1967 Porsche 911R Tribute, California car, Light Ivory with Black interior. 2.8 liter rebuilt engine based on a 1967 911 aluminum case and late aluminum case 915 transmission. This is a very light and fast car re-created just as a real 911R was built (maybe better). We started with a very solid California chassis (no rust or accidents), stripped it down to bare metal, then had the rear flares done in steel to fit the rear 8" Fuchs wheels. Fiberglass front fenders, hood, bumpers and rear lid (from AIR Racing) were installed and properly fitted. Paint is high quality Light Ivory with Simi flat Black Jams done as 911Rs were. Trim was powder coated to Dull Aluminum and GT racing plastic Vent & Quarter windows were installed. Interior done as a 911R with a welded Roll Bar installed, RS door panels and carpet set, black headliner. However we did install new racing seats with head support and set up for 5 point seat belts and harness. Suspension, torsion bars, Bilsien Sport shocks, rack & pinion and brakes are from a 1986 Carrera: front and rear with fully adjustable sway bars and spring plates. Engine is based on a 1967 911 aluminum case, built to a 2.8 liter High Performance Twin Plug engine. Crank is counter balanced, hardened ans STD, rods are H beam, cylinders are Mahle fitted with custom JE forged Pistons - all balanced and blueprinted. The heads are Twin Plugged, ported and polished 911S with new RS valves and springs, DC 50 cams, Carrera Hyd tensioners, late 3.6 cam boxes and valve covers. Stainless Steel headers with a sport muffler. Weber Carbs were modified and set up for the 2.8 liters with help from PMO, K&N filters. Twin Plug Ignition distributor is from JB racing, MSD boxes contol the two Bosch Coils spark, great stuff. The Aluminum case 915 Transmission is rebuilt and a custom green face electric speedometer was made for this conversion. Wheels are 6x15 fuchs in the front and 8" x 15" in the rear. WE do have engine options available at an extra cost of course: 2.7 MFI RS twin plug 911/83 engine, 3.4 liter twin plug engine with carrello rods and PMO carbs. We also have many wheel and seat options. All questions and inspections must be done before bidding 1-707-559-5119 . Watch this Koenigsegg CCX hit 211 mph on a runway, outpacing McLaren's P1

Tue, 03 Jun 2014

Vmax200 in in England organizes events where those who care to show up with a supercar can run them down the two-mile runway at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground. Evo attended the latest event, bringing an impressively green Lamborghini Aventador to test its girth and gaping vents against other precious metals like the McLaren P1 and F1, Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and Enzo, a Porsche Carrera GT and enough 911 Turbos to start a dealership. Speaking of those Porsches, nine of the top ten slots in the top speed competition are claimed by modified 911 Turbos.
A monochrome Swede ruled them all, though, a black-and-white Koenigsegg CCX setting fire to the speed trap run after run, hitting 211 miles per hour at its quickest. It was followed by, surprise, a 911 GT2 modified by 9E that did 210 mph. You can watch the EVO video below, GT Spirit has a bigger breakdown of the day, and we've included another vid showing the tandem launch of the CCX and McLaren F1.

Porsche offers design walkthrough of Panamera Sport Turismo

Thu, 03 Jan 2013

The Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo was arguably the best concept car of 2012, and Porsche has been building upon that momentum by teasing us with videos of its first-ever station wagon design. After showing us some driving shots of the Sport Turismo, Porsche released a more in-depth and behind-the-scenes look at what it took to take the Panamera shooting brake from a full-scale clay model to the final product we saw on stage at the Paris Motor Show. In the video, Michael Mauer, Porsche style director, and Mitja Borkert, general manager advanced design style, both give a little insight about what went into creating the Sport Turismo Concept.
More than just a station wagon version of the Panamera, the Sport Turismo has a totally distinctive look nose to tail. Some of the key elements the designers touch on in the video include the Porsche-signature raised front fenders, the wide rear shoulders, the front wing inspired by the 918 Spyder, and even some of the car's unique touches, including the headlights and the three-dimensional "Porsche" lettering across the liftgate made from glass. One of the more exciting aspects of the concept - which is sadly just glossed over in the video - is the rear liftgate spoiler that features "variable aerodynamics" that sounds like it acts similar to the retractable spoiler on the current Panamera.
We still don't know if the Panamera Sport Turismo will make it into production, but if you want to see what went into creating this exciting concept car and see the different build phases designers went through to create the Paris show car, check out the video by scrolling below.

Porsche announces four flavors of updated Cayenne [w/video]

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

The new Macan may be getting all the attention lately, but Porsche hasn't forgotten about its larger crossover - the one that put it on the map in 2002 and on the road to profitability, with over half a million sold so far. So to keep the Cayenne at the top of its game, Porsche has announced several key upgrades for the 2015 model.
For starters, Porsche has updated the Cayenne's appearance with new front- and rear-end styling. The front bumper, fenders and hood are entirely new, with air fins flanking the nose to direct air into the intercoolers (each model now being artificially aspirated), and new bi-xenon headlamps and daytime running LEDs on every model but the Turbo, which goes all-LED. Around back there's also new taillights, tailgate handle, lower rear fascia and exhaust pipes. Meanwhile the interior has been upgraded with a 918-derived sport steering wheel and reformed rear seats with available ventilation.
The bigger news is under the engine bay, where Porsche is offering four choices. The base model is gone as the range starts with the Cayenne Diesel, followed by the Cayenne S, the new Cayenne S E-Hybrid and the top-of-the-line Cayenne Turbo. The Diesel model carries over the same 3.0-liter turbo diesel with 240 horsepower. The Cayenne S however packs a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 that's similar to the one found in the Macan Turbo and packs the same 406 lb-ft of torque but more power at 420 hp, 20 more than either its little brother or the model it replaces to reach 62 mph in 5.2 seconds.
