Offering my 1968 Porsche 912 coupe, a very presentable driver. The car has recent Weber carbs, bosch premium starter and generator, new battery and electric fuel pump. Also has electronic distributor (the original goes with the car). The exhaust is an Ansi and sounds nice.  All the electrics work, but the clock is wacky .The car drives very well-a few caveats- the first gear synchro is shot, so you have to be stopped to downshift to 1st. The car can pull from a crawl in 2nd with no problem. Brakes and steering are good, tires are 75% Kumhos. The e brake is not functional, as one cable is broken. I am trying to get one and should have it fixed. The car leaks a bit (as is pretty common) but not horribly.

The car looks awesome from 20 feet, but there are numerous flaws in the paint and trim. Still , for a 45 year old car, it is very sharp. The interior is very good with 1 tiny cracked area (1 1/2 ") in the driver seat bolster. The rest of the seats and headrests are very good. The only rust I have found is in the front pan, and it was repaired by a previous owner and appears sound. It should be attended to at some point, but it drives fine as is, The part is about $300. The area of the floor under the pedals looks crusty from below, but is structurally sound, shows no weakness. the rest of the pans appear to be very solid. I believe the pans are original. Also the edge of the windshield is fogged ( about 2" )
I will answer any questions I can about the car as honestly as possible, however buyers are encouraged to inspect before bidding. The car is sold with no warantee and is sold AS IS. It is a 45 year old  car .
   Thanks for looking,

2015 Porsche Boxster GTS [w/video]

Thu, 22 May 2014

You know the sound: the startling pop-brraaap-pop-pop shotgun fire of unspent flammables coursing through exhaust pipes that usually signals a raw, naughty powerplant beneath the hood.
But when you're nestled in the Porsche Boxster GTS' snug seats, it's not a crackling small block V8 or a high-strung Italian flat crank making the devilish racket, but rather the new king of the Boxster/Cayman lineup, a 3.4-liter flat-six that produces 330 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque.
Within the emotional vacuum of a spec sheet, the Boxster GTS' pumped-up grunt seems pretty mild, with a gain of only 15 hp and 7 lb-ft, respectively. But the reworked acoustical experience goes a long way towards suggesting the GTS has a trace of racing blood in its veins, and might even be missing its catalytic converters. In addition to the sonorous, centrally positioned tailpipes, the cabin also fills with lovely mechanical strains thanks to the "Sound Symposer" acoustical amplifier that's trickled down into the Boxster/Cayman lineup from the 911 for the first time. Boxster S, we hardly knew ya.

Porsche 911 already testing next refresh

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

The latest Porsche 911 may still be a newer car, but that hasn't stopped the German company from starting development of a facelifted version of the rear-engined sports car, testing in what looks like southern Europe.
Due to hit the market in 2015, our spies think what we're seeing here is the new GTS variant, which, following the evolution of the last-generation 911, will make its debut on the facelifted car. Featuring the wider rear haunches of the all-wheel-drive Carrera 4, the GTS should enjoy a slight power boost, to 408 ponies.
Aesthetically, there are some additional vents in the rear bodywork, along with a revised front bumper and tweaked day-time running lights. The taillights get some attention as well, and will likely grow over the current car's skinny rear lamps.

KBB 2013 Brand Image Awards has some obvious and oddball winners

Sat, 30 Mar 2013

The sixth edition of the Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Awards have crowned a wide range of winners - in a couple of cases the recipient of the laurels might say more about KBB users than they do about the actual winner. Compiled from the responses of more than 12,000 shoppers on KBB.com over the past year, there are 13 categories broken into non-luxury, luxury and truck segments "representing the combined wisdom of the American car-buying public."
The award categories have been revamped this year, with some dropping off, some new ones appearing and at least one other given a new term. What isn't surprising is that Honda won Most Trusted Brand for the second year running, Best Value Brand for the third year in a row and took Best Overall Brand, which wasn't on last year's list of awards.
On our own shores, in the non-luxury categories Chrysler got Most Refined Brand and Buick took Best Value Luxury Brand. Neither one of those marques won anything in last year's Brand Image Awards, while Cadillac, which won Best Interior Design Brand and Best Comfort Brand last year - those awards disappeared this year - went home without a single accolade.
