1988 Porsche 911 Carrara Coupe. All numbers match, engine, trans, body panels (all vin number tags are in place on body panels) etc and everything is in order. he car is in exceptional original unmolested condition with very low milage of 90,673 considering it's age. I adore this Carrara and am reluctantly selling the car. Factory options included Power Sunroof, Power Leather Seats, Cruise Control, 16 inch Fuchs wheels. I obtained the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) from Porsche which will be included.

Exterior:

All panels are razor straight. Paint is vibrant and very glossy. Appears to be all original and I see no evidence of resprays anywhere but I cannot guarantee this. It is possible the hood was resprayed since there are so few stone chips but I can't honesty tell. When I purchased the car it had a "Bra" on the hood (which is included) so that may be why there are few stone chips that you would typically see on these cars. There is one very small scratch and a very very small ding on the roof and some very minor blemishes around car as to be expected of a 30 year old vehicle. I choose to leave as is since they are so minor rather then touch up. I would rate the overall paint as a solid 8.5 out of 10. It presents really well and looks almost new. All Glass in very nice condition. Please note windshield does have some minor pitting. All lamps etc work properly. Please note remote electronic mirrors do not work and I never got around to checking into issue. Everything is super clean and in order with no signs rust or repairs anywhere, ever. Battery tray area clean and dry no issues. Includes original jack, spare and Tool Kit and I believe the original compressor.
I did install a German Dansk Sport muffler but retained the original that is included if you want it. Fuchs wheels are in good condition but I think 2 of them have minor blemishes. I did put small spacers on the wheels to fill out the wheel wells a bit better and installed longer wheel studs on the rear but retained the originals which are included as are a set of wheel locks. All rubber moldings, bumper pads, weather stripping, lens etc in very good condition. I did add the black stone guards on the rear panels but would be happy to remove them if you prefer prior to pick up of vehicle.

Interior:
Leather is tight and without tears, splitting, fading or discoloration. Bolsters show very little signs of wear that is typical on these cars. Dash is perfect, no distortion, discoloration or cracks. Headliner like new, Door panels very nice, (please note the door panel pockets are a bit distorted but very presentable) Pedals unworn, All switches, controls, indicators and gauges work correctly. Clock keeps perfect time (note, second hand does not work). Alpine period correct stereo. Sunroof works properly. Air conditioning was upgraded prior to my acquisition. Blows cool but not ice cold. May need a recharge but compressor is functioning properly. Carpets in very good condition with aftermarket Lloyds non logo front mats. Speakers were replaced with upgrades no modifications.
Heater works correctly. Shift knob shows wear and I had planned to replace. Gauges are clear, crisp with vibrant coloration on markings.

Engine:
The 3.2 Engine is all original and I see no evidence it has ever been out of the car. Ran a compression check on engine when I purchased car and all cylinders were up to spec and within range. Engine starts quickly, runs smooth and pulls strongly. Car shifts smoothly and properly and is firm and tight. No issues anywhere. Car will blow small amount of blue smoke upon startup for a few seconds if its been sitting a long time but never after that.

Always maintained and had recent plugs, cap/rotor , air filter, oil change and filter, transaxle fluid change, brake pads, etc. New battery installed 2016.
Engine compartment is in order and clean, All stickers in place. Insulation pad between engine and rear seat was recently replaced.

