1988 Porsche 911 on 2040-cars
Hudson, Florida, United States
Feel free to ask me any questions about the car : andreeammashiah@ukpeople.com .
A beautiful, well maintained, air cooled 911. No accident history. All panels appear to be original paint. Targa top is
in great condition, fits tight and the liner looks like new. All 4 wheels are OEM Fuchs in great shape with
factory wheel locks and no curb rash or damage, and are shod with matching Michelin tires that have 8/32's or more
tread remaing. The car runs and drives great with correct oil pressure at all engine temps and rpm. Transmission
shifts smoothly and the clutch engages correctly with not chattering or slack. A/C is ice cold. Engine is dry and
looks great. All engine fittings look like new. Porsche tool kit, manuals (not original to car), factory car
cover and certificate of authenticity all present. Comes with factory key with working light plus an extra metal
key and the original wheel lock key. Cruise control is not currently working due to the cable end coming off. I
have ordered a new cable and it will come with the car. Everything else works as it should. Updated stereo and
speakers. Original radio is not present. Car was shipped from California to me and arrived without the service
record folder. I have duplicated some of the recent records with help from the previous owner, Brumos Porsche and
Suttgart Service of Williamsburg, Va and am waiting for additional records to arrive. I have the records I
received scanned and can provide on request. Dashboard has 4 cracks. They were difficult to photograph through
the windshield due to the reflection. If the car is purchased at or above the buy it now price, I will have the
dashboard recovered in factory correct vinyl or give the purchaser a $600 credit off of the final price to deal
with the dash as he or she may prefer.

Motor Trend holds World's Greatest Drag Race for the third time
Fri, 23 Aug 2013As part of Motor Trend's Best Driver's Car competition, the buff book has held its third iteration of the World's Greatest Drag Race. With an airfield and a dozen of the world's finest performance cars at its disposal (oh, and a helicopter), the MT team did what any good group of enthusiasts would do, and tried to figure what car could cover a quarter mile the quickest. World's greatest drag race, indeed.
The contestants, as MT points out, cover a huge variety of engine types, drivelines, aspiration types and body styles, making for a genuinely varied and interesting field of competitors. Here's the full list of cars taking part.

Chevy Corvette Stingray defeating rivals where it matters most
Wed, 16 Jul 2014Everything is coming up roses for the award-winning Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, as new data from the North American Dealers Association dissected by GM Authority reveals that America's sports car is handily outselling two of its more expensive rivals.
Through June of 2014, the NADA notes that the Corvette has rung up 17,744 sales, handily besting the Porsche 911 and positively spanking the SRT Viper. Of course, you're sitting there thinking, "Corvette is outselling the much more expensive Porsche and Viper. Sky blue, water wet." But what's impressive here is just how thoroughly the Chevrolet is beating its two rivals, with this data serving as a testament to just how popular the seventh-generation sports car has become.
So far this year, Porsche has managed to move 5,169 911s, according to NADA. Considering that the base model starts at nearly $15,000 more than the most heavily optioned Stingray, and that Porsche owners have a vast, expensive options catalogue to select from, Stuttgart's sales are still plenty impressive in relation to the nearly 18,000 Corvettes sold.
Porsche revisits its remarkable SC East African Safari rally car
Wed, 09 Jul 2014Porsche and motorsports just seem to go hand-in-hand. The brand has defined itself by its ability to compete on the track with the concept that racing bred better road cars. While we are used to seeing 911s speeding along circuits around the world, the rear-engine icon's success in rallying is somewhat less well known. The Porsche Museum aims to fix that by highlighting a 911 SC that competed in the 1978 East African Safari Rally.
The 911 rally car definitely projects a '70s vibe. You wouldn't see too many racecars with a pink brush bar sliding through the stages these days, but it looks amazing. Its bank of spotlights and two, giant, hood-mounted horns definitely give away the car's purpose. Best of all, that fantastic Martini livery defines the looks of Porsche racers from this era.
The 911 SC performed well in the East African Safari Rally, but some suspension damage meant that this particular one never raced again. It's been a part of the Porsche Museum ever since. Scroll down to learn a little more about one part of the brand's off-road legacy.
