I am a Porsche Enthusiast. I have owned four different 911 models over the last 30 years. I am offering up for sale my 1997 993 Cabriolet Porsche. I purchased this vehicle in August 2011. Since I have purchased it, I have only logged 1000 miles in the last 22 months. Since I drive the vehicle very little, I have decided to sell it. To find this vehicle, I had searched for 6 months prior to buying this 993. I was very selective during my search as I wanted a low mileage, well maintained 993. I found this 993 pretty close to home in Michigan. The 993 presented here is a Michigan car with two previous owners. The first owner had owned the vehicle for a short time, less than a year. The second owner had owned the vehicle form 1998 to 2011. The second owner took very good care of the car. I purchased the car from the second owner. I was able to document the mileage and had a pre- purchase inspection performed prior to buying the vehicle. The pre purchase inspection included a leak down test and no issues were found. In September 2011, I took the car to an authorized Porsche Dealer in Birmingham, Michigan to have a complete 30,000 mile service check performed. At the time, I instructed the mechanic to evaluate the car and "spare no expense" to service the vehicle so I would have peace of mind. The mechanic ( whom I feel is the best air cooled guy in the area) drove the vehicle and said other than the 30,000 mile service, no other issues or maintence items were needed, that was 1000 miles ago. I have the invoice from the service and I will include this documentation with the car. This car has always been stored in a garage, it has never been driven in winter, let alone rain. The overall condition is excellent. The car has a clean undercarriage. The engine bay is very clean. The engine does not drip oil. All engine shrouds are in place. Nothing has been modified. The interior is in excellent condition. There are no rips or tears in any of the material. There is no wear on any of the leather surfaces. I have included a photo of the driver seat which shows the condition and lack of typical wear on the bolster points. The body is in very good condition. The paint is original and has a high gloss. I have included a photo of the front fender which shows the high gloss. The vehicle has been hand polished and hand waxed, always. There is no discoloration of the paint in any of the door frames or in the hood and engine compartment areas. There is one area behind the right rear wheel which has a light scratch. I have included a photo of the scratch, hopefully you will be able to see the area as it is a very light scratch. The cabriolet top is original to the car and is in very good condition. The top has been treated with Renovo Ultra Proofer every two years to insure the top remains waterproof. Water droplets still bead on the top. The cabriolet top is in excellent condition. There is one wheel that has two small chips in the finish. I have included a photo of this particuar wheel, all the other three wheel are in excellent condition, which I show one other wheel in a photo. The tires are in average condition of wear. The wheel openings are very clean and the brake calipers are clean and have the original gloss black finish. Everything on the vehicle works. There is nothing that needs to be repaired. Even the light in the engine bay works! The vehicle comes with the Cabriolet tonneau cover, wind screen, both keys, owners manual, original sales brochure from 1997, tool kit, tire inflator kit and all the paperwork and invoices that are in my possesion. My vehicle was listed in Excellence Porsche Magazine, in the Feb 2012 and again in the May 2013 ownership experience section of the magazine. This section of the magazine is about owning a Porsche and I wanted to share and document my ownership experience with other Porsche Enthusiasts. A new battery was installed in August 2011. There is no smoke from the engine when cold or warm. The windshield has no cracks or chips. The back plastic window on the Cabriolet top is clear and scratch free. Basically this vehicle needs nothing to enjoy but to be driven and maintained. The options on the vehicle are: 445 painted wheel crests, 454 cruise control, 490 hi fi sound, 551 wind deflector, 692 remote 6 disc cd. 233 I don't know what this option is, 329 CR 210 Radio, 398 five spoke 17 inch wheels, 437 full power driver seat. The car also has the Porsche Drive Block option, which is a theft deterent sysyem. I will make the vehicle available for inspection if you would like to look at it or have a professional perform an inspection for you. I will assist with any transportation arrangements including overseas shipment but at your expense. I reserve the right to end this listing early. I am selling this car as is. I will not make refunds or price adjustments after the sale. My cell number is 248- five six one- 5121, if you have questions about the vehicle. I will not disclose the reserve price, but I feel it is very realistic and in line with the current market conditions. I will require a $1000 deposit by paypal within 48 hours of the end of the auction( non refundable) I require the balance of payment to be made by wire transfer within 7 days after the auction and before the vehicle can be picked up. I have a clear title in hand with no security interest on the title. Good Luck

The 2017 Porsche 911 RSR goes mid-engine, purists be damned