Ferrari IPO may turn out to be good news for enthusiasts

Tue, Oct 27 2015

Sergio Marchionne's strategy to spin off Ferrari from FCA and make the Italian automaker a publicly traded company has been met with ire from a vocal contingent of enthusiasts ever since rumors about the plan began to surface a few years ago. Some of these particularly pessimistic automotive pundits have voiced fears that with stockholders in the mix, it would not only spell the demise of the exclusive Italian supercar maker as we know it, but would in fact "ruin" the company. Call me dense, but I fail to see what the issue is. That isn't to say that I don't understand what's causing the fear. When profitability becomes a higher priority for a brand that's historically relied on exclusivity to keep its products in the highest echelons of desirability, there's a high potential for internal philosophical conflict. And then there are concerns about the sorts of products that Ferrari might develop that aren't the high-performance sports cars that the brand is known for. But individuals with those apprehensions seem to forget that Ferrari has already lent its name to a multitude of things that are not LaFerraris, 488 GTBs, or F12 Berlinettas, including clothing, headphones, and even laptops. But let's assume for a moment that the core anxiety is about future vehicles – including the unspeakable notion that Ferrari might develop an SUV. Why wouldn't Ferrari build an SUV, especially after seeing how incredibly successful that endeavor has been for Porsche? I think it's likely that Ferrari will put engineers to task creating some sort of crossover or high-rolling cruiser with room for the whole family at some point in the near future. And why wouldn't it, after seeing how incredibly successful that endeavor has been for Porsche? After all, the Cayenne accounted for more US sales in 2013 than the Boxster, Cayman, 911, and 918 combined, and it only gave up about a thousand units of sales last year to make room for the Macan crossover, the latter of which Porsche sold nearly as many of as it did Boxsters and Caymans. People want these vehicles, and they're willing to pay quite a bit of money for them. If we use Porsche's recent trajectory as a foreshadowing metric for what's in store for Ferrari, the future actually looks pretty good. After all, those SUV sales keep plenty of cash in Porsche's coffers for the low-volume projects that we enthusiasts love, like the 918 Spyder and the 911 GT3 RS.

2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS prowls into Geneva with biggest NA engine in the 911 range [w/video]

Tue, Mar 3 2015

We've been waiting for the debut of this road-going and race-ready Porsche 911 GT3 RS for quite some time now. As is typical for high-profile sports machines, the new 911 has been foreshadowed with spy shots and information leaks aplenty, all pointing to this grand day at Geneva. Here she is. Just a glance at the duct-sliced bodywork and massive rear wing will tell you that this Porsche means business, but let's look at its bona fides. The heart of the matter, under that short rear deck, is the largest-displacement and most powerful naturally aspirated engine in the 911 family, with 500 horsepower and 338 pound-feet of torque developed by the 4.0-liter flat-six. That hoss of an engine is mated to a newly developed version of Porsche's PDK dual-clutch gearbox – with functions such as "paddle neutral" that effectively works like depressing the clutch on a standard manual, and a Pit Speed button for on the track. Working in concert, engine and trans allow the GT3 RS to sprint to 60 miles per hour in 3.1 seconds, hit a quarter mile in 11.2, and lap the Nurburgring Nordschleife in just seven minutes, 20 seconds. (That 'Ring time makes it the fastest current 911 around the benchmark course, and five seconds faster than the current 911 GT3 – so quick.) Weight has been saved via exotic materials; the car sports a magnesium roof and carbon fiber for the trunk and engine lids. Overall the RS is 22 pounds lighter than the GT3, but also boasts a lower center of gravity. As we said at the top, there's a wide, low and aggressive body kit on the GT3 RS, all engineered with racing performance in mind. That huge rear wing is balanced in the front by a deep chin spoiler, and the front wheel arches have been punctuated with vents that help to increase downforce on the front axle. The roll cage is the most obvious interior modification to let one know that this is a racing tool, but Porsche has also slathered the space in Alcantara and installed carbon-fiber bucket seats (based on those found in the 918 Spyder) to drive the point home. The cost of such racing glory will be steep at $175,900 plus a $995 destination charge, but not out of the scope of the current ask for the 911 range, when you consider that a Turbo S runs over $180k. Look for 911 GT3 RS deliveries to start in July of this year in the US, and for track days to be more competitive for the addition. Dan Neil pokes fun at the celeb cars of 2014

Sun, Dec 28 2014

Look, we try really hard not to pay any attention to the Kardashians and their vapid reality TV empire. But, as troubling as that brood may be, occasionally we're impressed and/or horrified by their four-wheeled conveyances. In fact, that curiosity extends beyond talentless reality stars with rotund glutes to celebs in general. That's why we're enjoying Dan Neil's sometimes biting take on the celebrity cars of 2014. Besides paying tribute to Kim K, husband Kanye West and the adorable Lamborghini that their spawn rides about in, Neil also takes a look at LeBron James' turn as a Kia spokesman and boxer Floyd Mayweather's trio of Bugatti Veyrons. Matthew McConaughey is a focus of Neil's as well, thanks to his oft-panned advertisements for Lincoln (and the raucous parodies they inspired), before finishing on the high, with Jerry Seinfeld and his new Porsche 918 Spyder. Take a look at Neil's recap of the celebrity cars of 2014. News Source: The Wall Street Journal Celebrities Humor Bugatti Kia Lamborghini Lincoln Porsche Videos porsche 918 spyder celebrity dan neil
