that the company says each car takes 30 days to build and it will only build three of them, which is a number that should satisfy any haters and, even more so, its buyers. You can decide which side of the fence you're on by having a close look at it in the gallery above.