Wed, Nov 16 2016Porsche unveiled its World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech Championship competitor with the 2017 911 RSR. And this 911 is different from the rest, as the 4.0-liter flat-six engine powering this beast is in front of the rear axle, not behind it. That's right, this 24 Hours of Le Mans competitor ditches the iconic rear-engine layout. Porsche isn't talking specifics on how exactly things are arranged back there. The engine is new, now based on the 991 911's block instead of the previous Mezger motor that's been used for years. The transmission design is new as well – it would have to be to accommodate the new location relative to the engine. The racecar has been engineered to meet the LM-GTE class, where it will go up against other mid-engine cars like the Ford GT and Ferrari 488 GTE. Moving the engine to the middle has given Porsche the ability to fit the 911 RSR with massive bits of aero, like the humongous rear diffuser that looks like it would be more at home on a machine of war. The only thing that can compete with the diffuser for size is the top-mounted rear wing, which shares a similar design to the one found on the 919 Hybrid. Going back to the engine, the direct-injected boxer motor, depending on the size of the restrictor, generates as much as 510 horsepower and sends all of its fury to the rear wheels. The engine is paired to a six-speed sequential gearbox, which drivers can employ through paddles on the steering wheel. The new engine doesn't have a lot of weight to push around as the 911 RSR, as required by regulations, weighs 2,740 pounds. Speaking of weight, the engine layout isn't the only change for the 911 RSR. For 2017, the car ditches its steel body for one that's made out of carbon fiber. The body attaches to the chassis via quick-release fasteners, making the vehicle easier to service as exterior elements can be removed with minimal effort. The racecar also gets a radar-based collision system – aptly named the "Collision Avoid System" – which is meant to limit the 911 RSR's encounters with faster LMP prototypes. Only time will tell if the new layout and aerodynamic components help the 911 RSR beat its competition. But there will be plenty of opportunities to see the racecar in action as Porsche plans to run the 911 RSR in 19 races during the 2017 season, the first of which will take place at the IMSA opener on January 28th at Daytona, where the racecar will make its track day debut.
2014 Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid
Tue, 09 Jul 2013Porsche's Performance Plug-in Preamble
By the end of this year, Porsche will be producing as many plug-in vehicles (two) as mainstream automakers such as Toyota, Chevrolet and Honda. Before the 2015 918 Spyder hybrid supercar goes on sale in the US, though, it will be warming its customers up to the idea of a plug-in model with the 2014 Panamera S E-Hybrid. A step up from the previous Panamera S Hybrid, the new plug-in Panamera adds a more powerful and advanced electric drive system that pledges to deliver the performance expected of a Porsche with the added benefit of improved fuel economy and reduced emissions.
Going on sale in November, the Panamera S E-Hybrid is aimed at customers also considering the upcoming plug-in version Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but the car's dimensions and performance could make it a competitor for Tesla Model S customers. We headed to Germany at Porsche's invitation to see how well it performs, as well as check out the full range of newly refreshed Panamera models, which now numbers nine offerings - although we're still waiting for a production version of the gorgeous Sport Turismo wagon concept.
$76,400 Porsche S E-Hybrid will debut in Paris
Fri, Sep 26 2014The 2015 Porsche Cayenne S E Hybrid will be an all-new model, one that adds a plug – and the required associated technological bits – to the currently available Cayenne S Hybrid. The most important of those bits is a 10.8-kWh lithium-ion battery, but Porsche's Calvin Kim told AutoblogGreen that the SUV's electric-only range is still pending certification, but Hybrid Cars says that Porsche is estimating it'll be somewhere between 11 and 22 miles, "depending on the style of driving and route topography." Other than the new battery, the electric motor has been upgraded to a 95 horsepower/70 kW unit (up from the 47-hp/34 kW motor in the Cayenne hybrid without a plug). The overall powertrain now puts out a total of 416 hp and can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.4 seconds. Alongside the electric parts, there's a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission. You can find all of the E-Hybrid's available specs here and stay tuned for more information on the new plug-in SUV when it makes its debut at the Paris Motor Show in early October. The SUV will go on sale in the US on November 1, 2014 with a starting MSRP of $76,400, plus a destination charge of $995. In a new press release (available below), Porsche is also proudly saying, once again, that it will be the world's only automaker offering three plug-in hybrid models, once the Cayenne S E-Hybrid hits the market. The others are the Panamera S E-Hybrid and the 918 Spyder. How long will this reign at the top last? World premiere of the Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid in Paris Leading the industry: Porsche offers three plug-in hybrid models Stuttgart/Atlanta. The new Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid celebrates its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show. It is the world's first luxury SUV to offer a plug-in hybrid drive, setting new standards in its segment. The Cayenne S E-Hybrid also makes Porsche the leading manufacturer of plug-in hybrid vehicles: Complementing the Panamera S E-Hybrid and the 918 Spyder, Porsche is the only manufacturer worldwide to offer three plug-in hybrids. In addition to the Cayenne S E-Hybrid, Porsche is presenting the other models that comprise the new generation of Cayenne including the Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo, and Cayenne Diesel. Increased efficiency and performance, even more precise handling, a sharper design and a broadened array of standard equipment are its defining features.
