2002 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe 2-door 3.6l on 2040-cars
Mooresville, North Carolina, United States
I just sold my Boxster and now I'm selling my 911. Both cars must go to make way for a planned 911 Turbo purchase. I am located in Mooresville, NC (45 minutes north of Charlotte, NC). I purchased this car from a Porsche dealer as a "Certified Pre-owned" in 2005 (I am the 2nd owner). This car has been garage kept (often under a cover) during the 9 years I have owned it. I have driven the car an average of less than 7,000 miles per year and the car has been meticulously maintained (service records available). The car was involved in one low speed parking lot accident early last year. The car was parked and an inattentive driver backed up into the fender panel behind the driver side front wheel and the very front of the driver side door (both panels were lightly creased). The accident was very low speed but that area is unprotected and he hit with the right rear corner of his rear bumper (his car was undamaged). The good news is the body shop did a top rate repair (the damage cannot be seen...look at the 2nd image in my listing). Since the car needed some paint work to fix that area I used the visit as an excuse to re-spray the front bumper and hood which had collected numerous rock chips over the years (very noticeable on a black car with light gray primer under the paint). Obviously neither the bumper or the hood was damaged in the accident, but the paint in these areas now has almost no rock chips and is in like new condition (check out the pictures)! The car has numerous upgrades that include; - Champion Forged RG5 wheels (GT3 Size and offsets) - EVO Intake - Dash Mounted Spoiler switch - Full leather power seats - Heated Seats - EVO Intake - Porsche x74 Coilover suspension system - Porsche Carbon fiber center console - Porsche Carbon fiber Gear shift knob - Blinder Laser jammer installed (included in auction) - Wired for Valentine One Radar Detector (not included in auction) - Custom car cover (included in auction) - Original Porsche Floor Matts (Not pictured, but in good condition and included in auction) - Short Shift Kit - Aluminum Gauge rings - Full Leather Door Bins - Porsche Non-smoker Center console - IMS Guardian installed - LN Engineering IMS Bearing installed - Litronic HID Headlights - Clear corners installed - Porsche 6 CD Disk changer (located in front trunk) - Ruf Aluminum Pedals - Front sways bar links replaced March 2014 - Replaced a sticking variocam lifter March 2014 On Apr-22-14 at 05:53:47 PDT, seller added the following information: 4/22 - A few bidders have asked about the rear spoiler. It is fully functional and operates normally. Additionally, I apologize for not including an engine picture in the listing. If anyone would like pictures of the engine and the spoiler in the extended position please send me a note with your e-mail address and I'll forward pictures. I forgot to list one upgrade on the car, it has the IPD Plenum installed. The engine management software and "cats" are stock. The car is fully emmission compliant. Ray S |

Consumer Reports declares most and least loved cars [w/video]
Wed, Dec 3 2014Consumer Reports is crunching the numbers from its annual owner-satisfaction survey, and part of that process is finding out how attached drivers are to their cars. CR simply asks readers of models up to three years old if they would buy the same vehicle again in light of their entire ownership experience, and tallies the results. After looking at the responses for about 350,000 vehicles, it turns out that people really love a certain California-built, electrically powered luxury sedan. That's right, this year's the overall winner was the Tesla Model S with a whopping 98 percent of owners saying they would purchase another one (the Model S also won this award last year, with 99 percent satisfaction). The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray came in a close second with 95 percent of drivers hoping to park another one in their garage. A few models weren't quite so favored, though. The Nissan Versa Sedan was the least loved model among its owners; a mere 42 percent said that they would purchase another. The aging Jeep Compass didn't do much better, with just 43 percent of drivers willing to buy the softroader again. On average, about 70 percent of owners say they would buy their car again, and only four cars ranked below 50 percent in CR's findings. Check out the video above to see some of the winners and losers in a few of CR's categories. If you're a subscriber, you can check out the full list on its website. Son of Porsche 911 designer recalls 1963 Frankfurt debut
Wed, 16 Oct 2013
The Goodwood Revival is described by its presenters as the greatest motorsport racing party of the year. We often focus heavily on the motorsports, but you can't forget about the party. For the first preview of the new 911 Turbo in the UK, Porsche recreated its booth from the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963 - the time and place of the original 911's public debut.
Porsche's cameras also caught up with Mark Porsche, the great grandson of Dr. Ferdinand Porsche and son of the late Ferdinand Alexander "Butzi" Porsche, who oversaw the design of the 911. Mark Porsche admires the 911's friendly design, which is set off by the round headlights, and says his mother, who was at the original Frankfurt booth in 1963, was milling around the booth at Goodwood - no doubt taking a trip down memory lane.
