Summary: 2000 Porsche 911 C2, 3.4L flat-six, 6-speed manual transmission, 97k miles, Metallic Black over Graphite Gray, LN IMS, RMS, and clutch recently done, lots of options, super clean.

I'll make this somewhat brief, please email to request more pictures, a comprehensive description, and an Excel maintenance summary. I am selling my 2000 911 C2 with approximately 97k, I would rate this car as an excellent driver which is exactly how I have used it. This is my 5th 996, and despite being the highest mileage of the five it has been the best driving example. The exterior is Metallic Black with a Porsche OEM Aerokit, GT3Tek polyurethane GT3 front spoiler, Litronic HID headlights, and OZ Alleggerita HLT super light wheels shod with nearly new Bridgestone Potenza S04s. The interior is Graphite Gray with full leather on every surface, OEM carbon fiber, 3-spoke wheel, painted metallic black center console, non-smoker tray, expanded "hi-fi" speaker option with Porsche PCM1 navigation and trip computer as well as a CD changer, Redline Goods emergency brake and shift boot, Rennline turned aluminum shift knob with height adjustment, dual power seats with driver memory, and much more. The car is mechanically top notch, it had an LN Engineering ceramic intermediate shaft bearing (IMS), new rear main seal (RMS), and clutch installed at about 90k, as well as the full 90k service. I have done significant work to get it up to my standards including all new fluids, numerous small wear parts, console hinge reinforcement, motor mounts, MAF, new wheels and tires, replacing some of the faded interior carbon fiber, and much much more. Upgrades include the OZ wheels, a 997 shift console with EvoMS Swift shift kit that makes this the smoothest shifting 996 I've ever had, and performing the "Fister mod" on the OEM mufflers, giving it a great growl on acceleration but no additional noise at cruise.

Overall I would describe this as a spectacular driver condition car. It is very clean inside, and the exterior shows very nicely. This is a very high option 996 (window sticker included), MSRP was nearly $100k in 2000. I have service records back to 55k summarized in an Excel file and the original window sticker, so it is well documented. It is rather cliche, but I would drive it anywhere. Clean and clear KS title, ready to sell. Please contact me for the maintenance file, comprehensive description, and many more pictures. I can be reached at mattjessup3 at gmail.com or through this ad. Thanks for looking!

Parents of terminally ill child sue after son dies following make-a-wish-style ride

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

Some stories are so sad and depressing, they make you want to go back to bed and pull the covers over your head. This is one such story. 14-year-old Raphael Wittman was suffering from an unspecified form of terminal cancer when he was invited by the children's cancer charity Kinder Krebs Hilfe to a charity drive organized by Porsche Forum Austria. During the drive, the Porsche Boxster Wittman was riding in was involved in a head-on collision. Both of his legs were broken and he bit off his tongue in the wreck. He died seven weeks later, in a Vienna hospital. Now, his father is suing the charity, claiming that the accident robbed his son of the will to live.
"The accident set off a chain of events starting with the doctors putting him on new medication for the cancer he had. He was always a fighter, but suddenly he was saying that he was not going to fight any more," Franz Wittman told Austria's Kurier, according to The Guardian. "We would have had a wonderful last time together [on vacation] but it never happened because of the accident."
Father and son were originally planning to go to Tenerife to spend time together, although those plans were cancelled following the accident.

Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS caters to a very specific customer [w/video]

Mon, Jan 12 2015

Porsche is happy to cater to some very specific buyer demographics, and the brand's newly unveiled 911 Targa 4 GTS at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show is the perfect example of that tendency. The sports coupe is aimed at the customer who wants open-air driving without a full convertible, all-wheel drive traction and a little extra performance, all wrapped in a sporty package. Launching in the US in late-April, 2015, for $132,800, plus a $995 destination charge, this high-performance Targa benefits from all of the goodies from Porsche's GTS line. That gives it a 3.8-liter flat-six boasting 424 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of twist, and the choice of either a seven-speed PDK or seven-speed manual. The model also gets the Sport Chrono package, PASM, 20-inch wheels and a sport exhaust. Picking the PDK means the Targa 4 GTS can hit a top speed of 188 miles per hour and sprint to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds. Opting for the manual makes the run to 60 take a few more ticks at 4.5 seconds and scarcely cuts the top speed to 187 mph. The Targa 4 GTS is more than just about boosted performance, and shows off some handsome styling tweaks, as well. It wears a modded front bumper with an extra opening to cool the middle radiator. Plus, the wheels are 20-inch units from the 911 Turbo S, and the Bi-Xenon headlights get smoked coverings. Inside, drivers are held firmly in place by Sport Plus seats covered partially in black Alcantara. Porsche apparently sees a hole in its lineup that a higher-performance Targa can fill, and here it is. The new 911 Targa 4 GTS More powerful, dynamic and exquisitely styled To mark the 50th anniversary of the 911 Targa, Porsche is offering this very popular model in the more powerful and dynamic GTS version for the first time. The targa concept of the 911 Targa 4 GTS delivers very safe driving enjoyment with all-wheel drive and a rollover protection bar; it also delivers open-air fun with a targa top that stows fully automatically. Contributing to a boost in dynamic performance are the 430 hp (316 kW) GTS engine together with the standard Sport Chrono package, PASM chassis, 20-inch wheels and a sport exhaust system.

Porsche expects to hit 200k sales target 3 years early

Fri, Jan 9 2015

When Porsche launched the Cayenne, enthusiasts and purists – in between fits of rage – rationalized the SUVs existence by imagining that the money it brought in would guarantee the company's continued ability to produce the many beloved versions of its 911. The same was said when the Panamera arrived, and again when the Macan was unveiled. What probably wasn't imagined when these three more mainstream vehicles joined the Porsche catalog, was how dramatic an impact they'd have on the company's sales figures. The company expects 2015 to be a banner year, as it aims to hit a 200,000-unit sales goal three years ahead of schedule. Porsche sold nearly 190,000 units in 2014, a gain of 17 percent over 2013, while its year-over-year sales for December were up 39 percent. Considering Porsche made these gains before the full impact of the new Macan could be felt, it's no wonder the company is so keen on 2015. Porsche has already moved 45,000 Macans, which would be impressive on its own, were it not for the way the CUV is elevating the brand. According to a report from Reuters, two-thirds of the company's Macan deliveries have been to first-time Porsche customers. Considering these two facts, it will be extremely interesting to see the impact Porsche's newest model has on its sales over a full calendar year.
