This is a three owner car that retains all of its documented service records back to April 1966. The first owner (Mrs. Geiger) purchased the car from Trans-Ocean in Pasadena in March of 1966. She drove the car (daily, or so it seems) until 1993 when her son sold the car to the second owner (Mr. Garcia). Mr. Garcia had a hip replaced 6 years ago and the car sat in the California (LA) region for a number of years. He told me shifting was difficult. I purchased the car in the summer of 2011 and had it shipped to the east coast (Washington DC).
I have every piece of documented work through all ownership (more than 200 receipts dating back to 1966). As stated, the car comes with it's original black plates, books, nearly complete tool kit, jack, and original leather key pouch and the original porsche stamped keys for ignition/doors and glove box.
To give you an idea of the neat history, here is a little story pieced together from the paperwork. In the late 60's, the rear of the car "bottomed out" and put a small crack in the engine case. The dealer replaced it with an unstamped case keeping all original internal and ancillary items. I have the notarized insurance claim from Mrs. Geiger and the dealership documenting this... quite cool.

Ok, so that is all the great stuff, and here is the other side of the coin. All of this is provided for full disclosure. I do not want anyone to bid on this car and not be satisfied with what they receive, so please read this part VERY closely and please ask questions. I will answer reasonable requests and questions to the best and most honest way possible.
The engine starts and runs and drives without issue. It has plenty power and with proper service will be fine for a very long time. However, the motor is 40+ years old and will eventually need more than a full service and valve adjustment. I do not think this engine is a risk. If it were me, I would just use it and drive it.
Unless you are planning to use this car the way I intended, you may want to repaint the car. The paint (some of which is original!!) isn't perfect at all. The best thing about this car's exterior is the (for lack of a better word) patina/condition. Moreover, the door jambs have never been sprayed, so all of the original paint is correct around all of the openings if you'd ever want to do a respray. There are also dings and things, but no dents of any magnitude.
Rust. There is very little rust and what does exist is minor. The sills, jambs, floors quarters, and suspension areas are extremely solid. The passenger floor pan has two small holes from the horse hair mats that were still in the car (all floor sound deadening was removed and replaced to preserve it). The right front fender has some at the bottom, but that fender has never been off of the car. Overall, it's solid and could use some preserving at the same time. Most of the rustiness you see in the close up pictures is surface in nature. The car is extremely solid in all of the important places (pans and suspension, rockers, jambs).
The interior is not perfect, but it's very original and very clean. You may want to replace the headliner and re-stuff the seats if those sorts of details bother you.
Final Disclosures and my attempt at salesmanship
The Porsche wood wheel in the interior picture does NOT come with the car. The car's original ebonite wheel is reinstalled.

A 1985 Ford Escort for $915,000? If it was owned by Princess Diana
Sun, Sep 3 2023What makes a used car worth more than the car itself? If it was owned by John Lennon. Or Muhammad Ali. Michael Schumacher, perhaps, or Stirling Moss. This year’s edition from the Hagerty organization of its “Power List” makes for amusing reading even if youÂ’re not on it. But you can make believe that you are. Essentially, the list, which was launched only last year, tracks the impact of celebrity ownership of a vehicle on its value, as measured by its worth at auction. Nearly 400 sales of celebrity cars and bikes have been analyzed from around the world by Hagerty using market data and “expert” analytics. Hagerty is aware, certainly, that famous folks — from royalty, sports, movies and music — grab gobs of attention from ordinary people. ThatÂ’s why the 2023 Power List comprises these categories: Art Cars, Racing Drivers, Movies and TV, Musicians, Royalty, Screen Stars, Sporting Icons. But you don't have to be a rock star or a F1 pilot to get listed: Princess Diana, besides an Escort Turbo RS that she owned between 1985 and 1988, numbered a convertible 1994 Audi 80 Cabriolet and a Jaguar XJS Cabriolet among her rides. HereÂ’s a look at some of the more notable entries: Racing driver category: In pole position was an unlikely titleholder, a 1976 Ford Bronco. This was the car bought new by legendary Canadian Formula 1 driver Gilles Villeneuve and untouched since his death; it sold at the Aguttes auction in Paris last December for $148,000, a huge 210% increase over the $47,800 that Hagerty would value a regular example in the same condition. Just a note: The list doesnÂ’t include race cars, only vehicles kept privately by the drivers. Musicians: A 1974 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow had been Freddie MercuryÂ’s personal chauffeur-driven transport from 1979 until his death in 1991. Without celebrity ownership, Hagerty would value the Silver Shadow at a lowly $9,500, a car that would take a lot of time, effort and money to restore properly. But add in MercuryÂ’s aura and bids ended at $362,500. “ItÂ’s no surprise that MercuryÂ’s car dominated our Musicians list on the 2023 Hagerty Power List,” the company said. Movies and TV: For those readers now emerging from hibernation since 1968, the news is that the historic Highland Green Mustang from “Bullitt” remains at the top of the Power List for the second year running.
