this is a spectacular porsche 911 Carrera M491 optioned factory wide body turbo look car with only 49500 original miles. if you are looking at this i'm sure you already know that the m491 cars have all the turbo upgrades minus the turbo. you get turbo brakes (lovely lovely brakes), turbo wheels, turbo suspension and those very beautiful w-i-d-e fenders.
let's start with the exterior. the sapphire blue metallic paint sparkles in the sunlight. probably the most beautiful blue i've ever seen on any car and it's the only 1985 491 in this color that i've been able to find through all my research. most of the paint is original. i know the previous owner had the hood repainted because of some rock chips but otherwise i'm pretty sure the rest of the paint is original. there is a tiny door ding on the leading edge of the passenger door (see pic) and also on the passenger side rear fender flare there is a ding/scratch (again, see pic). the turbo spoiler is in mint condition. being that this is a 28 year old car the paint does have some very minor chips and such from normal use but otherwise very very nice.
the interior features navy blue leather. the door panels are mint. the carpet is mint. the headliner is mint. all lights, gauges, switches etc work as they should. there are a couple of spots on the dash where the blue has scratched off (i'm told this is very common with these blue dashes) and there is a tiny itty bitty crack in the dash up by the fresh air defrost vent right next to the windshield. the powered sport seats are deliciously comfortable. the bottom of the driver seat has a split seam. that is the only imperfection. the passenger seat is mint. the rear seats are mint. there is an alpine head unit with an alpine digital amp, focal mids/highs and 2 JL Audio 8's in a custom enclosure behind the front seats. and check out the starting procedure sticker on the glove box door. i have never seen one of those and probably will never see one again. the a/c works as it should but they were an afterthought on these cars so it does not blow all that cold, but it does work as it should.
the wheels are the original fuchs 16x 7&8's with excellent tires.
the engine runs excellent. no smoke. no leaks. engine is nice and dry (as well as clean) underneath. i recently dropped the engine due to a broken clutch fork. at that time (less than 1000 miles ago) i obviously replaced the clutch fork, complete clutch kit, rebuilt both passenger side cv axles (driver side were fine). i adjusted the valves and new gaskets. changed the case breather gasket, chain housing gaskets (just to be safe). gasses exit through a fabspeed pre-muffler and fabspeed 911RS muffler that sounds outstanding !!
the transmission shifts excellent (dare i say almost as good as my old g50). at the time of the clutch job i replaced all oil seals on any shaft going in or coming out of the tranny. i also installed a Seine spring loaded gate shift kit. MAJOR improvement. did i mention it shifts flawlessly? not a single grind, worn syncro, nothing. just pure shifting pleasure. and how could i forget the factory LSD :-)
the original tool kit and jack are included. sorry but i do not have the original air compressor.
this is a very reliable car. i would not hesitate to drive it anywhere right now. fly in to miami or ft lauderdale and drive home. nothing is being intentionally hidden about this car but being that it is 28 years old it is not absolutely perfect but close. car is being sold as is with no warranties expressed or implied. the carfax report does show some sort of rear accident. i have been in, out and under this car and can honestly tell you that i see absolutely no sign of any damage. it may just have been a small bump or something but i want to disclose and be as honest as possible.
all in all this is a mostly original, low mile, collector quality authentic M491 coupe. treat yourself, you won't regret it.
clean and clear Florida title in MY name. again, this is my personal car. it was always my dream to own one of these but now i must move on to bigger and better things.
PLEASE PLEASE only bid AFTER you have your wife's permission, checked your bank account and verified ALL funds are available etc etc. a $1000 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction end and the balance and car picked up within 7 days of auction end. i honestly prefer to be paid in cash upon delivery.

