This is a beautiful and rare 1982 Porsche 911 SC, "sunroof delete" car, in amazing original mechanical and cosmetic
condition. With only 3 (all local) owners, as well as records and documents since new, this car runs, shifts,
drives, stops, and does everything it should, in an excellent manner. Zero rust, and very little wear, to indicate
it's 68K (only 2,000 per year!) of gentle, "seasonal" use.
A few highlights:

* Official Certificate of Authenticity ("C.O.A.") from Porsche
* Rare sunroof delete car (sunroofs were optional, but appeared on the majority of U.S. cars)
* Freshly serviced & runs great
The car was originally 'rosewood metallic', but was near perfectly resprayed (a much more attractive) Guards Red,
in an excellent (glass & seals all out, etc), no-expense spared fashion, and there is no hint of a color change
anywhere on the car. All of the requisite 911 SC updates have been made, including pressure fed "Carrera" chain
tensioners, and air-box pop off valve. While never driven daily, and obviously not accumulating many miles, the car
has never sat for extended periods of time, and has always been regularly exercised. It has also just been freshly
serviced and gone through, is in excellent mechanical shape, and is ready for a long tour, or spirited drive. The
car has excellent oil pressure, and a nice steady and consistent idle. While this car has never been tracked, the
sunroof delete option, saves weight, and adds to the already great handling, making this SC a great auto-cross
candidate, if one desires. The original Fuchs are in excellent condition, and the tires show good tread. It has
been fitted with a more modern cd player and speakers.
While certainly not a perfect concourse car (what fun is that?), this is an excellent example of a wonderful
driver, 911 SC. There is slight patina to the original steering wheel leather, and while the original dash has no
cracks, the leather has shrunk in a few small spots (we're being picky now), but none of this affects drivability
or usability, and wouldn't even be noticeable to the average observer. The seats, floors, etc are all in very nice
condition, with little to no wear, as one would expect, with a vehicle that has had constant care, love and
maintenance.
Considered by many marque enthusiasts, as the quintessential air-cooled 911, the SC is rapidly getting the respect
of the collector market, and is sure to quickly enjoy the appreciation garnered by the early 911 and 356 cars.
Invest in one of the last, original low mileage cars, at a reasonable price, before it's too late!

Porsche announces plan to replace 911 GT3 engines
Wed, 19 Mar 2014About a month back, we reported that Porsche was suspending delivery of its 911 GT3 due to reported incidents of the engine bursting into flames. A few days later, Porsche told owners of the new track-ready models not to drive their cars and had their local dealers pick up the cars in question. Just a couple of days ago, we reported that Porsche was working on a fix, and now we have the official details.
Following an internal investigation prompted by two such incidents, Porsche has confirmed that is has identified the problem as resulting "from a loosened screw joint on the connecting rod." The loose connecting rod, Porsche found, damaged the crankcase, which in turn resulted in oil leaking and then - in at least two cases - igniting.
Our source is unaware of Porsche being contacted by GT3 owners concerned about the impact of a replacement engine on their car's collectibility or resale value.

Tue, Jun 30 2015Over the last three days, the Goodwood Estate has played home to the eponymous Festival of Speed. Thrown by the biggest gearhead in the British aristocracy – Charles Gordon-Lennox, the Earl of March and Kinrara – the Festival of Speed is essentially a tremendous, gasoline-fuelled party, complete with a very large lawn sculpture, that features the world's hottest, weirdest, fastest, and loudest race, production, and historic models. While there are quite literally dozens and dozens of videos from the event – not to mention the full-day replays (of which only day one is available, at present) – we've sifted through them to pluck away the very best. There's stuff from the official Goodwood YouTube channel, as well as several videos from automakers and other third-party channels, and it's all available below. 2015 Ford Mustang GT350R Looks Barely Controllable If you thought the highest-performance Ford Mustang would somehow get more tractable or civilized once it moved to an independent rear suspension, this video shows you have nothing to worry about. Watch as an unnamed driver wrestles the new Shelby GT350R and its flat-plane, 5.2-liter V8 up the hillclimb circuit. Even with the new suspension and sticky tires, this Mustang wants to go any direction but straight, especially following its launch. 2016 Ford Focus RS, Is Very Loud, Blue Ken Block makes his first appearance on our list. Before he steps into his Hoonicorn Mustang, though, the Gymkhana expert tackled the hill in the all-new Focus RS. The vicious bellow of the 2.3-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder is the star of this commentary-free video, although the gorgeous Nitrous Blue paint job is a nice accompaniment, as well. 1965 Ford Mustang Hoonicorn Runs Hill, Nearly Kills Lord March Mr. Block's two runs behind the wheel of the Hoonicorn were, unsurprisingly, very eventful. While one attempt goes off without a hitch, seeing the American rally driver slip and slide his way to the top of the hill while taking a short break for a donut, the other is slightly more dramatic. Block, along with Lord March in the passenger seat, carries a bit too aggressive an angle into a turn and nearly puts the NASCAR-powered Mustang into the hay bales. eGarage video features Helmuth Bott's personal Porsche 959 prototype
Fri, 12 Apr 2013"We thought we were going to build a super-911," said Peter Schutz, former CEO of Porsche AG of the development of the Porsche 959. That was before it started getting expensive. At that point, Helmuth Bott, Porsche R&D director got frightened. Costs ballooned because of the all-wheel drive, sequential turbocharging and other technology Porsche had never even thought about when it set out to build a 911 to compete in Group B. Schutz continued, "The amount of resources we were committing got totally out of hand." Instead of pulling the plug, Bott doubled down and drew on the strength of his brilliant team to build a car whose impact is still echoing aross the industry.
"It's probably one of our most prized possessions" says Don Leatherwood, Director of the Brumos collection where Dr. Bott's personal prototype resides, and where Frazer Spowart went to see the car and create a video for eGarage.