Gemballa reveals new Porsche 991-based GT convertible
Sun, 16 Sep 2012Gemballa went through the ringer last year, but rebounded with products that signal a complete turnaround. The latest is the recently-released Porsche 911 Carrera S with a Gemballa GT aerodynamics and technology package. Aero-wise, it includes carbon fiber additions beginning with a front bumper wearing the classic Gemballa air intake design and a lower, angrier splitter. New side skirts run from wheel to wheel, the final piece being a rear bumper in three sculpted horizontal sections featuring a rear diffuser tucked between six rectangular exhaust tips.
No engine mods have been made, but the technology part of the tune - springs that are 30 millimeters shorter yet still able to work with the PASM system - is claimed to make the car faster. Bringing things to a halt is a new Brembo brake system hiding behind 21-inch GForged wheels that are lighter than Porsche's standard 20-inchers.
The Gemballa GT aero kit runs €19,860 ($26,070 U.S.), which includes paint and installation if you happen to be in Germany, and we're assuming that includes the suspension modification, brakes and sport exhaust. The GForged wheels are another €9,895 ($12,989 U.S.) depending on your choice of tire. Check out the press release below for more info, and the photo gallery above for all the angles.
Porsche tops JD Power APEAL study for 12th time
Wed, Jul 27 2016JD Power's 2016 Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) study hasn't changed much this time around with Porsche coming in at No.1 for the 12th consecutive year, while BMW was close behind in second. Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz tied for third with Land Rover, Lexus, and Lincoln tied for No.5. The APEAL Study, according to JD Power, measures owners' level of excitement and emotional attachment across 77 parameters. Brands and cars are rated on a 1,000-point scale. The study found that new cars with modern safety features including low speed collision avoidance and blind spot monitoring have higher APEAL scores than vehicles without the features. The overall industry score increased from 798 to 801, which JD Power claims was helped by the launch of a variety of new vehicles. This year, 22 out of 30 new or redesigned cars received a higher score than the vehicle's respective segment average. Porsche is once again at the top of the list as the automaker's score increased by three points to 877. BMW outscored Jaguar to take second place with a score of 859, while the British automaker dropped three points from last year with 852 points. Volkswagen overtook Mini to become the top-ranked non-premium brand with 809 points, while the latter automaker trailed behind by one point. At the end of the scale, Smart came in at the very bottom for the second year in a row with a score of 745 points, which represents an increase of 62 points over last year. Fiat's score increased by six points to 755, but still confined the automaker to second-to-worst place for a consecutive year. Mitsubishi's score increased to 770, up from 755, to become the fourth-worst brand, while Jeep fell to third-worst with a decrease in seven points to 756. General Motors received six segment-level awards, followed by Hyundai with five, and BMW and VW earning four apiece. Surprise segment victories include the Chevrolet Camaro, which outscored the Dodge Challenger, and the Lexus RC which ranked above the BMW 4 and 3 Series. For more information on how the automakers ranked, check out the official release on the 2016 APEAL Study below or visit JD Power's website to analyze the graphs.
