1981 Porsche 911 Sc Targa 2-door 3.0l **71058 Original Miles** on 2040-cars
Louisville, Kentucky, United States
History You are bidding on a 1981 Porsche 911SC Targa. Manufactured 12/1980. The vehicle was originally purchased 05-1981 in California. The first owner had the car until 05-1993. The second owner had the car from 05-1993 to 05-2001 and still lived in California. The current owner purchased the vehicle in 2001 with 66k miles on. The vehicle has been moved a few times with the new owner, 2002 to 2006 Illinois, 2006 to 2013 Tennessee and now is living in Michigan. Women owned all 3 times. This vehicle is in excellent condition for its age and has been well cared for by all 3 of its owners. I just drove this vehicle from Detroit MI to Louisville KY and was very impressed by how fun and nice it was to drive. It’s a very solid vehicle and will be a very nice car to own. I will attempt to describe the vehicle the best I can. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask. Interior The interior was completely redone in 1988. Today the interior still looks great. The front seats and rear jump seat are in great condition free of any rips or tears. The dash pad was also recovered and only has a few spots in it right in front of the steering wheel (see pictures). The owner installed a dash pad for protection and it has done a great job maintaining the condition of the dash. It can be removed if desired. The carpet, door panels and the rest of the interior are also in great shape. The original radio has been replaced with a more updated Alpine unit with usb connector. There are also 2 amplifiers in the luggage compartment for the audio system. The sun visors have also been replaced with new ones from Porsche. The original sun visors will come with the vehicle. All gauges and controls in the interior are in working condition and in great shape. Exterior The exterior was completely restored by Sport Body in Upland California in 1988. I have several Polaroid pictures of the vehicle throughout its refinishing process and all invoices for the repair. Today the exterior looks good with typical rock chips in the front hood area and around the headlights. It does have a small place on the passenger side of the front bumper and the driver’s side rear quarter panel behind the wheel that the paint has either been rubbed off or was damaged. See pictures for these areas. There is a small amount of rust developing around the rear window where the bottom of the glass meets the body. I also noticed a very small amount on the door edge of the passenger door. The rest of the cars exterior is near perfect. The luggage area and under the vehicle are in great shape and very clean. I pulled back the carpet and took pictures of all common areas that other vehicles this age might have rust issues. This vehicle looks good, battery area, under both doors and all corners of this vehicle are rust free. The Targa was also refinished in 1988 and still looks new today. Engine At 66462 miles in 2001 the engine had head studs that were pulling out and would not torque so the owner decided it was the best time to have the engine rebuilt. The engine was removed and totally rebuilt by Callas Rennsport in Torrance California. I have all documentation listing what was replaced but a small list would include; clutch cable, all head studs, connecting rods and bearings, timing chains, updated to Carrera tensioner kit, all cam chain rails, new air box and so on. Invoice total was $8361.10. Today the engine runs very well with no signs of leaking fluids or any smoke from exhaust. Extras The owner has installed a maintain battery charger that will come with the vehicle. Also included is a cover king locking car cover, a light weight carbrella for when the targa top is out, 2 owners manuals, all maintenance and repair invoices, new still in the box threshold covers, original tool bag with tools, original spare tire and 6 keys Tires were replaced in 2008 but only @3000 miles ago. I could not fit all the pictures I have (over 100) on this listing so if you have specific areas you would like to see please let me know. If your feedback score is below 5 please do not bid. Contact me first. The vehicle is located in Louisville KY and will need to be picked up there. There is not a buy it now price. The seller is going to let the auction end with the highest bidder (after reserve is met) getting the vehicle. Please check my feedback, I have sold many vehicles on ebay and all transactions have been positive. Bid with confidence. |

VW Group to split brands under four holding companies
Tue, Jun 16 2015The Volkswagen Group is planning a tremendous shift in its internal structure that will decentralize operations by splitting its 12 brands into four different holding companies. Here's the breakdown. Things will be split logically, considering the inter-sharing of parts, platforms, and engines. The Volkswagen brand, Seat, and Skoda make up a passenger vehicle division led by former BMW man Herbert Diess. Audi, which is tightly intertwined with Lamborghini and motorcycle manufacturer Ducati, will be managed by current Audi exec Rupert Stadler. Porsche and Bentley, which are already quite close, will be joined by Bugatti and run by Matthias Mueller. Finally, a commercial vehicles division will include Volkswagen Commercial, Scania, and Man. Former Daimler exec Andreas Renschler will take care of the big vehicles. The massive move, according to Automotive News Europe, is part of an internal VAG effort to move away from the structure established by ousted Chairman Ferdinand Piech, who favored a compact, but highly centralized, management structure to oversee the independent actions of the company's brands. Criticism of Piech's arrangement stemmed from the company's slow responses to changes in the market, ANE reports. The new structure should make for a more efficient, streamlined company that's better able to make crucial decisions. What are your thoughts? Should VAG decentralize, or did Piech have the right idea? Have your say in Comments.
Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer
Mon, 07 Oct 2013An Iconic Sports Car, Restored to Seduce
I have been strapped behind the iconic Momo Prototipo steering wheel for a little more than an hour, all windows down as I carve my way up a rugged canyon during an unusually warm Southern California evening, and I am overwhelmed with emotion. My heart is pounding out of my chest, my breathing is heavy and my palms are sweaty because I am completely absorbed by this wondrous machine.
After waiting patiently for nearly four years, I am finally behind the wheel of a classic Porsche 911 restored, modified and tuned by Singer Vehicle Design. The vehicle that surrounds me never rolled off an automaker's assembly line in its current configuration, yet its physical appearance is timeless, build quality breathtaking and driving dynamics peerless.
Porsche 919 Hybrid revives Porsche's factory Le Mans efforts
Tue, 04 Mar 2014After months of teasing with camouflaged testers, Porsche has finally unveiled its prototype entry for the 2014 World Endurance Championship, the 919 Hybrid. Porsche, you may recall, hasn't had campaigned a factory team at Le Mans in years, so the 919 is nothing less than their recommitment to endurance racing.
Combining a 2.0-liter V4 (yes, a V4) that revs to 9,000 rpm, the 919 produces around 500 horsepower with a pair of energy recovery systems. The first system recovers the heat energy from exhaust gasses as they pass through an electrical generator, while the second system is a bit more familiar. Using a setup similar to what is found on the production 918 Spyder, a generator on the front axle recovers kinetic energy from the brakes, which is subsequently stored in a battery system. That power can then be sent to the front wheels at the driver's command, effectively turning the 919 into an all-wheel-drive racecar.
Despite these various forms of motivation, Porsche doesn't claim to be seeking outright power supremacy, with Chairman Matthias Müller saying, "In 2014, it will not be the fastest car that wins the World Endurance Championship series and the 24 hours of Le Mans, rather it will be the car that goes the furthest with a defined amount of energy. And it is precisely this challenge that carmakers must overcome. The 919 Hybrid is our fastest mobile research laboratory and the most complex race car that Porsche has ever built."
