Porsche 911 Carrera 911 G50 on 2040-cars
Murfreesboro, Tennessee, United States
1987 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 G50 Coupe low miles and rare color combination. It is a 3 owner car from new, I am the 3rd owner on the car. It is all original, no accidents, no paint work, no interior work. This car drives out beautifully. I have put about 1500 miles on the car after doing a major service on it (valve adjustment, oil change, filters, spark plugs), and the car hasn't skipped a beat. Driving the car it is very smooth and tight on the road. The power comes on smooth and strong without hesitation. Car starts up right away every time. Steering is very tight and the 911 drives straight and firm. The G50 transmission lives up to its reputation and shifts flawlessly up and down. Clutch feels great as well and the brakes feel like new. Inside the car, the interior is still soft and full of life...the AC actually works and works well. This is a rust free all original car that is just a pleasure to drive. All this....rare colors combined with the well desired G50 transmission make this late model Carrera a perfect fit for a collector or someone interested in a true classic 911. Details: Mechanical: -Stock 3.2 which is known as one of Porsche's bulletproof engines. Engine is very strong and smooth. Does not smoke other than the typical 911 startup puff. Valves were just adjusted along with oil change, fuel filter, spark plugs and general oil leaks addressed. Case does not leak oil. The engine has turbo valve covers and cat bypass pipe as well. Exterior: -Rare color which comes off as a slight purple/blue. It is a metallic known as Cassis Red from the factory. The paint shines up very well, absolutely no rust on the car externally or underneath. Car has never been painted. There are some scrapes and scratches around the car that appear to be parking lot related. Also the car has the typical rock chips on the front bumper and mirrors. Body panels are all straight with the exception of a couple minor dings. I have shown these in the photos I've included at the end of this description (over 200 photos of the entire car). underneath the car is in great shape. Floors are straight, fuel tank straight, rockers straight. And once again, no rust. Interior: -Inside the car is very amazing for the car's age. Leather looks and feels new. The dash is not raised or cracked, No sagging of the headliner, and the carpets are near perfect. Once again, detailed photos on the link below. The AC holds a charge, and blows nice and cool. Heat, windows, fans, locks, lights all work as well. This car was not optioned with central locking. However it was optioned with power seats, and an alarm. Sunroof works great, no leaks. Car has books (owners manual missing), spare tire, wheel locks, tools and jack. Suspension/Brakes: -Stock suspension and brakes. New brake pads all around, rotors are excellent and the car has brand new pad sensors. Car was optioned with 15 inch wheels show well for their age, no curb rash.

Bugatti and Rimac joint venture profitable 'beyond expectations'
Thu, Dec 1 2022WARWICK, England — The joint venture between Croatian electric carmaker Rimac and Bugatti has been far more profitable than anticipated as the two brands work on developing vehicles together under one roof, Rimac's top executive said on Wednesday. "It's highly profitable and cash flow positive beyond anybody's expectations," Rimac CEO Mate Rimac told Reuters in an interview at the UK offices of the carmaker's Rimac Technology unit in Warwick. "It's such a win-win situation for everybody." Rimac added the joint venture has brought "lots of synergies going both ways." The Rimac Group comprises the Bugatti-Rimac JV, producing the electric sportscar Nevera and the Bugatti Chiron — which is owned 45% by Porsche AG — and a technology unit which supplies battery systems and powertrain components to other carmakers. Earlier this year the group raised 500 million euros ($519 million) in a new funding round. Rimac's CEO said the company has developed a "really close strategic relationship" with Porsche, which was listed by its parent Volkswagen in October. Porsche holds a 20% stake in the Rimac group. "We are really collaborating on many levels, developing and producing lots of key elements of their (Porsche's) future hybridization and electrification," he said. Rimac's CEO said the group must become more like Ferrari with a predictable, stable and profitable business before it can contemplate an initial public offering. "They (Ferrari) make projections and they always achieve," he said. "What I want to have is some kind of stability and certainty before we do an IPO because we don't want to make promises we can't keep." An IPO could happen anytime from three years to a decade from now, and could involve going public as a group or spinning off a unit, he said, but is definitely coming because "we obviously have financial investors that at some point want to exit." VW adding particulate filters to gas engines
Wed, Aug 3 2016Volkswagen is working hard to overcome the PR disaster that is its diesel emissions scandal, and part of its efforts is focusing, weirdly, on petrol engines. Starting in June 2017, the embattled German automaker will add particulate filters to the gas-powered Volkswagen Tiguan and Audi A5. The change will eventually impact nearly every direct-injected gas engine the VW Group makes. Audi? Particulate filter. Seat? Particulate filter. Even Bentley is going to get the tech, all in a bid to reduce soot emissions by 90 percent. In fact, by 2022 VAG expects 7 million of its vehicles to boast the emissions-cleaning tech, which has long been a fixture on diesel engines. "Following increases in efficiency and lower CO2 output, we are now bringing about a sustained reduction in the emission levels of our modern petrol engines by fitting particulate filters as standard," Volkswagen Group research and design boss Dr. Ulrich Eichhorn said in a statement. "In the future, all models will be equipped with the latest and most efficient SCR catalytic converter technology." VW's initial rollout focuses on the 1.4-liter, turbocharged Tiguan and the 2.0-liter, turbocharged A5. Considering the popularity of the 2.0-liter across the VW range, we'd expect it's only a matter of time before VW expands its particulate filters tech to additional gas-powered vehicles. Lamborghini Miura, Porsche 911 highlight Techno Classica
Mon, Apr 11 2016Visitors to the Techno Classica show in Germany this weekend were treated to the spectacle of all manner of classic cars under the roof of the Messe Essen. Not surprisingly, the Volkswagen Group was well represented, with the historical departments of two of its flagship marques showcasing their in-house restoration projects – albeit in radically different states of repair. While Porsche brought a completely restored example of a particularly storied 911, Lamborghini went the opposite route by displaying the bare body-in-white for a Miura. With the Miura now celebrating its 50th anniversary, Lamborghini's recently launched PoloStorico division is in the process of restoring several examples. Chassis #5030 is a Miura SV that, as you can see, is still in the middle of its refurbishment, its frame corrected but still unfinished – but that didn't stop the Raging Bull marque from putting it on display. It was joined by the freshly completed green example (chassis #4846) that was the department's first project, as well as the engine from a Miura P400S. Meanwhile, Porsche Classic arrived with a lovely 911 2.5 S/T, the precursor of the 911 RSR. One of only 24 examples made, this particular vehicle won its class at Le Mans in 1972 at the hands of works driver Jurgen Barth (who would alter claim victory overall in '77). It was rediscovered in poor health decades later by a collector, who commissioned Porsche Classic to bring it back to life. The task proved monumental, the vehicle having been modified, crashed, rusted, and used as a playground for children. Both vehicles aptly demonstrate the kind of care that these manufacturers' own restoration departments put into preserving their company's legacy. If you weren't in Essen this weekend to see them first-hand, you can check them both out in the pair of image galleries. Showing the original Miura SV first unveiled at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show and the subject of a full restoration by Lamborghini PoloStorico, the stand also displays a Miura chassis demonstrating work in progress and a fully overhauled Miura engine.
