Up for auction is my 1995 Porsche 993 Carrera 4.

I am the original owner of this car and I never thought I would sell it.  My new baby daughter has changed that and we're in the market for a wagon.

The car has 70,900 miles, Polar Silver over black leather. 6-speed. It passed smog and has a clean title, title in hand.

Dealer maintained until January where it is being tended to by Claudio at Foreign Sports Technicians in Santa Monica.  Recent repairs include new battery, new alternator, new DME relays, new tires (500 miles on rears), new electrical connector for rear spoiler motor, all new belts, distributor service (replaced belt in dual distributor), passenger headlight, sun visor clip (including a 3D printed visor clip), fog light indicator switch bulb, trunk shocks and deck-lid shocks, new horn switch bushings and 4-wheel alignment just 100 miles ago.  AC is cold.  The engine literally leaps to life and is an experience that continues to thrill me.

As of my last repairs, there are no essential repairs necessary on the car and it's turnkey.  It's fully stock and unmodified except for the stereo system and speakers (I installed a Parrot head-unit with bluetooth and iPod-iPhone integration). I've kept the originals which are not working as the paper cones of the stock Nokia speakers wear over time.

The exterior of the car is gorgeous with lots of shine.  There are some door dings on the driver's side that were professionally removed, rock chips were touched up.  There are a few small scratches on the rear bumper.  The interior of the car is literally flawless except for the stick shift.  There is a small dime-sized cut and wear mark on the boot which happens over time when you put the car in reverse and the silver finish on top has worn.

Options include electric seats, sunroof, automatic speed control. Car was featured in "GoPro's Photo of the Day" twice and is being considered to be included in Porsche's book about the 50th anniversary of the 911.  Car is currently garaged in Venice Beach, CA.

I can help you do a PPI locally in Los Angeles and can make recommendations, or you can punch in 90291 to search for one yourself.

Thanks for looking.  It's never ever easy letting go of a 911. Will be happy to see this go to another air-cooled aficionado!

2015 Porsche Macan Turbo

Mon, 06 Jan 2014

The misinformation first started back in May of 2007 - more than six years ago - when word came that Porsche was developing a compact utility vehicle to fill out its product line. Rumors swirled that the German automaker's future "Roxster" would be based on the then-upcoming Audi Q5. By September of 2010, the name had changed to "Cajun," but the vehicle was still expected to be "based heavily on the Audi Q5," said reports in the months that followed. One year later, the first test mules were spotted, the mechanics hidden beneath barely disguised Audi sheetmetal, which did nothing to give the upcoming model its own identity. And even after Porsche announced "Macan" as the vehicle's production name in early 2012, articles stated that it would "arrive on the same chassis as the Audi Q5, though with suspension, brake and engine tweaks suitable to the Porsche range."
It's no wonder that most still consider the all-new Porsche Macan nothing more than a heavily massaged Q5.
To help lift some of the mystery surrounding its latest release, Porsche hosted us in Germany for an in-depth look at its new crossover (while Europeans call it a "sport utility," its car platform allows us to call it a proper CUV). The technology workshop offered us insight to the design and mechanical execution, and it concluded with a short test ride. The trip was both enlightening and educational - and it left us with a whole new perspective on the Macan.

Listen to the Porsche Macan's exhaust note ahead of its LA debut

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

As if we need further proof that the Porsche Macan won't just be another small CUV, it'll be a small Porsche CUV, the German automaker has released a video of the vehicle's raucous exhaust note. In short, the Macan will sport a far racier soundtrack than most of its competitors.
The raspy sound coming from one of the Macan's two turbocharged V6 engines sounds great (the video isn't clear as to whether we're listening to the base 3.0-liter or the Turbo model's 3.6-liter engine), and it's accompanied by a nice crackle on overrun. It isn't like a 911 or other flat-six model, but it is more or less what we expect a Porsche to sound like. We'll have all the details on the newest member of the Porsche lineup when it debuts later this month at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show. Scroll down for an official press release from Porsche, as well as the video of the Macan, and be sure to turn your speakers up.

Driving the Panamera and Mike's Rant | Autoblog Podcast #487

Thu, Sep 8 2016

This week we cover some recent news like the upcoming Land Rover Discovery, updates to FCA's large car platform (including the Challenger), and talk about water injection. Then we go into what we've been driving - David just finished his time in the Porsche Panamera Turbo and Mike tried the GMC Acadia. And then Mike (who is still uncomfortable writing in the third person) goes on a rant about why automakers shouldn't specify which cars are aimed at women. The rundown is below. Remember, if you have a car-related question you'd like us to answer or you want questionable buying advice, send a message or a voice memo to podcast at autoblog dot com.
