This 912 Porsche was an early model with several distinguishing features found on the early cars. It has the early flat closure panel for the engine deck lid and a 5 speed transmission as standard equipment.  The four speed transmission was not yet available. It was ordered with 5 gauges and was completed September 6th,1965. Upon entering the United States, it was titled as a 1966 model year.

This is a Porsche/Reutter bodied car.  It likely remained in Europe initially as it retains the European heater system. The transmission is the original per the C.O.A. and the engine was replaced at some point by a rebuilt engine #740625.The Solex carbs were replaced with Webers. The original color was Sand Beige with a Beige interior. It is presently silver with a black interior. The car is in excellent mechanical condition and accelerates briskly and holds its own in city traffic and on the highway. The front shocks are new and the rears were replaced 3 or 4 years old and are in like new condition. I have owned the car for over 2 years and driven it regularly in good weather. The front pan was replaced some time in the past and there is a bubble in the paint at the rear of the right front fender. The floor pan is original and seems to be in good condition. I had planned to restore the car back to its original configuration but its becoming obvious that it is not going to happen. I have included a picture of the C.O.A. which shows the car was equipped with Chrome Wheels, Clock, Outside Temperature Gauge, Signal Key (no, I do not know what that is), Antenna and Wood Steering Wheel. When I purchased the car it did not have a wood wheel. It presently has a new Nardi Wood Steering Wheel. I have since purchased a correct Porsche Wood Steering Wheel which was restored by Bruce Crawford. I will make it available to the buyer for an additional cost if desired. This car can be used as a daily driver but it would also be a good car to restore. The buyer is responsible for shipping.

Please contact me with any questions before bidding. The car is available for inspection by appointment. This car is advertised elsewhere. I reserve the right to close this auction if it is sold. The reserve price will not be divulged.

Porsche forum claims eco-friendly 911 Blu coming to Frankfurt

Thu, 01 Aug 2013

The fiftieth anniversary of the Porsche 911 has been a nearly year-long affair, with unique tributes and even a special anniversary edition with plenty of retro throwbacks. The party is expected to continue through the end of 2013, and if one 911 enthusiast forum is right, we'll see yet another special edition model near the anniversary of the original car's September 1963 debut, when it arrives at next month's Frankfurt Auto Show.
It's called the 911 Blu, and where the 911 50 Years Edition was more expensive than a 911 Carrera S hardtop, the Blu would be an entry level special edition. That's right, a limited run car that actually slots in at the very bottom of the 911 range. According to Porsche forum 911UK.com, the new car would be priced at 74,600 euros ($98,718 at today's rates) or 64,750 pounds. That undercuts the price of a base 911 in Germany by nearly 16,000 euros and in the UK by nearly 8700 pounds (although to be fair, it's roughly identical to the price of a base 911 C2S in the US).
This 911 will reportedly feature a detuned flat-six with 300 horsepower and 211 pound-feet of torque.

Evo makes the case for the world's best driving road in Majorca

Tue, 05 Aug 2014

What good is a sports car if you haven't got a great place to drive it? It's a common refrain that we've heard time and time again. But few are as familiar with the problem as they are in the UK, where the number of people, cars on the road and traffic cameras keep growing to conspire against the joy of driving. Leave it to Evo, then, to depart in search of the greatest driving road in the world.
It's a pursuit that's taken the British car mag across Europe, most recently to Romania's Carpathian Mountains where it added the Transalpina Pass to its short list. But its latest journey has taken Evo to the Spanish island of Majorca, where Henry Catchpole found not one, but two spectacular driving roads from behind the wheel of the new Porsche Boxster GTS. We could drone on about the smooth, empty ribbons of twisting tarmac with excellent visibility and panoramic vistas... but you really want to see the video for yourself. Don't miss Evo's previous trip to Romania in the Jaguar F-Type, which we've included below, as well.

Sunday Drive: A tale of old favorites and upcoming challengers

Sun, Oct 8 2017

Sedans and crossovers dominated the attention of our readers last week, led by the completely redesigned 2018 Honda Accord. It's the Japanese automaker's flagship, and people are seriously interested in finding out how good the latest Accord is. So interested, in fact, that no other single story came close to the brand-new Accord in Autoblog reader interest. Moving down the list we find the equally new 2018 Buick Enclave. The three-row crossover has a lot to offer a family, especially one looking for a nice, quiet ride. If you're looking for the exact opposite of nice and quiet, but still want enough room for you and your significant others, the Subaru WRX that we tested last week may be the perfect ride for you. Or, if you just want to drive fast and aren't at all worried about space, there's the Camaro SS. See? We offer something for everybody. From there, we look to the future. Who isn't interested in seeing the first fully electric vehicle from Porsche? And who isn't intrigued to see the Mission E testing alongside a gaggle of Teslas? A brand-new Jeep is always a big deal, especially when it's the revival of a classic nameplate like the Grand Wagoneer. And finally, we have something completely different: the Rezvani Tank. As always, tune in to Autoblog next week for a front-row seat to all the happenings worth following in the automotive industry. 2018 Honda Accord First Drive | Feels like home again 2018 Buick Enclave First Drive Review | Fortress of quietude 2018 Subaru WRX Drivers' Notes | Turbo traditionalist 2018 Chevy Camaro SS Drivers' Notes | Demonstrative power, middling interior Porsche Mission E caught testing against Teslas Jeep three-row SUV caught on public roads — Grand Wagoneer, perhaps?
