I've had my 996 turbo for over 5 years and its time to move on. This is going to be one of the nicest/cleanest 996 turbos you will ever see. It has not seen one drop of rain ever or any other inclement weather in it's life. There is not one swirl mark in the paint. The carpets/floor mats have never been stepped on. No rings worn therefore the shifter and steering wheel have no scratches and look new. No kids, animals, eating or smoking ever in this car. It has never spent a night outside. It is 100% stock with the exception of HRE 847r wheels ($10,000) and KWV3 coil overs ($5000). The HREs have polished lips and brushed centers and brushed inner barrels. Both the centers and inner barrels are clear coated so the entire wheel is finished. TheKWV3s are fully adjustable so you can adjust the ride height and the compression as well as rebound settings to get the exact ride you want. I have the stock wheels/tires and suspension that is included with the car. Everything on it works 100%. It needs nothing. It has evolution motor sport billet aluminum diverter valves, almost new battery and I just had the rear spoiler hydraulics repaired at cabriolet hydraulics in Florida. I have all the maintenance records for it and I included a spec sheet of the allignment after the KWV3s were installed. When it had about 15k miles on it I replaced all three radiators and all hoses and all associated hardware. I also have clear bra on the entire hood, front quarter panels, headlights, rocker panels and behind all wheels. The clear bra is Avery. All the edges of the clear bra wrap around the edges on all the panels so you don't see the line or edge on the panels. The clear bra that is on the rocker panels are one off custom pieces I had made. No other Porsche has these. Rock chips make me crazy can't have that! Never raced or abused obviously. I have tons of pictures and will be happy to answer any questions. This car is truly the exception and one would have to search for a very long time to find a nicer one. I've seen brand new cars with under 100 miles on them that are in worse condition than this car. If you want the nicest and cleanest 996 turbo anywhere, congratulations you just found it. If interested you email me at d.mcintosh@live.com or call/text 702-321-6365 thanks for looking and serious inquires only please.

Porsche revisits the 911's dirty side with rally history film

Fri, 03 Jan 2014

It might not be a coincidence that there are rumors of Porsche revealing a safari version of the 911 at April's Beijing Motor Show, just as the Dakar Rally is about to begin. Adding fuel to the dusty desert fire is a just-released official video of Jeff Zwart driving the Porsche 953 that Jacky Ickx drove to victory in the 1984 edition of the race.
In the video, the seven-time Pikes Peak International Hill Climb winner talks about how he grew up with the 911; it wasn't only the car he learned to drive in, it was his choice of racecar no matter whether the course was tarmac or the dirty stuff.
You can decide for yourself if these recent events are mere coincidence while you enjoy the 953's exhaust note in the video below. If you've got the time to see the 953 during its race-conquering drive and find out what the ersatz Paris-Dakar Rally used to be, we've also included a broadcast of that 1984 race below as well. Fast-forward to 19:44 to see the Porsches cross the open dessert and 29:09 to watch one of them tackle the dunes.

40+ cars that barely avoid the gas guzzler tax

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

The Gas Guzzler schedule, with mpg ratings and charges that haven't changed since 1991, lays out which fuel-swillers owe what to Uncle Sam.
I started thinking about the "Gas Guzzler Tax" - considerably less well known as The Energy Tax Act of 1978 - when I was driving Dodge's new Challenger SRT Hellcat last week. Unsurprisingly for a car that can burn 1.5 gallons of gas per minute at max tilt, theoretically able to empty a full tank of premium in about 13 minutes, the Hellcat will be subject to the Gas Guzzler Tax schedule when it goes on sale.

2014 Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid

Porsche's Performance Plug-in Preamble
By the end of this year, Porsche will be producing as many plug-in vehicles (two) as mainstream automakers such as Toyota, Chevrolet and Honda. Before the 2015 918 Spyder hybrid supercar goes on sale in the US, though, it will be warming its customers up to the idea of a plug-in model with the 2014 Panamera S E-Hybrid. A step up from the previous Panamera S Hybrid, the new plug-in Panamera adds a more powerful and advanced electric drive system that pledges to deliver the performance expected of a Porsche with the added benefit of improved fuel economy and reduced emissions.
Going on sale in November, the Panamera S E-Hybrid is aimed at customers also considering the upcoming plug-in version Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but the car's dimensions and performance could make it a competitor for Tesla Model S customers. We headed to Germany at Porsche's invitation to see how well it performs, as well as check out the full range of newly refreshed Panamera models, which now numbers nine offerings - although we're still waiting for a production version of the gorgeous Sport Turismo wagon concept.
