Selling my 2001 996 Carrera 2 since I'll be moving out of state in the fall. I purchased the car in September 2012 from Landers Toyota with a little over 70,000 miles on it. It currently has 80,376 miles but this may change as I don't let my cars sit in the garage. According to the Autocheck report, I am the second owner and the car has been in Arkansas its entire life. No accidents or repair work. I have always hand washed the car using a variety of Adam's, 1Z, and Sonax products. The vehicle is completely stock except for clear side markers, 15mm H&R spacers all around, and Speedtech mufflers that give it a more throaty sound without any drone. Factory wheel bolts will be included in case you want to remove the spacers.

Exterior
The car was my daily driver from September 2012 up until now (I just purchased a Land Cruiser to take its place). It is in good shape for its age and has been maintained with no expense spared. However, it is not a garage queen. There are a few minor dents behind the drivers side door, some scratches on the center of the rear bumper, and small stone chips on the front bumper and lower hood. Most of these are too minor to be seen in the pictures though. These are the things that any car with 80,000 miles will have that most owners tend not to mention when selling a car. Overall the paint is in good condition and looks great with a coat of wax on it. The wheels have some curb rash that is shown in the pictures. Around 72,000 miles the front windshield was replaced due to a rock chip. The new one is from Saint Gobain (the OEM supplier), not the aftermarket junk that my insurance company wanted to use.

Interior
The interior is in great shape as well. All leather components have been cleaned and conditioned regularly. There are no rips or tears in the leather seats, although the steering wheel does show some minor wear on the left side. Power seats, sunroof, windows, and stereo work as they should. This car has the factory upgraded sound system which sounds significantly better than a stock 996 stereo. There are some small scratches on the center console.

Mechanical
All maintenance has been done at Perfection Plus, a local Porsche specialist. Last oil change was at 74,000. Both front lower control arms and front swaybar drop links have been replaced due to worn bushings. Bank 1 post-cat O2 sensor replaced as well. New clutch and updated RMS installed at 77,200. See pictures for invoice. The only drawback that I can think of is a minor clunking sound coming from the front suspension when the vehicle travels over bumps or irregularities at speeds below 40-45mph.  The noise does not affect how the vehicle drives and doesn't occur at all once you get above 40-45mph. My mechanic inspected the vehicle, drove it, and could not find the source. I personally suspect it is a worn rubber bushing somewhere in the suspension that could be replaced for a couple hundred bucks or less if you do it yourself. I have factored this issue into the reserve price.

Porsche 911 GT3 RS revealed in patent photos

Fri, 01 Aug 2014

Porsche has been taking its time developing the most hardcore 911 models for the latest 991 chassis. While the GT3 has been on the market for a little while, it suffered from some teething issues. The 911 GT3 RS is certainly on the radar since being spotted testing, but it's always better to get a look at a new car without all of the camo to hide the coolest parts. Thankfully, Car in the UK has some patent photos of the RS ahead of its debut, and they show off one mean-looking 911.
The first thing that you notice about the RS is that Porsche clearly isn't afraid to rework the latest 911's shape for its track-focused version. Each piece is slightly resculpted to squeeze the most out of it. Up front, the air dam has the same shape to the earlier photos. They also both highlight the upcoming model's tiny air inlet at the tip of the hood, the massive intakes in the rear fenders and general design of the rear wing with a ducktail underneath. The bubbled roof is much clearer here, where it was disguised in spy shots. You can also spot the slashing fender gills behind the front wheels that are a completely new feature.
The GT3 RS is the ultimate naturally aspirated 911 for the street, but according to Car, Porsche aims to take that even farther with the latest model. If these are the looks, then it's working. Unfortunately, the new version's powerplant remains a mystery. Though, given all the changes to the bodywork, the engine is almost surely getting tweaked over the 475-horsepower GT3. The RS is rumored to hit the road and be screaming down the track in 2015.

Lexus leads J.D. Power's Vehicle Dependability Study for 2021

Thu, Feb 18 2021

J.D. Power's latest Vehicle Dependability Study is out, and, not surprisingly, Lexus sits at the top for the ninth time in the last 10 years. Right behind Lexus is Porsche, followed by Kia, which is the highest-ranked mass-market brand in the study. Genesis, last year's top-ranked brand (in its first year included in the results), fell from first to eighth, though the G80 sedan did earn an award in its midsize luxury segment. The Porsche 911 was called out as the Most Dependable Model by J.D. Power for the second time in the last three years. The vehicles being studied are from the 2018 model year, which means owners have had three years to get to know their cars and trucks. It's notable that this year's study shows a marked improvement in overall vehicle dependability as tracked by J.D. Power. The overall level of problems, scored by the number of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100), declined by 10% compared to last year.  "The study results validate what we have known for some time," said Dave Sargent, vice president of global automotive at J.D. Power. "Automakers are making increasingly dependable vehicles — but there are still some problem areas that need to be addressed and some warning signs on the horizon." Tesla makes its inaugural appearance on the Dependability Study, though its score of 176 PP100 isn't official. Tesla is the only automaker that has chosen not to grant J.D. Power permission to survey its owners in all 50 states. As we've pointed out in the past, the Vehicle Dependability Study includes eight major vehicle categories grouped by J.D. Power as follows: audio/communication/entertainment/navigation (ACEN); engine/transmission; exterior; interior; features/controls/displays (FCD); driving experience; heating, ventilation and air conditioning; and seats. All issues reported by owners are all tracked equally, which means a problematic phone pairing procedure dings an automaker's rating the same as a blown engine or transmission. And in fact, the ACEN category has more reported problems than any other, which means the majority of problems reported don't lead to a vehicle that leaves its owner stranded.
