1984 Porsche 911 converted to 993 Turbo S, with sun roof.

This is an all steel conversion from 993 turbo parts. The bumpers and tail were purchased from Precision Porsche, Los Angeles Ca. The body is in great condition with the exception of a few scratches and dings.

This car has been sitting for around 4 years. When I purchased this vehicle it was used as a daily driver. It has not been driven since I started the conversion. The engine still cranks and will fire over. However, I removed the stick shift to convert the transmission shaft to the 993 location but I did not finish it. It is still sitting inside the car. Right now the car is in neutral. The engine and transmission are original, 3.2L.

The interior has been stripped out to be updated to 993. It has a factory steel 993 center tunnel that is ready for installation sitting inside the car. I do not have any glass for this car, except for the door glass. I do not have any lights. I do not have the headlight or taillight shown in the pictures. Also the chrome rims do not come with the car, I no longer have them, the car now has turbo twists as shown in the last picture.

I have a few Porsche that I am selling. I started to collect them out of high school and now i want to sell them so I can have money to complete my college career. This car is being sold in 'AS IS' condition. I am also selling it locally so I reserve the right to end the listing early. Please feel free to ask me any questions and I will answer them to the best of my knowledge. It has a clean California title. It has 1000.00 back fees due on the registration because I never put it in non-opt. However, if you purchase this vehicle and you are out of California you don't have to pay the back fees. I do not want to invest anymore money into it.

I do not know the real value so I have set a reserve. All serious offers are welcome, call or email.

VW confirms development of 10-speed dual clutch, 134-hp/liter diesel

Fri, 26 Apr 2013

Each year, the Vienna International Motor Symposium showcases some of the up-and-coming technologies automakers are engineering for the use in passenger cars, and Volkswagen AG CEO Martin Winterkorn revealed some big developments VW is working on for its future products. Winterkorn discussed a multi-faceted approach that VW is looking to reduce its fleet fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.
Some of the bigger news he discussed included a "high-performance" diesel engine that will produce 134 horsepower per liter and a 10-speed DSG automatic transmission. While no specific applications were mentioned, we can only hope this is for the Audi R4 we keep hearing about.
Another topic he touched on that caused us to perk up our ears was had to do with VW's plug-in hybrid technology. While we know the PHEV versions of the Audi A3 and Porsche Panamera are on the way, Winterkorn also said that these two models will be followed up by Golf, Passat, Audi A6 and Porsche Cayenne plug-in models. Scroll down for a press release highlighting the automaker's future fuel-saving initiatives.

Mysterious Porsche 911 Cabriolet spied, could be GTS

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

While Porsche's designers can jokingly be accused of being some of the laziest in the industry due to the incremental changes to the 911's iconic design, no such charge can be leveled against the engineers and product planning folks. That's because it seems like each week arrives with news of a new variation of the marque's iconic rear-engined sports car. So, for this week, we've brought you images of what we think is the new 911 GTS Cabriolet, undergoing testing in a thawing winter wonderland.
Now, what is it that gives this 911 away, compared to standard convertible? Well, the big thing is the new offset, center-mounted exhausts. Borrowing a page from the last Volkswagen R32, these exhaust tips are unlike anything we've seen from Porsche. Only the GT3 wears center pipes, and unlike these spy photos, the twin pipes on the track-minded 911 are stacked neatly alongside each other. The other change spotted by our spies is the set of active-aerodynamic flaps in the front bumper, which can automatically channel air toward the brakes for increased cooling, or close off to reduce drag, as needed.
Those exhausts are a pretty big design detail, and so far as we can tell is the only differentiator between the other 911s in this car's posse. Our spies speculate that this could be a 911 Speedster, but point out that both the canvas roof and windshield remain unchanged - the rumored Speedster model would almost certainly feature a different roof assembly along with a steeply raked windshield.

Porsche revisits the 911's dirty side with rally history film

Fri, 03 Jan 2014

It might not be a coincidence that there are rumors of Porsche revealing a safari version of the 911 at April's Beijing Motor Show, just as the Dakar Rally is about to begin. Adding fuel to the dusty desert fire is a just-released official video of Jeff Zwart driving the Porsche 953 that Jacky Ickx drove to victory in the 1984 edition of the race.
In the video, the seven-time Pikes Peak International Hill Climb winner talks about how he grew up with the 911; it wasn't only the car he learned to drive in, it was his choice of racecar no matter whether the course was tarmac or the dirty stuff.
You can decide for yourself if these recent events are mere coincidence while you enjoy the 953's exhaust note in the video below. If you've got the time to see the 953 during its race-conquering drive and find out what the ersatz Paris-Dakar Rally used to be, we've also included a broadcast of that 1984 race below as well. Fast-forward to 19:44 to see the Porsches cross the open dessert and 29:09 to watch one of them tackle the dunes.
