Porsche 911 Coupe on 2040-cars
Minden, Nevada, United States
Very, very clean 2003 Porsche 996TT / 911 Turbo. The car has 82,450 miles, but you wouldn't know it by looking at it. These cars are not prone to the same IMS bearing issues as the non-turbo Carrera cars of the same generation and the boxer motor is known to run for many miles. Everything is current service-wise for the 90K level including: full coolant flush, brake fluid flush, both differentials serviced, transfer case serviced, oil changed, cabin air filter, new window regulators, new right front CV boots. All service work has been completed since November 2014 by Midtown Autoworks in Sacramento. I have only owned the car since November, and I have found that the seats are just not comfortable for me. I had all of the recommended work done after my PPI from them. The only thing I have been watching is the transfer case? as I see one drop of oil occasionally from that area. I do have the hard to find (read "almost impossible!") gaskets for the case and the transmission to case seal that I will include with the car.The car has the following factory options: Tiptronic Trans, full leather interior, alcantara headliner, sunroof, heated seats, HID headlights, Porsche headrest crestsAftermarket extras: Techart full exhaust ($3,500), plug in GIAC Flashloader with stock/mid/race settings ($600), Kinesis 19" staggered wheels with satin black centers and gloss rim ($6,000), brand new Continental DWS all-season tires with warranty from Discount Tire ($1,500-Front tires are 235/35 ZR 19 and rears are 295/30 ZR 19), full professional audio system with amp/subs under rear deck/Kenwood DNX8120 touchscreen head unit/XM radio/Bluetooth ($5,000), fixed GT2 style rear wing painted to match ($2,000)-these cars are known to have problems with the factory retractable wing, so this was replaced by the previous owner. This car is very fast, produces around 500hp with the extras that are installed. Sits lower than stock, about 1.5" lower. Windows are tinted also. Runs as a Turbo should and currently has no issues. I welcome a PPI. I have the stock exhaust and rear deck lid/wing, Porsche custom fit car cover included.

700 horsepower Porsche GT2 RS is the wildest 911 ever
Fri, Jun 30 2017The Porsche 911 comes in a variety of flavors, each filling a certain taste for a certain customer. Sitting atop the range is the new 911 GT2 RS. In previous generations, the GT2 had a bit of a reputation as a widowmaker, a 911 with massive power that could snap and bite with the slightest agitation. Porsche says the new model has been civilized, but with 700 horsepower going to the rear wheels, we're sure it's going to be as mad as ever. Power comes from a highly massaged version of the 3.8-liter flat-six from the 911 Turbo S. The rear-mounted engine makes an outrageous 700 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. Like we previously reported, the new car will use water injection to help keep things cool. The only transmission is Porsche's PDK. While enthusiasts may lament the loss of the manual, the RS models have always been about performance above all else. Simply put, the PDK is the better performance option. All that power translates to a 0-60 mph time of 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 211 mph. The engine makes 80 more horsepower than the previous model. That makes it the most powerful road-going 911 ever built. In fact, the 887 horsepower 918 Spyder is the only road-going Porsche that makes more power. The fact that Porsche trusts all of that power to go to the rear is both thrilling and terrifying at the same time. In order to manage traction, the GT2 RS gets a number of upgrades. Rear-wheel steering has become commonplace in the 911 lineup, so it's no surprise to see it here. Sticky tires with 265/35 ZR 20 section rubber at the front and 325/30 ZR 21 section rubber at the rear keep things planted. That comically large rear wing adds downforce, adding to stability. The car gets standard carbon ceramic brakes. While some people prefer traditional rotors for the street, like the PDK, this is all about performance. A number of intakes and outlets complement the rear wing and maximize aerodynamic efficiency. It's a bit of a surprise that with all the focus on downforce, the GT2 RS still manages to top out at 211 mph. The hood, front wings, wheel housing vents, door mirrors, side air intakes, parts of the rear end, and a number of interior components are all made from carbon fiber. The roof has been made of magnesium. If you want to drop any pretense of civility and comfort in the pursuit of speed, Porsche is offering a Weissach package that shaves off another 40 pounds from the already impressive wet weight of 3,241.
Production Porsche 918 Spyder images leak out of Chinese patent office
Wed, 26 Dec 2012A few images of what looks to be the production Porsche 918 Spyder are here to say hello, courtesy of a patent office in China. If these provide an accurate look at what the hybrid supercar will look like, there are a few differences between it and the latest examples of the pre-production prototypes our spy shooters have seen.
The jerry-rigged turn signals inside the headlight enclosures and on the front fenders on the prototype are replaced with more polished units inside the headlamps located underneath the main beams. Behind that, the door handles have been swapped from horizontal latches on the door to vertical openings located just behind the door shutline.
We've also seen a Martini-liveried version of the 918 Spyder that has extra carbon elements that don't appear on this car. It was at the Nürburgring with carbon lips on the front fenders and another carbon element that hung from the rear fenders and ran down to the rear diffuser. When we saw the car on our Deep Dive piece, the front lips were gone but that rear piece remained, and we can't tell from the brochure and options sheet that we've seen so far what it comes with. The wheels from the concept and the green brake calipers, minus the polycarbonate covers, should be the standard fitment while the ten-spoke magnesium wheels will be a 29,750-euro (about $39,000 US) option.