Build your dream garage with this insane prize from Omaze
Wed, Jan 19 2022Autoblog may receive a share from purchases made via links on this page. Pricing and availability is subject to change. No donation or payment necessary to enter or win this sweepstakes. See official rules on Omaze. Normally when we write about Omaze sweepstakes, they involve a car that you'd never go out and buy on your own. A six-figure camper van build, a $300,000 Ford Bronco restoration, a Land Rover Defender that's so beautiful it should be in a museum. Today's prize might beat out all of those, because not only could you win a dream car, you'll be entered for a chance to win $100k cash to go along with it. There are a lot of cars you can buy with $100k. You could buy a Land Cruiser Heritage Edition or a Mustang GT500 or 6 Chevy Sparks and start your own racing series. Personally, if I won that kind of dough, assuming I also won this Bentley Bentayga, my favorite of Omaze's current offerings, I'd probably use some of it to buy something quirky, like a Honda Element converted into a pop-top camper, or a restored/upgraded 60 series Land Cruiser. Think that's a terrible way to spend the cash? That's the beauty of it. It is completely up to you. No one can tell you what to do with it. Except maybe your spouse. Here are our favorite vehicle giveaways we’ve found online this week: 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition - Enter at Omaze Regardless of what you think about Ford using the name Mustang for an electric crossover, one thing is for certain, the Mustang Mach-E GT is an impressive piece of machinery. Well, thatÂ’s really up to you, because if you enter to win this Mach-E GT. it can be as low as $0. Here are the specs of the Mach-E in question, according to Omaze: Maximum Seating: 5 Engine: fully electric motors Drivetrain: eAWD Exterior Color: Rapid Red Metallic  Interior Color: Black Maximum Horsepower: 480 hp Maximum Torque: 634 lb-ft Acceleration: 0-60 in 3.5 seconds Range: 235 miles Approximate Retail Value: $75,500 Cash Alt: $56,625 Special Features: GT Performance Edition; panoramic fixed-glass roof; Ford Co-Pilot360™ Active 2.0 and 360-degree camera; Brembo brakes; RTR Design Package including 20” RTR Aero 5 wheels, Nitto NT555 G2 tires and RTR Speed Block graphics Win a Restored 1969 Pontiac GTO - Enter at Omaze Joel Stocksdale, News Editor: There are an awful lot of ways to build a restomod.
1986 Porsche 959 Prototype at Barrett-Jackson sees gavel fall at $440,000 [UPDATE: w/video]
Sat, 19 Jan 2013Fans of Porsche in America have longed for the chance to buy a 959 ever since the German automaker produced and sold it (well, sold it everywhere but the United States...) in the 1980s. Well, they just had their chance. The car you see above is a Porsche 959 prototype built in 1986, and only one other running prototype still exists.
The 959 prototype can't be driven on public roads, as it carries no such certification. Somehow, we doubt that matters all that much to the new buyer - this one is probably going to be sitting in a collection. When the gavel finally fell, bidding had reached $400,000, plus a 10-percent buyer's fee.
Check out our high-res image gallery above to see this prototype up close, and scroll down below to watch a video of it crossing the auction block and for its official auction description.
Watch the incredibly complicated operation of Porsche's new targa roof
Tue, 14 Jan 2014Despite Porsche having claimed the name, targa tops are nothing new. In addition to the semi-roofless version of the 911, plenty of cars in the past have used removable roof panels - the new Corvette Stingray has one (as have prior generations), and this type of open-air experience has been available on past vehicles like the Pontiac Solstice Coupe and Honda Civic del Sol.
But when Porsche took the top off its brand new 911 Targa here at the Detroit Auto Show, it was indeed cause for pause. Simply put, this is one of the most complicated and intricate electronic roof panel removal techniques we've ever seen, save perhaps, for the setup found on the Japanese-market Civic del Sol from the 1990s.
We won't spoil the video for you, but basically, rather than just the roof panel coming off, the entire rear glass area lifts away the body in order for the small section over the passenger compartment to slide back. This has to be incredibly expensive to repair once it inevitably breaks. And we highly doubt you'll be able to operate this mechanism at any speed.
