1987 Porsche 911 Carrera on 2040-cars
Lowell, Massachusetts, United States
For more pictures email at: caseyckkissack@swindonfans.com . This is a survivor, 3 PCA owner, 91000mile Carrera with the G50 transmission. Completely factory original except
the radio, no modifications. This is a Canadian car purchased at the Porsche dealer in Vancouver BC., MCL
Motorcars. It is a dealer serviced car with records and a stamped warranty book from both Vancouver Porsche
dealers, MCL and Weissach Performance.
As mentioned there are no modifications or changes to this car, it is as it left the factory, right down to the
exceptional Guards red paint. A complete unused tool kit, warranty book, owners manual, jack, compressor and spare
are still with the car. This car was stored inside and not driven in adverse conditions and it shows. All panels
fit perfectly, original rockguard is still present on each of the fender lips as applied by the factory. One of the
many options the car came with is option code 027 which is a California version, this means the car will pass
California safety and emissions.
The car has been very well maintained by both Porsche dealerships and local Porsche independent service centers.
No leaks, rattles, noises. Smooth shifting, very responsive 3.2. It has the factory sport package which includes a
stiffer suspension, Carrera tail and front chin spoiler. All rubber parts are soft and supple.
The underside is clean and damage free, under the fenders there is no dirt or grime, the cosmoline is still in
place and all coatings are untouched. The Fuchs are clean and unmarked, no curb damage or rash. The paint is close
to flawless, a silky smooth shine, no rock rash on the nose, no damage to the rockers or chin spoiler. Windshield
has no marks.
The interior has leather seats which show very little signs of use, dash is perfect, no marks in the headliner. No
extra holes for speakers of other electronics have been cut into any part of this car. Full power option seats with
the comfort seat package. Sunroof opens and closes smooth, no leaks.
This is an extremely well preserved Carrera, never messed with. Hard to find a car from this era with its original
paint especially in this condition and a car that has been so well taken care of all its life. I am only selling to
make storage for my modest 13 Porsche collection. I only collect factory original Porsches, fortunately for the
next owner I have put this car up for sale to make room, hard decision as to which car show go but my collection is
mostly pre 1973.

The exotic '80s: Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus and the Porsche 959
Thu, Apr 9 2015There's no secret that we are big fans of the MotorWeek Retro Review series around here. In an automotive world that often focuses on the latest tech and what's coming in the future, it's refreshing to take a look into the past to get a new perspective. That said, the show is really outdoing itself this time by posting a full episode from the '80s to YouTube, complete with the original, jazzy opening. The video is an absolute standout, too, with drives of some of the best supercars that Europe could offer at the time. Among the now classic sportscars that MotorWeek got to drive are the Ferrari 328, Lotus Esprit Turbo, Lamborghini Jalpa and Autokraft AC Mark IV. There's even a preview that sings the praises of the tech in the Porsche 959. The episode is basically a showcase of most of the exotics from young enthusiasts' walls and school folders during the '80s and is not to be missed. Can a Corvette really be compared to a 911 with options costing more than the Chevy?
Wed, 29 Jan 2014In this latest video from Drive, Chris Harris asks straight away, "Can you still compare a base Corvette to a Porsche Carerra?" That's an particularly interesting question in this film, as the 911 in question is a 400-horsepower Carrera S model that's been fitted with $60,000 in options. Base price of a Corvette Stingray? $51,995. Harris' tester features an automatic and some other goodies that push it right up to that $60,000 range. So yes, the options on the Porsche cost as much as this entire 460-hp Chevrolet.
Harris stresses that this isn't a full review, but he does exercise both cars in a more composed manner before reverting to his traditionally exuberant driving style. The impressions are, as always, spot on, with Harris favoring the pointy nature and V8 power of the Stingray, while enjoying the gearbox (Porsche's exceptional PDK transmission) and just about everything else on the 911.
Take a look below for the latest video from Drive, and let us know if you agree with Mr. Harris' views on these two sports cars.
Porsche Macan fails moose test, Stuttgart responds
Tue, 14 Oct 2014Different countries have different safety standards, but most of them revolve around a similar set of tests: front impact, side impact, offset impact, rollover... the usual. But Sweden has its own test. It's called the Moose Test (or the Elk Test), and it's unique to Scandinavia: a car has to be able to avoid a theoretical antlered mammal on the road while traveling at 43.5 miles per hour and return to its previous course without flipping over. The Jeep Grand Cherokee ran afoul of the uniquely Nordic maneuver a couple of years ago, but even more surprising is the way the Porsche Macan has reacted.
Under testing by Sweden's Teknikens Värld, Porsche's downsized crossover - specifically the Macan S Diesel, for what it's worth - didn't flip over, but it skidded off course. In real-world conditions, it follows, the vehicle could run off the road or into oncoming traffic. The testers ran the test several times, and even removed excess weight from the vehicle, and each time it reacted the same way.
In response, Porsche has explained that the behavior is the result of its Active Rollover Protection system kicking in. When the system detects that the vehicle could drastically oversteer, flip over or lose its tire, it momentarily applies the brake on the front outside wheel, allowing the vehicle to shed the cornering forces without losing it completely.
