Porsche 911 Carererra Cabriolet on 2040-cars
Malvern, Pennsylvania, United States
2004 Porsche 911 Cabriolet, 6-speed manual. British
racing green exterior, camel brown leather interior. Brand new black convertible
top. This is a 2 owner car. Purchased new in late 2004 from
Pacific Porsche in Southern California. The car spent its entire life in
So Cal (Hermosa Beach, to be specific which is a very affluent area) until I
purchased the car 15 months ago and had it shipped to me in Philadelphia.
It was owned by a man in his mid-to-late 50’s is my guess on his age. Since I
have had the car I have put approximately 2,500 miles on it and have had it
garaged the entire time. I have put a brand new top on it as well as did
some minor mechanical work to it – tune up, oil change, and new battery… On the outside the car is a 9.5 out of 10. Not a
scratch/dent/or blemish to be found on the car except a few rock chips on the front. Tires are in very good
shape, rims are perfect. As previously mentioned, there is also a brand
new convertible top. Mechanically it is pretty much perfect.
I had it checked out by a Porsche mechanic and he gave it a clean bill of
health. The inside: I would rate this car an 8 out of
10. The dash, door panels, and carpet are all in phenomenal shape.
The only reason I rank it as an ‘8’ is that each one of the leather seats could
use some patchwork. I detailed the small issues in the pics as
accurately and honestly as I can. The seats despite the two small holes,
they are in good shape. If you want this car to be a 10 in every aspect,
you could certainly redo the seats. I have gotten some estimates to redo
both seats to the exact dye of the Porsche leather and it will run approx.
2K. I’m sure you could get it done quite a bit cheaper but those are the
quotes to do the entire job perfectly. I have babied all of my cars but I am getting rid of many of
my toys – I have a 2007 BMW 550i (also a stick shift) that is in absolutely
flawless shape as well as my 1986 Volvo 240 (again, 5 speed manual) that is in
superb shape, and a Wellcraft 22 foot bow rider. I have included pics but can get more upon request.
Below is the carfax report that I kept from my purchase last year. Do not
let the miles fool you. This is one of Porsche’s best engines
produced. If properly cared for and not abused, this car can easily top
200K miles as the engine is near indestructible on these cars. This is a
prime reason I bought it but due to some unforeseen life changes I am selling
many of my possessions. I am selling this as a very low
reserve auction. I will aid in shipping the car or can show the car
personally if you are local. KBB 2013 Brand Image Awards has some obvious and oddball winners
Sat, 30 Mar 2013The sixth edition of the Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Awards have crowned a wide range of winners - in a couple of cases the recipient of the laurels might say more about KBB users than they do about the actual winner. Compiled from the responses of more than 12,000 shoppers on KBB.com over the past year, there are 13 categories broken into non-luxury, luxury and truck segments "representing the combined wisdom of the American car-buying public."
The award categories have been revamped this year, with some dropping off, some new ones appearing and at least one other given a new term. What isn't surprising is that Honda won Most Trusted Brand for the second year running, Best Value Brand for the third year in a row and took Best Overall Brand, which wasn't on last year's list of awards.
On our own shores, in the non-luxury categories Chrysler got Most Refined Brand and Buick took Best Value Luxury Brand. Neither one of those marques won anything in last year's Brand Image Awards, while Cadillac, which won Best Interior Design Brand and Best Comfort Brand last year - those awards disappeared this year - went home without a single accolade.
Mark Webber gets early clearance for Porsche departure
Thu, 28 Nov 2013If there's no rest for the wicked, there's surely even less rest for the wickedly fast. And make no mistake about it, Mark Webber is wickedly fast. He may not have proven able (or given the opportunity, depending on who you ask) to emerge from Sebastian Vettel's shadow after six seasons partnered with the multiple world champion at Red Bull Racing, but he's still won nine Formula One grands prix, to say nothing of the sports car races he won with Mercedes in the late 90s. But now he's leaving F1 to anchor Porsche's new LMP1 program, and according to the latest reports, he's departing Red Bull for Porsche sooner than expected.
Typically an F1 driver is obliged to stay with his team until the end of the calendar year - not just the end of the racing season - helping out with things like promotional events and fine-tuning next year's car. But news.com.au reports that Red Bull has given him early leave, so once the racing action in Brazil is done on Sunday, he's departing straight for Porsche's racing headquarters in Wiessach, Germany.
It won't be Webber's first visit to the facility, having already swung by to have his new seat fitted. But his early arrival will undoubtedly help him and Porsche get up and running ahead of schedule. The move may have been facilitated by a new sponsorship deal that could see Webber carry Red Bull with him to Le Mans, so don't be too surprised to see the energy drink company's logo on the side of the new Porsche once the new racing season gets under way next year, whether in concert with or instead of the anticipated revival of the Martini Racing livery.
Petrolicious studies the purity of a Porsche 911 2.7 RS
Thu, 17 Oct 2013Water-cooled Porsches are superior to the old, air-cooled models. This really isn't up for debate, despite the mob of Porsche purists, with pitchforks and torches in hand, currently descending on the Autoblog offices. Water-cooled models are more powerful and easier to live with, two factors that make modern Porsches just so darn amazing.
And while we won't hear arguments on anything we've written above, we will say that the old air-cooled models, while not superior, are just, somehow, better. They sound better - a lot better. They're simple, elemental and wildly entertaining things, that just beg for more and more. They rev in a way that forces drivers to work to unlock their power, rather than just push their right foot down. Part of the appeal of air-cooled Porsches, in addition to what we just listed, are the gorgeous cars they're slotted into, like the subject of the latest video from Petrolicious.
Starring a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS, this video is a bit shorter than recent ones, but it's no less exciting. This 911, complete with it's sweet-sounding exhaust is the kind of simple, entertaining thing we can watch over and over. Scroll down for the full video.
