This is an incredible example of the sought after 1973 Porsche 911. This car is rust free! It has been owned by the original owner for 41 years. I bought it from the original owner, and he was reluctant to sell but has some health issues. His son helped prepare the vehicle for sale. This car has been upgraded with steel ST fenders front and rear. This conversion occurred about twenty years ago. It was a great job and has held up well. The car has the tilting sport seats, which are hugely valuable by themselves. In addition the vehicle has a 2.7S motor which has the upgraded chain tensioners, as well as Weber carburetors. It is a fast nimble and exhilarating car. The wheels are Compmotive and fifteen inches in diameter, and the tires are old, and should be replaced. Both front and rear bumpers are steel, although I don't know their origin.

The great! Gaps are great all around! You can enjoy and drive as is. These vehicles are on the rise in price. Drive a classic long hood Porsche. I can visualize this vehicle with the correct Fuch wheels, Viper green Carrera stripe kit for an RSR and a killer duck tail. It could be phenomenal! Transmission has the short shift kit on the linkage. Drives and runs fantastic. Brake discs are new all around and are ventilated like the "S" model. The clutch and transmission work great, no synchronizer issues. The engine is strong and runs great! The paint is beautiful and is the original color. The car has been repainted and is very nice and shiny. The sport seats are extremely comfortable and supportive. The interior is in very nice condition. The carpets look original to me, and appear to be in great condition. Rust free 1973! These are hard to find. Start with a great foundation and build it into what you want.

The not so good. No spare tire, no tool kit, no jack, no owners manual, no receipts. The original owner closed and moved his business, so is looking for receipts, but also in poor health, so plan on as is! The generator light is on while running, even though it appears to be charging. The tachometer also doesn't work, the passenger side door needs the door stop repair kit, the rear brake lights work, but not the taillights. Headlights and wipers work. The horn and turn signals also don't work. The car hasn't been driving regular in about twenty years so expect some sorting. The owner's son did replace the fuel lines, new fuel pump, and did new brakes all around. He is a motorcycle mechanic, but not a Porsche mechanic, so please review his work for correctness. The mirrors are not original, and the adjustors are in the original door panels. I do not have the original wheels, deck lid, original seats, or steering wheel.

Porsche 911 Cabriolet refresh may hide new engine

Wed, 22 Jan 2014

If we learned nothing else from our recent frolic through Porsche's secret museum, it's that the automaker goes to incredible lengths to disguise future products during initial testing. Just as a number of cars in that Stuttgart bunker hid the true identity of developmental mules (like the Audi-V8-powered 911), such could very well be the case with these spy shots showing what, on the surface, appears to be simply a facelifted 991 911 Cabriolet.
Similar to what we saw last month on a 911 coupe, this Cabriolet has obvious styling modifications made to the front and rear fascias suggesting that the 911's still-fresh appearance is already set to get a few tweaks. The big news here is at the rear of the car. The additional vents on the lower edge of the fascia and the mocked-up vent above the engine leads our spy photographer to believe that a new engine could be tucked under the body work - likely a smaller-displacement, turbocharged flat-six focusing more on improving fuel efficiency and reducing exhaust emissions rather than performance.
We last heard rumblings of such a detuned 911 back in August, but could this be our first look at said new model? Have a look for yourself, and let us know what you think - either about this mule specifically or the idea of a "green" 911, in Comments below.

Porsche wins the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans

Sun, Jun 14 2015

The question going into this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans was whether or not the Porsche 919 Hybrid would be able to combine its qualifying pace with race reliability. After battling neck-and-neck with Audi's R18 for most of the race, the answer is a resounding yes. Not only did Porsche drivers climb the first two spots on the podium, they did so without any major mishaps on track. This win is the first overall trophy for Porsche since 1998. Audi previously won the last five races, and 13 of the last 15. Corvette also returned to the winner's circle, with the No. 64 C7.R taking winning the GTE Pro division. The victory is the first class win for Corvette since 2011. KCMG won the LMP2 class in ninth overall. With 45 minutes to go the No. 98 Aston Martin crashed out of first place in GTE Amateur, giving the class win to SMP Racing's Ferrari and second place to the Patrick Dempsey Racing Porsche 911 RSR. For the full list of official results, click here. The GTE Pro class proved to be just as exciting as the P1 class, with a four-way battle for first after four hours into the race. For most of the race, the battle at the top went back and forth between the two German manufacturers. An tire puncture in the No. 7 Audi gave up the lead to Porsche, and moments later a crash forced the No. 8 into the garage. But a three-minute replacement of the front and rear bodywork kept the Audi in contention. As the race wore into the night, Porsche maintained a slightly faster pace than Audi. Nick Tandy took the lead on Lap 253 early Sunday morning, and car No. 19 never gave up the top position. The win is the first for all three drivers of the No. 19 – Nico Hulkenberg, Earl Bamber, and Nick Tandy. A lap behind in second was the No. 17 Porsche. The Audis fought reliability problems late in the race but still finished third with the No. 7 R18. The GTE Pro class proved to be just as exciting as the P1 class, with a four-way battle for first after four hours into the race. As the Aston Martin cars dropped away, the lone Corvette Racing entry took over, followed by a charging AF Corse team Ferrari 458 Italia. The Corvette and Ferrari continued to trade places in the final hours until gearbox trouble forced the No. 51 Ferrari out of contention. It was eventually passed by the other AF Corse car, No. 71. Nissan experienced all the pain of a first-year effort with its front-wheel-drive GT-R LM Nismo.

Malaise Era All-Stars

Fri, 17 May 2013

A few weeks ago, we bid a fond happy 40th anniversary to the automotive dark ages of 1973-84 that have come to be known as "The Malaise Era" - the performance ice-age when 160 horsepower was a lot and a 0-60 time of under 10 seconds was remarkable. Like music in the 1980s, everything in automobiledom didn't suck, however. There were a few bright spots. Here are five of our favorites:
