1985 Euro Spec Porsche 911 Targa 3.2l on 2040-cars

Year:1985 Mileage:116670
Location:

San Francisco, California, United States

San Francisco, California, United States

Presented before you is a 1985 3.2L Euro Porsche 911 Targa.  The car was offered here weeks ago but because of previous winner’s inability to raise funds, it is placed on the market once more. Again if you need to sell one car to get this car please do not bid.

Allow me to once more address some of the car’s history to you.

It is a 2 owner 1985 Euro Spec 911 Targa with factory special ordered paint and cr?me leather. (I’ve attached the color code for your inspection and 2 sets of photos of the car in different light so you can see how extraordinary this color is). The Euro spec 3.2L cars came with 10.3:1 compression compared to the U.S.’s 9.5:1. What this means is 231HP instead of 200HP output.  The engine, transmission and chassis #s are matching by the way.

The vehicle has been in California since 1986 hence the blue plates which you see. What makes this Euro spec Targa even more desirable is that it also wears the California BAR sticker which so many of the Euro spec’d cars on Ebay do not have.  This makes it a 100% smog legal in California. I have also attached photos of the car’s last smog certificate which was performed in October 2013 to prove.

The vehicle is clean through and through with no stories, no gawdy add ons like whale tails and chrome wheels.

Enough of my blabber and here are the bullet points on why you should or shouldn’t buy the car.

Con’s:

-          116,670miles

-          Odometer, headlights, and front bumper converted to US spec to allow for US entry.

-          Several door dings and minute scratches along door edge and rear lid.

-          Weathered steering wheel along with front and rear dash.

-          Dated radio system that needs to be addressed.

-          Squeaky suspension over hard road bumps. Suspension is original and has never been changed. Car is unmolested.

-          Other Porschephiles asking if they can have this car’s paint code.

-          Annoying Ferrari 308 owners trying to race you thinking they’re in the movie ‘Against All Odds’.

Pro’s:

-          116,670miles (For 29years that equates to 4000miles per year!)

-          Euro spec 3.2L motor.

-          100% No rust (Photos of under the car included)

-     Matching numbers

-          Porsche special paint combo.

-          All OEM parts except for radio.

-          Water tight Targa top. Inside and out.

-          All functioning electrical seat, windows, lights, wipers, dash lights, and A/C.

-          Recently serviced in March by Charles, ex Stable mechanic here in SF, with all fluids replaced. Sparkplugs swapped out. Mechanic can be contacted as he knows the vehicle’s history.

-          Brakes on demand with no issues.

-          CA smogged, CA Titled, CA blue plated, and CA garaged here in San Francisco.

-          16” OEM Fuchs wheels with no curb rash and tires.

-          Complete tools, manuals, pouch and spare wheel + tire.

-          Upside resale in European markets.

-          Located in San Francisco and ready for any test drives.

-          Detailed on April 11th.

Bid with absolute confidence.

Production Porsche 918 Spyder images leak out of Chinese patent office

Wed, 26 Dec 2012

A few images of what looks to be the production Porsche 918 Spyder are here to say hello, courtesy of a patent office in China. If these provide an accurate look at what the hybrid supercar will look like, there are a few differences between it and the latest examples of the pre-production prototypes our spy shooters have seen.
The jerry-rigged turn signals inside the headlight enclosures and on the front fenders on the prototype are replaced with more polished units inside the headlamps located underneath the main beams. Behind that, the door handles have been swapped from horizontal latches on the door to vertical openings located just behind the door shutline.
We've also seen a Martini-liveried version of the 918 Spyder that has extra carbon elements that don't appear on this car. It was at the Nürburgring with carbon lips on the front fenders and another carbon element that hung from the rear fenders and ran down to the rear diffuser. When we saw the car on our Deep Dive piece, the front lips were gone but that rear piece remained, and we can't tell from the brochure and options sheet that we've seen so far what it comes with. The wheels from the concept and the green brake calipers, minus the polycarbonate covers, should be the standard fitment while the ten-spoke magnesium wheels will be a 29,750-euro (about $39,000 US) option.

Audi and Porsche squabble over future product platforms

Tue, 22 Jul 2014

In the buildup to the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans, Audi delivered an amusing video that worked on the playful rivalry between the German brand and its favorite frenemy, Porsche. We called it sibling rivalry, and at the time, it may have been just that. But just like sibling rivalries, it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt, and that's just what seems to be about to happen in the formerly peaceful Volkswagen Group family.
A new report from Automobile calls out the growing animosity between Porsche, who is backed up by Bentley, and Audi, whose primary ally is Lamborghini. No blows have actually been thrown, although there is a fair amount of "he said, she said" going on.
As Porsche tells it, for example, the new global fullsize SUV architecture being developed by Audi isn't up to snuff, citing size and structure issues, as well as an inability to accommodate a wide variety of engines.

Porsche Cayman GT4 spot has us reaching for our driving gloves

Wed, Feb 4 2015

We've got to hand it to Porsche for finally unleashing the potential of the Cayman, and not worrying about it infringing on 911 territory. The latest Cayman is, by all accounts, a superb sports car in its own right, gets even better as the Cayman S and that much more so in GTS spec. But the new Cayman GT4 takes things to a whole other level with a 3.8-liter flat six driving 385 horsepower to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual. Old school is what it is, and certifiably off the leash. We brought you the full skinny on the new GT4 late last night when it surfaced, but now Porsche has released a video clip highlighting what makes its new pocket rocket look so great. It's got Nurburgring graffiti, intimidated neighbors, barking fluffy dogs, gape-jawed children, and of course footage of the Cayman GT4 itself doing what it was designed to do. All we need now is to get our driving gloves on its Alcantara steering wheel and ball-shaped shifter.
